My favorite is definitely The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. Its a shame that both of those are two of the least watched episodes because when I first watched it on Netflix I was drawn in by all the crazy things that were happening and when the Doctor was actually descending into the pit with no background behind him it was just awesome
I think the Gasmask two parter from the first season was the greatest.
I got a few bad dreams from that episode. :v:
The second half of the Time of the Doctor had my friend entranced. She was so amazed by it, almost moved to tears by his speech. She's now demanding we watch it all from Eccleston so she can be amazed like that once it starts up again.
Peter Harness and Jamie Mathieson writing episodes. Anyone who wanted to wait until the opening credits to find out who the new writers are - tough :v:
good one grizz, you sure showed us
On par with your classic gags.
Hope I didn't miss the "favorite episode" train, but my top three (in no particular order) are The End of Time, The Doctor's Wife, and The Day of the Doctor.
Dalek, Day of the Doctor, Parting of the Ways In order
Gasmasks, Blink and either Stormagedeon or Spooky Library for third.
Gasmasks, Blink and either Stormagedeon or Spooky Library for third.
i would probably love the gas masks episode if i could work up the courage to watch it again i havent watched it since it first aired and i was like 9, i had nightmares for ages afterwards. only episodes i haven't seen more than once.
You seriously got Nightmares from the Empty Child/The Doctor Dances?
They're pretty spooky generally, the scene where the doctor grows a gas mask out of his face and tries to kill the more different time travel doctor is kind of scary. Like that scene in LotR where the old guy freaks out about the ring for like two seconds and it's terrifying. I'll probably never watch Angels Take Manhattan again for a similar reason, I watched Titanic when I was super young and all I remembered as there was a hot guy who drowned at the end when the ship split in half and everyone was screaming and dying as the captain shot people and then they wound up at the statue of liberty. I've been terrified of the statue of liberty ever since and it's terrible.
Got up to the S4 finale on the blind watch by that guy, he genuinely believes 10 is gone that episode :v: Love his thoughts though, I always like to see what people think of episodes I enjoy. Brought a breath of fresh air re-watching the series.
You seriously got Nightmares from the Empty Child/The Doctor Dances?
I was nine years old. It was creepy as fuck. I can still remember everything about it, it's stuck with me for life. It put me off watching Doctor Who for a whole series (I didn't watch series 2 live because I was too scared to). I wish there was an episode as scary as that two parter and broadcasted now.

it wasn't scary at all though. the only thing that made me feel really uneasy was when the statue of liberty was staring people out on the rooftop, couldn't look at it.
This brief five seconds became nightmare fuel for me:
it wasn't scary at all though. the only thing that made me feel really uneasy was when the statue of liberty was staring people out on the rooftop, couldn't look at it.
you're not nine anymore
you're not nine anymore
objectively, though. Blink was probably the closest thing to being as scary as TEC/TDD
A bit of TEC/TDD was the first Doctor Who thing I ever saw. It was being repeated on TV at about midnight, and I'd wandered downstairs to get a drink. I genuinely thought it was a horror film.
Blink was the first Doctor Who thing I ever saw :D
the first doctor who thing i ever saw was an engadget (or maybe it was TUAW) article on how silence in the library had apple keyboards in it it was ages ago [editline]1st May 2014[/editline] http://www.tuaw.com/2008/06/03/flickr-find-macs-in-the-51st-century/ i'm amazed i remember this
The first Doctor Who episode I saw was the Eleventh Hour. Great episode.
Same, I've posted the following before but I'll darn post it again :v: Eleventh Hour was the first, it got me hooked, and Matt is my favorite by far. Made me start watching from Series 1 up to Series 5 in the span of 5 days, barely sleeping and eating only noodle soup , I cried when 9 and 10 left and was hoping 11 would stay longer than 10 did. Now I'm glad Matt didn't stay longer, the writing for him was getting unbearably shit, he had a good send off and I cried too when he left, they were all awesome.
am I in a minority when I say that the first episode I saw was Rose the night it was broadcast, then although I guess technically I saw about half of a Peter Davidson episode before that, can't really remember what it was about though
the writing for him was getting unbearably shit
jesus some of the episodes in series 7 weren't great but I wouldn't call them 'unbearable shit' (except maybe rings of akhaten bar the speech)
jesus some of the episodes in series 7 weren't great but I wouldn't call them 'unbearable shit' (except maybe rings of akhaten bar the speech)
That's what I thought though, and for most episodes of S7. It's like I loved half of them and hated half of them. It got way too "power of lovey saves the end of the day" in 60% of the episodes from what I remember, and the whole screwdriver magic wand - but those topics have already been discussed to death in this thread so I don't want to kick them off again. That and they made the him "feel" way too weird for me, I have a hard time explaining how I mean with "weird" though
The first episode I ever watched was Love and Monsters. Not even joking.
jesus some of the episodes in series 7 weren't great but I wouldn't call them 'unbearable shit' (except maybe rings of akhaten bar the speech)
Both parts of Season 7 had several good things in them, but most of it was shit. And my god, the send-off of Ponds was one of the most ridiculous, atrocious, and anti-climatic things I ever saw on TV, and I saw the ending of Dexter.

All I remember is my uncle (who's a massive fan) got very excited about it.
