Remember when I asked if 12 could beat "Legs! I've still got legs!" as a first line?
The answer was yes.
The kidneys line was pretty bad. there are 2.47 billion better lines he could have said.
I thought it was funny because he is an older looking Doctor.
Really don't know how I felt about that. I knew it'd be a disappointment, but still...I thought things would be covered in a bit more detail than a sentence or an image flashing for maybe half a second.
Gutted then 10 got a 2 hour episode for his regeneration, and 11 got a 1 hour episode for a regeneration, all plot threads tied up, and a christmas story.
My parents didn't like it as they had no idea who the Silence were, what the crack was, or anything. Moffat really does have a habit of just shoving too much into an episode that has no real impact.
Any stream with rewind where I can watch the episode?
Has nobody mentioned the soundtrack when Capaldi appears? Sounds new. A new Doctor theme, perhaps? That'd be grand. As much as I love Matt's theme, I think Capaldi does need a new one specifically for him.
yeah my dad didnt really get it
but he said he liked the last 15 minutes
Does this count as a Spoiler image? :v

Your post was pretty bad. There are 6.39 billion better posts you could have typed.
That doesn't even make any sense. Unless it was THE most perfect line ever written by anybody, ever - there will always be subjectively better.

That was fast.
I heard there was some special farewell to Matt Smith aired on BBC America prior to the episode. Anyone know if we get it too?
There were some weird expectations for this episode.
A lot of people were calling it "CAPALDAY" like he was going to be in it longer than 10 seconds. In many respects we've been spoiled. When Hartnell become Troughton he had a few seconds screen time and didn't even open his eyes for a single one of them. People didn't even get a good look at Pertwees face until his first episode.
The New Series has spoiled us over the years by having the new Doctor do a few lines of a dialogue and give the previous Doctor time to say goodbye. There were people a lot more focused on the fact this episode would have Capaldi in than people focusing on Smith leaving, the regeneration wasn't rushed. It was prolonged unnecessarily. Like most things Moffat builds up way too much: it just sort of whimpers out. The music and sound blurted out The Doctor's lines, it seemed like it was almost trying really hard to be more HECTIC AND CRAZY than the last regeneration.
I liked the sudden change- maybe because I expected it. The regeneration effect of one face becoming another has always looked naff once it gets to the hair and the jawline, it's been pretty obvious Moffat has been avoiding it with McGann/Hurt/Eccleston. The only reason the Eccleston-Tennant regeneration looked good is because it was Tennant in a bald cap with some of Eccleston's facial features blurred over the top.
I'm excited for Capalday.
But yeah...
Merry Christmas everyone!
I liked the music (what I could hear of it) from the clock tower scene.
It was like The Dark and Endless Dalek Night & I Am The Doctor smashed together.
Oh- and I laughed when the first thing Capaldi did was to intensely stare at Clara until she flinched and stepped back.

To be fair I should've expected this after the Mels>River regen. Although there was loads of regen energy, the change happened in a single headbang

I was really REALLY expecting him to just lash out at Clara and get really pissed off at her.
i came when this is gallifrey or whatever its called now started to play on the clocktower
EDIT: wouldnt mind if the music playing when Capaldi appeared was the 12th Doctor's theme

The entire episode was full of theme reprises. It was glorious.
Also, The Doctor looked pretty much like [sp]Hartnell[/sp] again when the [sp]cycle was reset.[/sp]
Clever.
so did the Timelords give the Doctor a new cycle, or just one more regeneration?
Well, that was a regeneration
that was infinitely better than 10-11.

[sp]He said he was given an entire new cycle didn't he?[/sp]
anyone have a streaming link for us Cable-less non UK heathens?

I was expecting him to jump around and ramble before ending with a line reflecting his utter confusion.
So I sort of got that. But I was expecting the bow tie to come off after he regenerated not before. I went to say something to my mum along the lines of "Oh no, he loves the bow tie :(" but all that came out was a broken high pitch noise. Then my eyes welled up and I couldn't see.
I stopped and took a deep breath and it was all over. That's the most emotion I've ever felt for a regeneration. It was stronger than "I don't want to go" because he wants to go and I wasn't ready.
[sp]He said he was given an entire new cycle didn't he?[/sp]
Dunno, didn't really listen to 11 past the clock tower scene due to sobbing
So the Silents were priests.
Do they just get bored in the future and wear suits?
Also was it explained how the Doctor could lie to the Cyberman/Clara?
Oh just realised- The Doctor went to Trenzalore wearing his holographic clothes right? How did he take them off in the TARDIS at the end?
Also as I teased: It has opened a door for Matt Smith to return to the show at any age.

How, he is in the same place all that time. Tennant can come back at any age and play meta-crysis doctor.
I don't like how the Daleks changing people into puppets means nothing now if they can just over-ride it and go back to acting like there is nothing wrong with them at all, and that it works on non-humans.
How, he is in the same place all that time. 10 can come back at any age and play meta-crysis doc.
There's absolutely no reason he couldn't be plucked from his time stream for a micro second from the perspective of Trenzalore.
As for 10, if he comes back in 25 years I don't want it to be Meta Crisis. I want the Tenth Doctor not some bloke who married Rose. 10 or nothing.
