Early details have been revealed on a new Doctor Who hardback novel entitled “Engines of War“, written by George Mann.
The story will fill in some of the blanks of John Hurt’s incarnation and events in the Time War leading up to The Day of the Doctor.
Mann teases what fans can expect in the new DWM: “A new companion! Calculating Time Lords! New Dalek paradigms! It’s a war story, at its heart, set against the backdrop of great turmoil and chaos.
“But it’s also about the Doctor’s personal journey, how he ends up where he is at the beginning of The Day of the Doctor. He’s been through the wringer; and in Engines of War, he’s not given any reprieve.”
The hardcover release is is released 31 July 2014 (RRP £12.99).
Imagine if we got an audiobook version read by John Hurt.
Cool, I hope we get more War Doctor media, even if not on the screen.

I just want a spinoff series with the first season being more Eighth Doctor adventures with a Classic Who feel, ending with an extended version of his regeneration scene. Then the second season is lots of dramatic, action-y episodes with the War Doctor leading up to his involvement with Ten and Eleven in Day of the Doctor.
hey doesn't this all mean that audio adventures can touch the time war now
hey doesn't this all mean that audio adventures can touch the time war now
if you mean big finish - sadly no. they don't have the new-who license yet
if you mean the general audio books - yes
I just remembered a joke PC made to the family stood by us who came to watch filming. He held his hand out to one of the children as he stood next to a steep bit of path saying, 'I may need a hand getting up here, I am 2000 years old'
Just rewatched the day of the doctor so did ten keep some of the memories of the episode as 11 says i remember this almost.

Just a heads up, loads of Doctor Who Series 6 is playing on the Watch channel, 124 on Virgin Media if anyone is interested.

Eleven says, "The time streams are out of sync, you can't retain it, no." to Captain Grumpy. Ten also says, "I won't remember either." to Eleven before he goes.
My personal perspective is the Doctor can't consciously remember encounters with himself unless he is in a multi-Doctor situation. (Even sneakier headcanon is he can remember everything when he's regenerating, thus a personal retcon of, "I don't want to go." if you like.)

Goddamn, is EVERY old British man given a knighthood or something?
Might do some CGI with Capaldi's first scene, but basic CGI involving the TARDIS, earth and moon or something and mix the scenes together so it's like the start of an episode. Special effects aren't exactly my strong point as my skills are strongly towards editing, but I've been meaning to learn basic ones and learn something new.
Then, I may create my own title sequence, but that all depends whether it looks good enough. Most likely I'll do a remake to the Series 4 introduction with the same intensity and speed.
Mark Gatiss is in next week's Game of Thrones.
Here's what I have so far :v:

Maybe it's looking a little bit too much like 9th/10th Doc's intro though..
Or would this be better?

The second one makes it a bit more, I dunno.. mysterious. But I really like it.
Good start, I used Maya and opted to do it 3D like the first 11th Doctor sequence but could never get the texture right. Are you using After Effects?

Then again that was four years ago, I could probably do a decent attempt now. Don't have my computer here in Canada though

Yeah After Effects. I was wanting to use Cinema 4D as I'd probably be able to achieve what the 5th/6th series intro was if I put a huge amount of time into it, although I haven't used it for a while so opted with AE.
Basically, I used some coding from various places which allowed the texture to wiggle and create the illusion it is in a vortex, when it's actually in 2D space. I'll most likely have to key my 3D TARDIS in though, so that may take extra work to get the animation right.
Here's what I have so far, happy with the colours, etc but may alter the weave of the vortex a little bit as it is repetitive. Will speed it up for final edit:

Looking good! Try finding some obscure but good version of the theme aswell.
Looks great, but also still very similar to the original new-who opening in my opinion. Maybe try a new colour scheme or something to make it different? Even saying that though as I said, it still looks good!
