the joys of incontinuity.
in all honesty, i really despise the fact that river is the doctor's wife. i really really despise it. it's so fucking shoehorned. there was absolutely no build up to it, not visual indication of love, just suddenly
"i'm ur waifu" "oh okay hi wife we're a married couple now, couples are cool".
The minisodes make it a bit more obvious (Last Night and First Night etc) and there will most likely be more other things we don't see (and that we might not want to see).

It always seemed to me that the only reason he ever felt anything for River was because she hinted that they'd eventually be a couple. He just had to stick with it and force himself to love her because her dying words were for him to not change anything.

That could work for me.
But when it comes to the Screwdriver. Did any of you ever consider there being multiple cases to put the software in? Maybe he even got it patched to limited functionality to keep a lid on it.

To me it seems like he started liking her after the poisoning episode but only started really really caring in s07.

This is why I want the TARDIS matrix to return as a recurring character. It doesn't necessarily have to be in Idris' body, but I just love the way the Doctor interacted with her. It alternated between a slapstick married couple and an overprotective mother to a rebellious son.
plus i ship it so hard but that isn't important

The joys of missing script deadlines and having to rush something out.
That's the only reason the River love story is so rushed, it was rushed. Which is a shame. Mr Moffat is a very very busy man. Especially in the last couple of years with all the 50th planning.

You tried.
I think we can say that most of the Doctors got fair representation over the anniversary period - for all the moaning beforehand.
Really, only two (Jon P & Chris E) have missed out more than others... albeit one by means of deleted scenes.
1 - William Hartnell, David Bradley & John Guilor (Adventure in Space and Time | Day of The Doctor Additional Audio & Archive)
2 - Patrick Troughton & Reese Sheersmith (Adventure in Space and Time | Day of The Doctor Archive)
3 - Jon Pertwee & Mark Gatiss (Adventure in Space and Time Deleted Scene | Day of The Doctor Archive)
4 - Tom Baker (Day of The Doctor)
5 - Peter Davison (Five Doctors Reboot | Day of The Doctor Archive)
6 - Colin Baker (Five Doctors Reboot | Day of The Doctor Archive)
7 - Sylvester McCoy (Five Doctors Reboot | Day of The Doctor Archive)
8 - Paul McGann (Five Doctors Reboot | Night of The Doctor | Day of The Doctor Archive)
War - John Hurt (Night of The Doctor | Day of The Doctor)
9 - Christopher Eccleston (Day of The Doctor Archive)
10 - David Tennant (Day of The Doctor / Five Doctors Reboot)
11 - Matt Smith (Day of The Doctor / Five Doctors Reboot)
12 - Peter Capaldi (Day of The Doctor)
Remember when it was "just Smith and Tennant" showing their faces eh? ^_^
The Thirteen Doctors.
Dunno why Gatiss dressed up as Pertwee for AAISAT. It was like a terrible cosplay.
Should have got Sean Pertwee in. I really want to see him dressed as 3.

River was fine as "the one future companion", not Moffat's fan-character mary sue. River sucked the enjoyment out of anything she was in.
River is simply BBC Wales Who's Rani.
Doctor Who has a 19.30 slot on Christmas Day.

Christmas Dinner? Around 3pm.

At Christmas it's usually an ongoing thing.
An Adventure in Space and Time is showing again on Christmas Day @ 4.30pm.
A theory on why the Twelfth Doctor will look so much older than his predecessor:
This was one that I thought after the 50th anniversary too and I’m pleased to see it pop up in a couple of places online. Following the Time War, the Doctor only regenerated into younger versions of himself. This is based on the quote from the War Doctor saying “Do you have to talk like children, what makes you ashamed of being a grown up?” Perhaps the thing that makes them ashamed of being an older version of the Doctor is the perceived actions of the War Doctor himself? This regression into younger and younger forms could be the immature response to his past, more wizened incarnation, somehow subconsciously affecting the regenerations to become younger and younger.
Of course with the change to the 50th Anniversary where Gallifrey Falls No More, he no longer sees the big bad version of himself being one of the older versions. So he is no longer afraid of being old – thus resulting in the older Capaldi regeneration (remeber, he’s the oldest actor to take the role since William Hartnell) because he no longer feels guilty from his actions on the last day of the Time War. I’m not sure if it was deliberate by Moffat and his writing den, but it certainly works for me.
