I'm wondering if that image played a part in my sub-concious to buy The Deadly Assassin on DVD earlier.

Anyway, does anyone here own a complete as humanly possible collection of classic Doctor Who DVDs? I'm interested in just how much space it takes up on a shelf.

The shelf would have to be about 2 metres to fit just the serials, it would have to be even longer if you include extras like Scream of the Shalka and K9 & Co.

Because they did.

Just remember that it's backwards. They didn't turn out to be Confessional Priests - they started that way. Once The Silence was formed, some broke away and others remained loyal to the Papal Mainframe.

Those that travelled back in time, desperate to kill The Doctor before he reached Trenzalore, influenced Human history for thousands of years on Earth. During that time, we saw them not only willing to kill innocents but later, their Human associates - in the form of Kovarian.

My uncle has most of them (I think it's just the weird ones like Shalka he's missing), but he's starting transplanting the discs and the covers into slimline DVD cases so he can technically fit twice the amount on his shelves.

This is really well done. Neonvisual should be taking notes because this is how you pull off a VFX reel - subtle VFX that the untrained eye isn't able to notice.

Edit: Look at the title of this video, I guess modesty isn't his strong point.

He says it was done in twelve hours but I believe he's been working on those clips for ages now, only it's just he's edited them together for the trailer in twelve hours.

It's not even very good. It doesn't get you hyped that much like the other trailers do. It's just a fan made intro with 'August' at the end. :v

Honestly, I think NeonVisual's one good intro (I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about) was a fluke. The guy is good at making impressive looking things but not very good at making things that make you experience emotions like excitement or fear or really anything (apart from like I said, that one good trailer).

If you look at the 'Rain' trailer from John Smith you feel excited watching it (just like most of his other stuff, if it isn't excitement it's laughter or fear). The same can't be said for most of NeonVisual's trailers and intros.

Agree 100% with you. Doctor Who isn't a Michael Bay film and never has been. There's too much going on in his title sequence and while some of it is pretty cool, it doesn't fit Doctor Who and any mild approval I have for his work is heavily outweighed by disdain for his arrogance and self-entitlement.

Kovarian did kind of mistreat and misuse them, they were like slaves to her.

Did she? If I recall, Kovarian and the Silents were only seen together in two episodes. In Closing Time, she referred to them as River's owners. In Wedding of River Song, they sprung a trap for The Doctor and set off the eye drives. She was working for them, and they could kill her at any moment they liked.

Those cases are nice and spoiler free compared to the original DVD sleeves. Like having Davros on the front case. Any Doctor Who fan who was catching up on the reboot would be ruined. Also new viewers know what to expect.
