It was quite a long regeneration considering it started on the church roof. The Doctor did warn that he could change instantly at any second.
I think I would have liked it if just for a couple of seconds we'd seen the face change. I dunno, it's just quite an iconic part of the regeneration and to not have it felt.. off.
Yeah, that's it. I just wanted the face change properly.

It's been missing more often than it's been present.
1-2
3-4
7-8
9-10 (really shouldn't count as Chris wasn't present but they tried)
10-11
VS
2-3
5-6
6-7
8-hurt
hurt-9
11-12
It's been missing more often than it's been present.
It wasn't present in 2>3, 8>War. I don't see how it's been missing more often than it's been present. I'd say it was present in 5>6. His face was there, the light thing happened, and the face changed. I guess an argument could be made against it though. :v
It was def there in War>9, even if it was brief.

5-6 is identical to what you got for 11-12.
One minute it's ACTOR1 then a sudden camera angle change and suddenly ACTOR2.
I mean I prefer the transition. It's nice. But I just don't see it as a tradition or majorly important.

Compared to Matt going off screen, the camera angle changes, then Capaldi is there.
That is still not a face transaction. It just changes. You can't see due to the 80's groovy effects.
I've never watched the old episodes. Was the doctor just a random guy who hanged out in Gallifrey, or was he in a position, was he honoured or something? Or do we know?
maybe not in an actual effects way, but you still see the doctor there and then in the same camera angle and everything his face changes, just with 'radiation' over it, it's a clear face change moment compared to the sneeze of capaldi :v:
I dunno, I just felt it was lacking the proper change for me. Definitely by new-who standards anyway.

Just a Timelord who ran away for reasons unknown.
Was made Lord President a few times later in his life. Kept running away.
Really for as much as Ten cried for them he never really saw much of the Timelords. I don't think his home world even got a name until the 70's.
I'll miss 11's flailing about and general awkwardness. He had some wonderful lines.

Unless he specified it somewhere of course, I've not really watched much classic Who. :v:

I guess we'll agree to disagree. The regeneration was longer than Eccleston and not as dragged as Tennant (I count the regeneration as what happened on the clock tower, the TARDIS scene was a bonus).
Companion After Clara: If you are an alien how come you sound Scottish?
Twelve: Lots of planets have a Scotland.
I hope this scene takes place at some point.
So why does Peter use a Scottish accent while playing The Doctor? Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool change.

He was Lord President for a while and if the Cartmel Masterplan ever becomes canon he is one of the founding members of Timelord society and was involved in the invention of time travel.
Couldn't agree with this more. I would kill for darker and more serious episodes. Here's hoping capaldi instates a bit more of a serious tone.
I didn't like this Doctor because of it. He was just far too silly and was hardly ever serious. I really hope Capaldi is different, but considering the general direction of the show now i am not expecting much.
It seems everything has to be some sort of "Everybody lives!" now. That's one of the reasons i hate how they 'retconned' the ending to the Time War. The Time War and what the Doctor was forced to do were meant to be one of his darkest moments. He hated himself for what he had done, but he knew he had no choice. I prefered it much more when he was the Last Timelord, the only real survivor of the Time War, it made him feel a bit more mysterious and darker.
Moffat changing it so that never happened just makes it worse to me. Several times the Doctor has said he remembers doing it and watched it happen, when he didn't really. The Doctor forgetting what he did just makes it feel like it was a way for Moffat to just shove in a happy ending to the Time war to make it so the Doctor hasn't done anything that bad. We've seen he is capable of doing some pretty terrible things, such as what he did to the Family of Blood, so why did the Time War need to be changed? It should of stayed a mysterious thing that gets mentioned occasional but we never really see the things the Doctor was forced to do.
I really want the show to be more serious. I don't like all these non-serious happy ending episodes. There needs to be far more dark and mysterious moments, like if you compare the 'dark' things in this video from Matt to the previous Doctors they are nowhere near the same:

Moffat Tagline: Time can be rewritten.
He did do it. But then he found a better way to do it.
9 couldn't kill the Humans on Earth in Parting of the Ways to stop the Daleks. The Doctor is full of contradictions.
I think he's just saying McCoy was the worst
He was just a victim of the BBC :(
So why does Peter use a Scottish accent while playing The Doctor? Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool change.
Why not? McCoy used a Scottish one and McGann used a Liverpudlian one and Eccleston used a northern one.
So why does Peter use a Scottish accent while playing The Doctor? Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool change.
Because he's Scottish.
He was just a victim of the BBC :(
Don't take it to heart. It's just a Jimmy Carr joke. I doubt he watches the show, the show's writer and him probably just looked up who was Doctor when the show was canned.
Anybody with Who knowledge would probably pick on Colin Baker instead. My local radio did. And Colin is local.
the first 15 seconds of 'New Regeneration Cycle' is amazing because of what it's been previously used for and how memorable it is
i absolutely loved the tolling of the clock tower.
Because he's Scottish.
So is Tennant, but he faked (badlyish) an English accent.

All of that piece of music is amazing. Gold may re-use lots of his stuff, but when he writes something new it's always absolutely cracking

Really love this, at least on par with Vale Decem.
So is Tennant, but he faked (badlyish) an English accent.
Which I still don't understand to this day.
It was because of his love for Rose he mimicked her accent. That was the reason RTD gave, but he also said it was because he didn't want it to sound like The Doctor's accent was "touring the regions"
