BBC America is offered by most television providers AFAIK. Just not under a basic plan.

All Doctor Who fan titles all look like fan titles.
Especially ones that have fancy sequences for the sake of fancy sequences. Showing the TARDIS flying through a canyon on Gallifrey, for example, would just have no place at the start of every episode. As many high profile writers will tell you - even in a world where anything is possible - there needs to be a reason for what happens.
Great for showing off your abilities and processing power. Not so great for the show.
I showed my dad Xander's set of titles a while back and he said visually they were stunning but they don't fit the show at all. The TARDIS isn't [I]primarily[/I] a battle machine (and neither is the Doctor) so having it smash through things and going through a line of fire doesn't really work with the whole feel of the Doctor and the TARDIS within the show.
Xander is too immature to ever be taken seriously as a VFX artist anyway so don't worry
The thing is with most of the fan titles is that they think that having a lot of lens flares and bloom makes it look good - which can work in some cases, but certainly not for Doctor Who. The reason why the BBC titles (for the revival) look the best is because of the colours - particularly the 2005-10 and 2013 title sequences.

I sometimes wonder if the reason Xander got so mad over Day of the Doctor was because they simply used the Hartnell titles instead of spending millions on a big fancy title sequence to match his.

Yeah that's hardly a well written story by any stretch. It was just an excuse to have a big cast blow up some Daleks. It was fan wank through and through. In the classic series and most new-series episodes Daleks are motivated by racial superiority and cleansing. They are Nazis. Journey's End was a mad man wanting to blow up the universe by pressing a button. It's the sort of plot you see in a saturday morning cartoon or a 90's video game. It really was diabolical writing.
Great fun to watch, I'll admit. Cribbins taking out a Dalek with a paint gun is endless fun. But whenever an evil genius' plan amounts to wiping out everything including himself I can't possibly take it seriously. He's supposed to be a genius.

Practically any Doctor Who story seems to have its fans and non-fans. The classic episodes suffer this in particular, it seems, with every one I uncover having people lauding it as either their top favorite episode or the worst in the pile of cheap failures. I suppose with time passing, people are finding ways to apply this judgement to the new episodes as well.
