They'll be filming his new episodes before his first on screen appearance.
Unless they aren't running a series 8 next year. But signs are pointing to a delayed series 8 with a full run of 13 episodes.

One person posted on GB that they [sp]have a friend who has been invited to an audition. They are almost certainly interviewing complete unknowns and fairly young people at that.
That said during Matt's audition there were young people, middle aged people, old people and black people. So you really can't guess who else is at the auditions based on one person.
I find it interesting that 11 and 12 are being found through an audition process. 10 and 9 were offered. I like the writer having an actor in mind rather than just offering it up like any old job, you'd be surprised who would say yes. I imagine they never expected Chris to say yes.[/sp]

Yeah I took it back instantly after but edited out of my post as it was too long.
In the past I've lamented at the term "Doctor Material". Thinking like that would've meant Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, and Chris would've never been casted.
The mark of a good actor is one that can step into a well-established role (such as The Doctor) and truly make it their own.

Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw it. If Bill Hartnell was cast today, loads of people would stop watching because 'he isn't the doctor!! He's too old!!'
I really hope we get a middle aged Doctor this time, I've had enough of the young spritely Doctor.
I remember a fellow Who fan telling me once that each incarnation is supposed to look younger than the last, as a quirk of the regeneration process is the body regenerating "too much" and making you younger.
Whether this is actually true though or just their speculation I can't remember.
Though I suppose that would make sense, because if the doctor just died of old age (like the first), regenerating to the same age would be a little pointless.
Doesn't make much sense seeing how River looks older when she goes from "Mels" to her current body. Looks more like she aged 20 years.

I always thought this was true. Just purely based on all of them getting younger over time.
I'd like to see an old Doctor again.
What do you guys think about a reboot? Since the last regeneration is coming up soon, I think it'd be awesome. Or do you think they'll just Moffat in a way for more regenerations?
