"I think he's a brilliant choice," he said. "I honestly think, knowing Peter as I do, that he could well turn out to be the best of the lot. I really do." It's a bold statement, but I have to admit - it's one that I certainly agree with. And the reasons McGann thinks he'll be so good? Well… see for yourself. "He's got the combination of steel and comedy and intelligence that is the Doctor," he explained. "He might just turn out to be a genius, a master stroke. Because we know how good he is. One thing that Capaldi does, and I know it might sound daft because there's lots of clever actors, but not that many who can act highly intelligent - he can." Of course, we all know Peter Capaldi from the marvellous British comedy, 'The Thick Of It'. And it's his portrayal of Malcolm Tucker - an aggressive, profanity-spouting Director of Communications - which showcases his ability to act intelligently. He is, after all, a clever (if incredibly ruthless) character. "He's a super brain, Peter… he's even won an Oscar as a director," said McGann. "He's a brilliant man who can act brilliantly - he can also be funny, but he can be scary while he's being funny and that might turn out to be the best combination of Doctor." But while many 'Doctor Who' fans applaud the decision to cast a more mature Doctor, is this really the right time? After all, the current audience might be a bit too used to the fresh-faces of Matt Smith and David Tennant… "It's good that they made that decision at this point in time," said McGann. "To get away from some young, handsome guy - bring a different gravitas to it. I have every hope for him that he's going to be the best."
I hope Capaldi has a multi Doctor story so we could have Mcgann back on
People always mention Freeze here and I frequent the thread enough to feel disappointed in myself when I don't get the joke. Help.
His dad works on the Doctor Who team, I think.
I always wondered who his dad is and what episodes he directed or worked on.
It's funny, I play a bit of prop hunt these days, and all the girls that play are exactly the same... "I love David Tennant and Matt Smith! But I don't like that Pedro Capoldo guy, not because he can't act or anything, I just don't like him" "Oh, well what about Christopher Eccleston?" "Who's that??" Kill me. I just tell them all I have a Jon Pertwee fetish and they get even more confused.

Are you looking forward to the episode where The Doctor traps his hand beneath a rock and has to cut it off with a penknife?

Woo,i have finally caught up with the series! Now....would anyone be kind to tell me if Peter Capaldi will get a new sonic screwdriver? Or a new T.A.R.D.I.S?
It was rumoured that he was getting a tweaked TARDIS exterior - but so far it has been the same on set, so I doubt it. Hey Freeze. :v: He hasn't been seen with the sonic, yet. Hey Freeze. :v:
don't get your hopes up for a new sonic
Woah what could that mean stop being so cryptic
Fantastic x 13?
thirtastic
If Eccleston had come back - they should have just casually mixed Capaldi in with the first 12 Doctors then had 9 for the big reveal. Because it probably would have been even more shocking :v:

"No sir, all thirteen!" "FANTASTIC!"
