I couldn't have imagined a more Matt Smith-y way to go. His speech, it felt like it was both The Doctor saying it, and Matt Smith saying it to his fans and audience. And I liked his speech, looking towards the future and letting go, but never forgetting.

I feel like I'm the only person who thought Martha & Mickey should have been in the 50th anniversary.
So yeah, I'm quite sure now originally clara replaced river song in the day of the doctor.
Anyway, saw it all now the episode needed more time to flush out the pacing.
Just finished the episode, it was fucking fantastic.
I don't know if that was the best way to end Smith's era but it was certainly a nice episode and the most badass regeneration so far.

Well, the final scene was super emotional and really great, but holy shit all of the stupid stuff from Moffat's previous episodes that made a return was at its dumbest. For the love of god Moffat saying "doctor who" in the show itself is not clever and it in fact really stupid.
He seems to have this problem where he is using the doctor's renown as a way of storytelling whereas it should be the story which shows off how bad ass the doctor is, if that makes sense ...
I'm really glad that with the brightly coloured Age of Steel? (i think that was the name fuck looking it up) Daleks were so violently ignored in favour of the regular colours.
Also, we haven't gotten a single shot of a skeleton via a Dalek laser, apparently because Moffat prefers explosions and sparks. I miss the Daleks being a valid threat.
