Neil Gaiman attempted to contact the BBC to revive Doctor Who himself around 2001. He didn't receive a response. Over ten years later, he says he wouldn't take over if he was asked.

Oy.
The pain. The pain.

I wouldn't mind him taking lead after Moffat. Seems like Gaimen and peter jackson episode like less of a pipe dream too.
To be fair we've only seen one Gaiman story. The next could suck.
Does anyone know what this is about?

Just information about the doctor? With a different incarnation featured each month? I don't really know what's not to get.
Also, I looked up that Regeneration box set on Amazon and it's priced at £43. I also didn't realise it contains the entire regeneration SERIALS, not just the actual episodes. So this may be one worth getting if you don't actually own any Who DVDs (like me)
Something is going on down in South Wales, and it's something absolutely massive. I'm saying nothing, but some of the speculation here tallies exactly with this news. Some of it doesn't. This won't be a small affair though, it'll cause ructions, trust me. For me what I've heard is going to be era defining, your mileage may well vary though. We might be sitting here come the end of the year and thinking "Oh . . . was that all?" I doubt it though. The text I got with this news was seven words long. The first world was "The" . . . and that's all you're getting.
I'm impressed by how little we know about the finale compared to previous years around this time. Hopefully that isn't ruined by early DVD leaks.

More interesting is how he described the magnitude of this news:
"Well I suppose it depends on how you define massive. For me what I've heard is going to be era defining, your mileage may well vary though. We might be sitting here come the end of the year and thinking "Oh . . . was that all?"
I doubt it though. I predict the usual intra-fandom bewailing of the destruction of the established order of things (as if this show ever had such a thing)."
It's gonna Hurt.
But now I'm going to spend the rest of my life guessing the 7 words.
Guesses:
The next Doctor will be a woman.
The Doctor degenerates and starts cycle again
The Doctor eats his own young. Ew.
The last five minutes is Hey Jude.
The John Hurt doctor rumour is true.

I've decided it was so much rubbish, it wasn't worth the forum space.
[sp]Lots of different people saying Matts replacement was cast in the last week[/sp]
Hide Update: 6.346m
Thankfully, shoved above "Silence in the Library." But, the 7m chain is at an end.
That's a shame. Whoever said they hoped it would remain 7m at a constant: you jinxed it.
Also Silence in the Library didn't get more views? I'd expect it had, it was awesome. One of my favorite episodes.

Sources? That's pretty interesting now. [sp]I don't want to say it's his "time" yet so to speak, but he's had 3 seasons and if the 50th is about his trip to Trenzalore and if it truly is the "fall of the eleventh" then it would make sense for him to depart after the anniversary. It's a shame, though, if it's true. Hopefully we get to see him truly enraged before he leaves though. We've seen him angry, but not "Timelord Victorious" angry.[/sp]
SiTL is the lowest rated ep of the 2005- series. It was put up against the Britain's Got Nipples final after being delayed for Eurovision.
Forest of the Dead got 1.6m more..

That's... beyond disappointing.

Because I don't much care for spoilers and I really want to find out things to satisfy my curiosity I looked it up and... Well... Uh. I'm confused.
[editline]26th April 2013[/editline]
Well, actually through Google I can see a bit of the review but when I try to go to the page it tells me it's gone. So that just adds to the confusion.
It has been deleted. All clear.

Wait, so... uh. (Really heavy spoiler about the above, avoid at all costs) [sp]The Doctor's name will be revealed in THIS episode? That just confuses me even more. What about "The Name of The Doctor"? I haven't read the whole thing, just saw it's gonna happen in Journey which is THIS week. I won't read it then but by God I'm excited now...[/sp]

That URL truly shows the power of quotation marks.
Ha, looking back through some stuff and I can't believe that Billie Piper and Russell Tovey were both in the running with the bookies to take on the role after Tennant left. I would like to have seen how they would have explained that.
So would I

Well yes, I knew that, its just someone said that Trenzalore is the 50th anniversary and I was just clearing it up

[sp]series-7-finale-to-see-fall-of-the-eleventh[/sp]
vs
[sp]Series 7 finale to see "fall of the eleventh?"
i.e. the first says it as if it's a fact, that the finale will see the Doctor die, whereas the second one is more "hey, what even is the fall of the eleventh? We don't actually know what the fall of the eleventh even is". I guess the question mark helps as well. But if you saw the URL on its own, you'd think it meant that the Doctor was definitely going to die, that they had concrete evidence, that they knew exactly what was going to happen. Whereas when you follow the link, the title is actually 'Series 7 finale to see "Fall of the Eleventh?"' Ehh I'm not explaining myself very well, but you know what I mean. Hopefully.[/sp]
In preparation for tomorrow's episode, I've watched "The Edge of Destruction", the third Hartnell story where they learn for sure that the TARDIS can think for itself when it's on a path to disaster, and "the Doctor's Wife," which needs no elaboration.
I think that should get the gist of things ready for me, yes?
If they do get a new doctor i hope they keep it a secret til he regenerates
