Dan, was your name always that long. I don't trust myself to make assumptions at the moment. I could be seeing things.
I think my favourite thing about Clara now is that she doesn't have a universe-spanning super important special plot around her anymore. Amy's one dominated everything around her for nearly her entire run, and even then never really lost it thanks to her relationship with the Doctor. Plus, now that we have Capaldi, the romantic aspect that was always shoved in (but wasn't really that present with clara as much as usual anyway) can be considered dropped. We need more normal people. I really want another companion where the Doctor shows up, has an adventure with them, and goes "hey you want to tag along for a while" rather than the person being super important to the universe somehow. We need the normal person who's reaction is "shit is bananas" rather than just rolling with it with some witty commentary.
happy new year doctor who thread I'd give my top five moments, but I'd rather just say top five things. 1. The Day of the Doctor 2. The Night of the Doctor 3. The Name of the Doctor 4. An Adventure in Space and Time 5. Capaldi Announcement (also I prefer surprise to anticipation, I love those 'oh shit' moments way more than waiting for something to be 'oh shit' - Introducing John Hurt as The Doctor was the single best moment of the year for me in Doctor Who terms at the very least) edit: honourable mention to five-ish doctors
happy two thousand and 14th regeneration my top 5 day night adventure fiveish kidneys
my top 5 grizz grizz grizz being a prick to people in the thread grizz
I was honestly always confused with Clara. In fact, due to me never having time to re-watch anything, I honestly have no recollection of what was up with her anyway. I remember we first saw her on that crashed ship and she wasn't a real person or something, then the Doctor saw her while he was hiding out but she died, then he found here again in 'our time' and they started having adventures together... but beyond that I can't actually recall what the explanation was behind who she really is. I think I was confused as it aired and not watching it again had just left me with mental blanks. Anyone care to fill me in again?
watch the last episode of s7 again.

The Doctor goes looking for her and finds her, she starts travelling with him and eventually jumps into his time stream to save his life. This is where she splinters into loads of other people who all save the Doctor's life in some way - Oswin Oswald in Asylum of the Daleks and Clara from The Snowmen are the two that 11 meet before he decides to go looking for her.

She jumped in The Doctors timeline to save him from The Great Intelligence. It split her off into identical copies and scattered them across his life. She met all The Doctors. Though he managed to never notice her until his Eleventh.

Two was running to the beach so didn't care. Three was patting himself on the back for that 'great balls of fire' line he just delivered. Four didn't have a clue. Five was preoccupied. Six was experimenting with a future TARDIS desktop theme. Seven was beating himself up over his stupid idea to climb down a cliff face with an umbrella. Eight was leaving the beach. Nine didn't need saving - he was badass. Ten was admiring the horizon, because he's the romantic one.
5. "No Sir. All Thirteen" 4. "No Sir. All Thirteen" 3. The Day of the Doctor 2. The Time of the Doctor 1. "No Sir. All Thirteen" And Happy new year Doctor Who thread!
I think An Adventure In Space And Time is my highlight of this year. Quite a mix of emotions, one minute the show could be on a high happy moment (e.g The Daleks appearing and saving the show) but then gets quite sad with Hartnells failing health and him giving up the role but then showing with the appearance of [sp]Matt Smith[/sp] which to me sort of seems a way of saying that because of him giving up the role he allowed the show to go on and become a institution.
You know what with Adventure and Space in Time, I was thinking it would be neat if they got the cast from the movie and redid some of the episodes that were missing.

OMG MOFFAT SO AWESOME BEST WRITER EVER THANK YOU FOR INCREDIBLE EPISODE BEST MOMENT EVER OMG OMG OMG PETER CAPALDI one month later Mr. Moffat doesn't have a clue what he is doing. He is destroying the show and needs to leave immediately, thank you - sign the petition on your way out. Oh, and sign this one for Capaldi to regenerate quickly while you're at it. Signed, Self Appointed Doctor Who Guru Ah, fans. :v:

Signed, Self Appointed Doctor Who Guru Ah, fans. :v:
I just can't fathom how people seem to think that getting rid of the lead writer is a good idea. It's the most dangerous thing you could possibly do to the show. Specially as Moffat himself has said the show is about to take a drastic new direction. Why would you throw him out and send the show in another direction? I can't help but feel people want to give opinions and aren't really thinking about everything properly. Then when the next writer takes over people will still complain because all the writers are exactly the same except one really good one is gone. You'd think Moffat is running this show by himself too. Do people forget there's a group of producers?

10 didn't sound like Rose though.
But Rose was still there with him.
10 didn't sound like Rose though.
He had the same accent. That was written into the script and Tennant was told to do it. It was supposed to be like a duckling mimicking it's mother. It was his colloquialisms and turn of phrase mostly. He sounded like a 21st century guy. Like he was from down the road from Rose. Just a little classier.
Does anyone know if music from the sontaran episodes in series 4 was used in Portal 2? I swear I've heard this track (at least part of it) somewhere in Portal 2.
-snip wrong thread-

It's probably just the same effect.
