I've come to accept that all Doctor 12 promo pictures will look like this
But it's hard to look menacing when YOUR T-SHIRT HAS SEQUINS ON IT

Seeing things like this almost makes me forgive the execution of the three-year arc. 11 had a nice symmetry.
Oh my god this is just brilliant !! It makes me cry...
Was watching Gridlock again after several years (I watched it when it was originally on), did anyone find it quite potent thinking that the people stuck in that motorway having only one or two people stuck for company for the most part, watching a person who they think is real while the city that they hold so dear is rotting away and them clinging to false hope.
Has Moffat ever dared reveal how long he had ideas for his arc on paper? I imagine he would just lie. I mean, chronologically, The Silence arc starts with Day of The Doctor. Everyone really screwed themselves over in that war. The Doctor locked Gallifrey away - causing 'The Question' to be asked. Tasha Lem tried to prevent a war - causing 'an endless, bitter war' to start. Kovarian blew up the TARDIS - didn't check to see if The Doctor was in it, first. River failed to shoot The Doctor (at first) - causing viewers to endure an alt-timeline finale for no gorram reason. The Doctor tried to erase himself from the Universe - ended up drawing attention to himself. I'm not going to blame The Doctor. I'm going to blame Ken Bones. He really wanted an answer to that question.
The Silence arc actually started with the Eleventh Hour if you ask me.
The Eleventh Hour takes place after Day (Gallifrey) / Time (Trenzalore). We hear of the Silence in 11's first story, but we see how they started in 11's last. Kovarian blew up the TARDIS, causing the cracks in time. But without those cracks in time, The Question would never have been asked and the whole affair could have been avoided. :v: So you could say that it started at various points. - The TARDIS Explodes (The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang) - Gallifrey is hidden (even the First Doctor had a hand in this one) - Ken Bones asks 'The Question' - Tasha Lem's emergency faith change
I reckon he made it up as he went along, cause there are some things that still don't make sense. Like Amy's reaction in the TARDIS in The Lodger and the TARDIS-like ships spread everywhere. I think he wanted to go in a completely different direction but ballsed it and changed his mind.
What's that Doctor Who episode where David Tennant is in or relates to a race in some way. I think it was on New Earth and it kinda sucked.
I think he wanted to go in a completely different direction but ballsed it and changed his mind.
Well, he lost out on progressing with it in Series 7. Whether that was his decision or somebody higher-up, I think he had to go a different way.
Didn't it come out that he expected Matt to go on for one more series or something, and then when Matt left unexpectedly at Christmas he had to tie up all the plot points in one episode to give Capaldi a clean slate?
Probably. Matt's decision to leave and Karen too earlier on, I imagine planning out Series 7 & beyond, with Clara's story as well on top of the anniversary stuff with the creation of yet another Doctor... was a bit tricky. I think Moffat deserves a lot more credit for what he has pulled off. It was ambitious. Really looking forward to a reasonably fresh start.
As an enclosed story, with all things stemming from one place, I guess the Silence arc technically starts with the Silence in the Library two parter, with River Song's death, before being put on hiatus until the Eleventh Hour. River was one of Kovarian's attempts to kill the Doctor, after all. But yeah, it does feel like he just sorta made it up as he went along.
I should point out that in terms of when it began / what caused it, I meant in-universe and who was ultimately responsible :v: How much Moffat had planned was another matter :P
The Eleventh Hour is the first one with 11?
Not counting his post-regeneration scene in The End of Time, yes :v:
Great episode that Eleventh hour was one of the best eps of nu-who, hands down
Great episode that Eleventh hour was one of the best eps of nu-who, hands down
Yet still "Vincent and the Doctor" remains as my favourite in the entire series. Tears were shed.
Even if you don't like Friends that much this is pretty good:
Even if you don't like Friends that much this is pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHnNHtQXNps
Ewh, the ending shot of DotD, ewh get it away. If/when we get back to Gallifrey I wonder if we'll see any old faces. There's so many ways to handle it and so many old friends that could be seen. Rassilon, the Master, Romana, Leela, K-9 mk1, Drax, the woman of End of Time, and the CIA among others. The Weeping Angels could be tied in there because apparently they have something to do with Time Lord culture... infinite possibilities.
I know it's practically impossible, but I'd love more John Hurt. He handled the role of Time War Doctor pretty well.
as awesome as he was in his role, unless we revisit war torn gallifrey and cover all of that, he sadly won't be here.
hopefully big finish gets the new-who license soon so we can get a 'war doctor adventures' series going
hopefully big finish gets the new-who license soon so we can get a 'war doctor adventures' series going
what's stopping them from doing that, anyway?
i think the point of the war doctor was so they could have someone mega famous play the Doctor for the 50th he was a one off.
what's stopping them from doing that, anyway?
Not having the license to nu-who
Not having the license to nu-who
thats what i meant, whats stopping them from getting the license
