As Moffat has insisted
the entire post lost credibility from that point :v:
but really, I don't expect like a full on two Doctor story or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them made an appearance somehow. maybe even as small an amount as they did in the eleventh hour.
Trailer was released on 11/12/13
Is Matt is all of the above? Genius :v:
"The Doctor is regenerating"
Probably a more interesting line to have than one may think. I want to see it used an escape mechanism.
EDIT: Omg. Look at Matt during the sonic clip.

Here's how I see it playing out: [sp]All the baddies that gather on Trenzalore are aware that this is the Doctor's last incarnation. We've never seen a Timelord die due to hitting the regeneration limit before, so Moffat could quite easily say that the true, proper death of a Timelord releases huge amounts of regeneration energy, which would help fuel the baddies nefarious plans (just a thought: what if the energy is used to send the Pandorica back through time in order to capture the Doctor to prevent all that hoo-hah happening on Trenzalore in the first place). The Doctor essentially refuses, manages to escape and goes into hiding (during this time, it's perfectly conceivable that this aged version of 11 can take part in the 100th anniversary special). He's brought back by Clara or the TARDIS or whatever and basically killed by the bad guys. However, due to the TARDIS' deep psychic connection with the Doctor (having now been travelling with him for about 2,000 years), and continuing with the theme of long-term calculations from the 50th, the TARDIS has managed to calculate exactly how the Doctor's life would pan out if there wasn't a regeneration limit. So it sacrifices a huge part of itself to somehow implement these calculations in the Doctor's body. The energy is still released, the Pandorica is sent back in time (but as we saw in S5, is avoided by the Doctor anyway), all the baddies leave, content that they've succeeded, and Trenzalore burns. But the Doctor manages to regenerate, leaving him with a new face, freedom from all the 'silence will fall' rubbish that has pursued him through (what is now) the majority of his life, and importantly no limit to his regenerations, since the TARDIS has got it all worked out.[/sp]
Is that a theory?
its speculation and potential spoiler time, bailing thread till christmas!
have fun!
(i'll probably accidentally return multiple times)
I'll have to watch The End Of Time again at Christmas, getting it with the specials on blu-ray alongside
The Key To Time, Series 1-4 and Spearhead From Space on Blu-ray.
[sp]We've never seen a Timelord die due to hitting the regeneration limit before[/sp]
[sp]Wasn't there a moment in Classic Who where a Time Lord died at the end of his last incarnation? I think they depicted the process as the body just fading away into dust.[/sp]
[sp]I believe they can "start" to regenerate - but die in the process.[/sp]
How can he look aged when he has looked exactly the same for like 400 years?
How can he look aged when he has looked exactly the same for like 400 years?
Obviously this is longer than 400 years.

It's interesting that we've started spoiler tagging theories now, when did this happen? :v:
It's interesting that we've started spoiler tagging theories now, when did this happen? :v:
I've been in this thread for years and it's always been the case.
A theory is a theory.
A theory based on a spoiler is a spoiler.
I thought we didn't count what's in the trailers as spoilers?
It's interesting that we've started spoiler tagging theories now, when did this happen? :v:
Some of them might contain spoiler-y content from Day of the Doctor, and if the theory turns out to be true, you'd probably have the entire Christmas special ruined because you now know exactly how it happens.
I thought we didn't count what's in the trailers as spoilers?
We don't. Nothing on this page is a spoiler, so I don't see why you're moaning about spoiler tags.
The entire episode is out there on the net- that would warrant a spoiler tag. Everything else is speculation.
I'm not moaning! If anything I'm happy, it's just interesting, that's all. During the Day of the Doctor speculation on the trailers not much of it was spoiler tagged iirc - infact I even remember asking if we could spoiler tag it then getting told that you can't expect people to spoiler tag trailer theories n such. Maybe I'm just remembering wrong.
Looking at the trailers and the pics, they didn't do badly at all with keeping filming under wraps.
Shame about the national media leak of important plot points though, eh.
Did they build a town in a forest somewhere? Or is it trickery.

The trailers and pics are very good at not revealing much of the episode.
But all the stuff filmed outside came out instantly, and pretty much all the major points happened outside. Apparently Moffat has cut back on filming outside for next year, he's furious.
I mean more along the lines of:
When did we first have proof of Daleks / Cybermen / Silents / The Church / Angels - through exterior filming alone? There were early rumours about Cybermen, but I don't recall any filming pics of any of the above. I only remember the first Matt/Jenna/Turkey pics & maybe one of them together in the town.
I could be wrong, but it makes it doubly disappointing that it was all leaked. Gave the first trailer on 23/11 extra surprise value.

Whoa wait, hold the phone. The entire Christmas special was leaked, or was it just stuff that we've already seen in the trailers?

Written details of the entire episode are out there. The Sun also printed regeneration details which the crew had to control on Twitter.
Disastrous.

Some newspapers posted a "plot synopsis" that I think was based on rumours more than anything else.
Christopher Eccleston is chilling as John Aspinall in Lucky on ITV this evening. Rory Kinnear is playing Lucan.
ah shit all these rumors :v:
accidentally in the thread again i am :v:
Some newspapers posted a "plot synopsis" that I think was based on rumours more than anything else.
It's not rumours. Timeboy posted it all on GB (even with direct quotes from the episode, which have since popped up in trailers). Every detail of the episode start to finish (apart from Capaldi's first scene which is tightly wrapped).
Then The Sun published it.
It was a fucking disaster from the start, why you would ever post such a thing on GB is beyond me. The BBC didn't help matters when crew members from Doctor Who started tweeting "big spoilers in The Sun" thus validating the whole thing.
why you would ever post such a thing on GB is beyond me.
That's a different matter.
Spoiler-hounds posting spoilers in a spoiler section of a fan board. There's no limit to "how much you can spoil." The Infinite Quest section would have to go to make a statement on that one.
The Sun has no excuse for lifting and printing them, though, beyond sensational headlines.

Mm, but giving hints and disembodied clues about future episodes is usually how it works. So it fuels speculation. Timeboy seemed to get annoyed nobody was believing him (GB always biting the hand that feeds it), and in a desperate attempt to feel validated and adored he just wrote up the whole episode.
The Sun was most in the wrong though. But I've never expected them to be the moral compass in the world. I've still not forgiven them for the spoiler they published in 2006: "K9 returns but he's evil and tries to destroy the universe with The Master". I like to imagine somebody high up sent them that "exclusive". Series 2 was always a disappointment in comparison to Evil K9.

How long do we all want Capaldi to stay? I want 4-5 years of the Capaldi action.
It may be how it usually works - but it's hardly surprising that spoilers may spoil. The Sun has used GB before.
How long do we all want Capaldi to stay? I want 4-5 years of the Capaldi action.
At the very least 3 years. 4-5 would be lovely, though.
As Capaldi's such a huge fan of the show, I can't imagine him wanting to leave for at least a few years. The only reason I could imagine him leaving early is if the role turns out to be too exhausting for him. As a true fan of the show, he would probably sooner let another actor take over in that case than risk stuffing up his part and harming the quality of the show as a result.
