He's such a legend [editline]5th January 2014[/editline] Reminds me of that scene in An Adventure in Time and Space where Willliam Hartnell starts playing with the kids
capaldi's like that cool uncle
Some wonderful stories about meeting Mr Capaldi on the net tonight
Episode over. We go and shake hands with Capaldi who stays behind to greet fans. I tell him “welcome to the family”. He gives a genuine smile & thanks. The staff asks us to vacate the space so there’s no time for photos, but Peter says “I’ll see you all outside.” We walk out practically as his posse. We meet him outside where he stays FOREVER, talking to every single fan there is, taking photos with everyone, being so sweet and so comfortable with it all. He bends his knees everytime someone is shorter than him so they get a better photo. As I stand beside him surrounded by dozens of fans to get my photo, I tell him “this is your life now” and he agrees and starts babbling happily about it.
I swear to god he better keep that attitude after filming starts
Some wonderful stories about meeting Mr Capaldi on the net tonight
Confirmed: Peter Capaldi IS the Doctor. I mean. . .as in, actually is the Doctor. Like. . .is literally a centuries-old Time Lord from Gallifrey. . . .he's just too goddamn perfect not to be. Honestly, I think he was an absolutely brilliant choice. I love Smith and Tennant, they were incredible. But as a kid, my Doctors were the Bakers, Tom and Colin. To me, they embodied everything the Doctor should be. Don't get me wrong, all the Doctors were phenomenal in their own right. Each brought something unique and special to the role (even Paul McGann, who gets nowhere near enough love for his Eighth Doctor). But Capaldi, in the tiny scene after his regeneration, somehow seems to take aspects of EVERY Doctor, and incorporate them into his performance. I doubt it's even deliberate, but for me, it's there. He's very believable as the culmination of twelve Doctors (counting the War Doctor), rolled up into one unbelievably awesome actor. And to hear he's every bit as cool in real life. . .all I can say is, "Welcome home, Doctor." Loved him in The Fires of Pompeii, and can't wait to see what he brings to the table.
Heh, if he stayed around to greet fans for that long, he's going to be fucking knackered for filming this morning.
Series 8 Filming begins at The Maltings Within the closed-off complex.

In the unlikely event anything that could be deemed a spoiler was sighted - it will not be posted. I expect that wouldn't be made easy. Update: 10:53
I am at #dwsr. They are setting up! #HappyCapalDay
I would very much like to bring back this gif to show my excitement [editline]6th January 2014[/editline] Also if anyone plays Starbound http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/timelord-mod.329/ here just take it
A splinter unit is filming here :v:
The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit is Prometheus done right. Am I right or am I right?
Oh GB. "First image of Series 8 revealed on Twitter?!?!?!?!?"

Urhm. No. :v:
There's other places I know of who keep putting up pictures of Capaldi really poorly photoshopped into the TARDIS (usually with a blurred and distorted Clara next to him) claiming it's his new costume. Then debate and argument over the costume until somebody finally points out it's a photoshop.
Maltings set transformation.
The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit is Prometheus done right. Am I right or am I right?
Its a shame that they got such low ratings. What's the general opinion of Love & Monsters? That is probably my least favorite episode

Doctor Who and Matt Smith are up for voting on the National Television Awards shortlist. Changes to the categories means we won't see another Doctor-Companion win. Rise against the mighty Broadchurch - you know you want to! http://www.nationaltvawards.com/
Its a shame that they got such low ratings. What's the general opinion of Love & Monsters? That is probably my least favorite episode
It's praised as a modern classic. Better than Shakespeare and almost as good as Breaking Bad. It inspired Mandela and to a lesser extent: Queen. "It was really fucking good. Very funny. Edgy direction. Changed my perspective on life and the universe. Probably the very pinnacle of TV. Laters" - Ghandi
[sp]the Clockwork droids - or some iteration[/sp] by Moffat.
[sp]Clockwork droids were always a cool idea that I would've liked to seen more of. They got the iconic potential with the creepy tick-tock. I would moan that Moffat is running out of his own monsters to bring back but I guess Clockwork Droid was technically a Justin Richards creation for the Ninth Doctor novel :P[/sp] [editline]7th January 2014[/editline]
Nothing mixed about that reaction.
I would say it's leaning towards mixed to positive.
So I was checking Google a few hours back to see the progression of reviews over Series 6 as to how Moffat handled the River Song arc, and I ended up stumbling on a site of very critical buggers regarding the show. I can see at least they're very harsh on things like fan service and originality and plot holes. Probably some fair points, but I do wonder if such scrutunity is appropriate. Also, interesting to see polar opposite takes on certain stories.
Vastra, Jenny & Strax are filming today.
I know it's a long way off, but I'm actually hoping that next year's Christmas special in some way re-visits the Oswalds who are still sitting in Clara's flat (seeing as they never returned in the episode). Especially since it would be Clara walking in with a new man, minutes after the previous one left her.
Capaldi will be so watchable. Extras preparing to film Paternoster

Which for a long time we thought was directed by Wheatley but last night somebody said Episode 1 would would feature [sp]Paternoster and be directed by Freeze Sr[/sp]. Which explains why he's been so quiet :P
He's already filmed scenes on the TARDIS set though, unless he's changed the desktop theme of course.
So yeah the end of this was used in the short version of the 50th trailer DoctorWhoOfficial: Filming has started on the new series of #DoctorWho! Full story and exclusive first pic of the new Doctor very soon…
DoctorWhoOfficial: Filming has started on the new series of #DoctorWho! Full story and exclusive first pic of the new Doctor very soon…
[editline]7th January 2014[/editline] Guess it really is Episode 1 going down first! [editline]7th January 2014[/editline]
Arriving on set in Cardiff to begin filming, Peter Capaldi said: “New job, first day, slightly nervous. Just like the Doctor, I'm emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.” Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, added: “First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.” Accompanying the Doctor on his adventures will be companion Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman. The first episode of series 8 has been written by Steven Moffat with the second episode penned by Phil Ford. These are the first episodes that Peter will shoot and are directed by Ben Wheatley. Ben Stephenson, Controller of Drama Commissioning, said: "Excitement and anticipation fills the air as Peter Capaldi’s Doctor takes control of the TARDIS for the very first time today. It’s going to be one hell of a ride and I can't wait for the journey to start." Charlotte Moore, Controller BBC One, commented: "A new year, a new face, a new Doctor! 2014 has arrived and it's Peter Capaldi's time so let the adventures begin!" Filming is taking place in Cardiff until August 2014. Doctor Who is executive produced by Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin, and produced by Nikki Wilson and Peter Bennett. It is a BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC One.
