Neil Cross said he was waiting to write for S8 last year - so his name being announced wouldn't be a surprise.
Hoping they reveal some of the new writers Minchin talked about soon.
We've known Gareth Roberts was returning for awhile now
We knew he was writing another episode - but that doesn't always translate to being produced, as we know.

fucking hell, its the principle of it all. You shouldn't just post tagged pictures that are spoilers in the thread.
Spoiler tags for texts posts are cool.
“THE DOCTOR: Changing time is tricky. It’s a bit like a detective story: so as long there isn’t an actual body, you’ve got a certain amount of wiggle room – for instance, if the body has, rather conveniently, been burned on a boat in Utah.
“Here’s the thing: I can change the future so long as the future has not already been established as part of my own past. I can’t rescue Amy and Rory because I already know that I didn’t.
“But what do I know about Trenzalore? There’s a big monument that looks very like my TARDIS. There’s a temporal fissure leading to my timeline. Maybe it’s my grave. Maybe, one day, it’s my burial ground. Maybe it is something else entirely, and we got it all wrong. Don’t know. Don’t plan to find out for as long as possible. The main thing is, Clara still jumped into my time stream, and ended up helping me through all of my life. All that is established, unchanged – but there’s wiggle room!”

You can't blame somebody for assuming that a prop not changing counts as a spoiler. There was never any indication that it would change. The BBC aren't likely to 'announce' that it isn't changing. Just like 9-10.

well, it kinda does. what he was doing in the photo and how he was dressed, also a spoiler.
is it so bad to not want to know every little detail before i watch?
So it was holes in the jumper, not sequins.
Oh well.

To be fair, the only different thing in it was the coat - and yet we seem to be talking openly about his other outfit in this episode. He was just pointing his (The Doctor's) screwdriver in the picture. Which is not going to come as any surprise to anybody who has watched the series.

There is speculation that Capaldi might drop the screwdriver like how JNT stopped its use in the 80s. Seeing it in shots is an early dismissal of that theory, that's all.
After watching Captain America for the 5th time I finally noticed Jenna :v:

Exactly. A baseless theory was thrown out. I don't see how that's a problem :v:
Dan and I once speculated on such things here - we were told to shut up. I should probably follow his example.

To be fair, Davison had a good 15 or so episodes under his belt before the sonic was scrapped.
To be fair, Davison had a good 15 or so episodes under his belt before the sonic was scrapped.
True, though I am wondering how they could write the Sonic out for Twleve midway. It would have to be of his own volition, considering it's been shown he and the TARDIS can make new copies whenever he loses it. Eleven went through three of them with the shark biting the one in a Christmas Carol and leaving the Ganger his in the Almost People thing. And then the other media does it even more.
Come to think of it, that makes him seem a bit more of a jerk when he wouldn't sell his to the merchants in Rings of Arkatam.

not really, it's been shown time and time again in the past few series to be a pretty impressive bit of technology and just giving it away to some random merchant could have some pretty dire consequences

That's true. DWM's comics made it a plot point when a Soviet who stole his screwdriver died, M16 agents recovered it and used it to understand all their captured alien tech to create a space division called Wonderland. Interesting stuff, that.
I don't want his screwdriver to be scrapped. It's a main thing in the show.
I hope they at least tone it down a bit, it's gotten too "magic wand-y" as of late.
I'll say this much about the infamous use on the door in Rings of Arkatan, they convinced me with the rapidly-changing door lock combination and the difficulty the screwdriver would have interfacing that. The bit with the Doctor straining as he held the screwdriver directly under the door, struggling to keep it aimed did feel a bit ludicrous, though.
I don't want his screwdriver to be scrapped. It's a main thing in the show.
Actually the main thing is the TARDIS
Actually the main thing is the TARDIS
Actually I'm fairly certain the main thing is the guy the show's named after

Smith on regeneration.
How about a regeneration where he's beheaded in medieval France and grows a new body from the head, then keeps the old body in a jar on the TARDIS
An Adventure in Space and Time was released on Blu-Ray in the US last week.
