Beautiful final performance from Matt - v moving final lines. And a joy seeing Peter Capaldi then making such an instant impact.
Time of The Doctor: emotional
We could totally get a copy of it right now but we're (even my dad) holding back because we want to watch it on Christmas like everyone else. :v:
'Moving final lines' - I doubt his last word will be anything other than 'Geronimo' but probably with some lines before that.
'Clara, before I go, I just want to tell you, you were geronimo. Absolutely geronimo. And you know what? So was I. Geronimo.'
Torchwood is a poor man's modern-series UNIT that didn't work nearly as well as RTD hoped.
Not only did it take over UNIT duties, Jack was a clear stand in for The Brig in the modern series.
I find Torchwood to be much more interesting than UNIT, both in backstory and the general idea of them. Torchwood seems to deal with the more mysterious, darker side of things and that also seems to be how the actual organisation is - dark and mysterious. UNIT doesn't really seem like they can properly deal with Aliens and things like that very well, it seems as if they just show up and have no idea what they are really doing.
I'm just basing that on what's been shown in the modern-series and Torchwood series, though. I don't really know much about UNIT.
Torchwood and UNIT seem kind of different in purpose.
UNIT seeks to defend humanity as a whole, while Torchwood was supposed to protect Britain from the Doctor (though then it became a collective of Jack's fuck buddies, dunno what's up with that)

I'm playing Metroid Prime and I the first level's only voice sounds like the Anne-droid from Bad Wolf.
Pretty neat.
Looks like the [sp]byzantium[/sp] is in the extended trailer.
So appearently some time ago the BBC had added a nice handful of old Virgin-era Doctor Who novels to their websites, fully of new illustrations themed on other Who book ranges and packed with author's notes and all that cool stuff. All for free!
But they bloody took it all down around the time of Matt Smith's introduction. The Internet Archive's barely got anything beyond the ebooks themselves (and even then), so all we're left with is tantalizing images other websites managed to save from the ebook pages. Ruddy well grinds my gears.

pls get it and just confirm to me that the regen song is The Long Song
and that Matt's last word is "Geronimo"
if neither of these things happen i am dropping the show forever!!!

Urgh.

I'd put bets on it being [sp]The Doctor dying on Trenzalore with no more regenerations[/sp]
So Peter Davison is going to be hosting the Symphonic Spectacular in Australia and New Zealand.
I’ve never known such tight security at the BFI. Checklists. Wristbands. Vast black barriers in the lobby. Politely phrased embargoes. A ban on recording devices. Emphatically, no spoilers. Even the Thamesside bar was screened off, transformed into a winter wonderland with polystyrene snow, Daleks and Cybermen, ready for the afterparty, which was a lot of fun. The Beeb was pushing that boat out.
Has anyone heard about the theme music / title sequence / end credits designs?
Although I honestly prefer the vibrant vortex from S7P2 to the 50th, I did love the rendition of the theme and the end credits stylings (even without the 11 Doctors). Are any of these things being carried over to Christmas or Series 8?
(despite S7P2 having a really short design run)

Really better off asking on GB?
But yeah I liked the end credits too, I wouldn't mind if it was continued to be used.

Oh you have asked

The BBC America trailer for the episode used the 50th anniversary theme at the end, when it usually uses the current theme tune. So maybe the 50th version is going to carry on. Which is a shame, since the S7P2 theme was pretty good.
Then again, S7 in general was a mess in terms of design. I think they should have held off changing the opening credits or anything until the special, introducing it there as the new titles design and theme tune for S8 and beyond.
I said it a while ago, and I'll remind you again - CoolCorky has a line dedicated to him in Time of The Doctor.

Coming on the 24th. :v:
I like how the two biggest Doctor Who fan ran news websites get together and just by chance run into Peter Capaldi.
Or did Capaldi run into them??? The world may never know..
They made sacrifices in the name of Steven Moffat to have him release Capaldi for a limited amount of time.
