I'm in two minds about that episode, at the time it was amazing and the best/saddest thing but looking back, it was a bit crap really. It felt so rushed and I had to watch it a second time to really understand it, Matts speech got me and my girlfriend all teary eyed but the regen was so fast to Capaldi it was cut short. To be completely honest, I cannot wait for Moff to step down/be replaced, I've had enough of these huge story arcs that build on suspense and mystery only to be shot down with a quick explanation from a somewhat meaningless character. Tasha Lem felt shoe horned in just to explain the silence at the last second, also what was with that bullshit that she could beat the dalek in her? I dunno, just my thoughts really, every show gets its ups and downs. Really fucking sad for Matt to be leaving but happy to see what Capaldi can bring to this.
The only time I remember watching the episode and not wanting The Doctor to regenerate (a complete feeling of dread that built as the episode went on) was Parting of the Ways. I was so sad.

My theory for the quick regeneration.. the 12th Doctor mentions "Do you know how to fly this thing?". What if those characteristics of memory loss had already set in at the end of the 11th Doctor's cycle (after the tower bit) and his body forgot to regenerate properly, hence the sudden change? Kind of like when you're supposed to be remembering something and it suddenly pops into your head.
or you know it was a joke meant to build suspense
Filming does indeed start January 6th - apparently.
I missed the episode and I can't find it anywhere to record it on BBC America, and I just skipped the last ten pages to avoid spoilers. Does anyone have a link where I can watch it online?
Anybody?
Anybody?
Try one of these (make sure you have adblock, these sites are a bit temperamental)
Why does the doctor regenerate when the TARDIS is in flight? The last four regenerations happened inside the TARDIS when it was in motion and they all ended in a crash (only speculating about the war-9th doctor regeneration, the 9th doctor was newly regenerated and had a new TARDIS. The 12th doctor hasn't crashed yet, but it's heading that way.).
[sp]A crack[/sp] [sp]The Doctor told him to remind him to sort out the phone, there was a scene earlier in the special[/sp]
Thanks got interrupted a bit while watching it just rewatched it saw those scenes

As soon as Matt engaged the TARDIS before giving his little speech, I INSTANTLY thought to myself "He's doing this so the next Doctor's entrance will begin with a hectic crash sequence"... Way, way too obvious a setup, and not at all necessary. If they want to go in a more serious tone with Capaldi's Doctor, then hopefully they open it smooth next season and don't have the shit hitting the fan. We'll see eh...
I think I should go back to not giving a damn until weeks after an episode has aired. I don't think I could stave off the self harm.
At this point I'm pretty certain there will be a minisode inbetween now and Series 8.
Could someone edit out the Amy Pond scene so the doctor finishes his speech, cuts to clara, and then cuts to him taking off his bowtie?

The first episode of series 8 is the Doctor cleaning her blood off the instruments and dissolving the larger body parts in a bathtub. There's your more serious tone.
I think he just means he's forgetting stuff just like 8 had amnesia just after his regeneration.
He didn't have the TARDIS for over 500 years.
take yourself back to eleventh hour, post regenerations tend to be rather wacky (although that was implied to have been from Ten postponing it for so long).

There's your more serious tone.
Some episodes from the upcoming serious tone series: Series 8 Episode 1: The Doctor And Racism In this thrilling episode The Doctor and Clara land in an office workplace where a young man called Jerry Smith is persecuted based on the colour of his skin. At the end Jerry can no longer continue to accept the prejudice and drives his car off a bridge. Clara struggles to comes to terms with death. This episode debuts the new look TARDIS which is just a house. Episode 2: The Doctor Deals With Depression Still depressed over the events of the previous week Clara turns to recreational highs to numb the pain. The Doctor is devastated to find Clara naked and crying in the TARDIS bathroom. After weeks of counseling Clara is released finally trusted to be on her own. Tired of his pandering, Clara eventually breaks down and tells The Doctor she's no longer attracted to his wrinkly old body. In a rage The Doctor accidentally strikes Clara. She moves out that night. It's revealed towards the end that everybody forgot The Doctor's birthday. Episode 3: AIDS Episode 4: The Doctor Becomes a Devout Muslim No details on those later episodes but there is a story arc where River helps Clara deal with an unwanted pregnancy. The Doctor also visits a planet where the species have been trafficked into the sex trade by the cruel human overlords. There's also a moving scene where The Doctor cries in the shower. I'll keep you updated as the spoiler hounds leak these no doubt legit details. Oh also Murray is out. The soundtrack is now entirely a low level hum with the occasional slow piano piece.

One thing I noticed in Angels Take Manhatten, a big continuity error, Why didn't River get sent back in time when the Angel grabbed her in the mob boss' office?
All three of the Nu-Who regenerations have ended with the Doctor adjusting to a new body part and then lose control of the TARDIS as it crashes. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline]
One thing I noticed in Angels Take Manhatten, a big continuity error, Why didn't River get sent back in time when the Angel grabbed her in the mob boss' office?
It chose not to send her back in time. Angels have grabbed many things without sending them back in time.
I thought it was because it was in stone form just as it touched her? Same as Clara? People looked at them JUST before they properly touched and could do the process of sending them back in time.
If when they grabbed people they atomically sent them back in time then they never would be able to break necks.
If when they grabbed people they atomically sent them back in time then they never would be able to break necks.
I know, but I thought they'd be trying to send them back in time for food.
in that episode they were infiltrating the planet (although the question remains on how they get on and off planets).
in that episode they were infiltrating the planet (although the question remains on how they get on and off planets).
They fly, duh. They're angels. [sp]In case you don't understand, this is sarcasm.[/sp]
in that episode they were infiltrating the planet (although the question remains on how they get on and off planets).
When nobody's looking at them they're essentially just normal beings I think. They can move and run and fly and use things and whatever.
That must suck when you're trying to get stuff done, "Hey Ted, I want to get to the water fountain, close your eyes." "Alright" *closes* *opens* "God dammit Ted."
When nobody's looking at them they're essentially just normal beings I think. They can move and run and fly and use things and whatever.
I am now imagining a Weeping Angels sitcom. -show starts, audience claps- -shot of a Weeping Angel- -shot of another Weeping Angel- -something falls down, a Weeping Angel puts his hands on his hips and the audience laughs-
