As someone who edits, I take pleasure in seeing other people better my work. It makes me work harder and push my abilities. If the BBC go for someone else's entry, then that is because my style of work wasn't matching theirs, it's usually why it pays to be versatile.

From the current cast list it looks like part of it (if a small part, a part none-the-less) will focus on his Day of the Doctor appearance and are casting Matt Smith and Steven Moffat. If they cast the actual people as themselves it will be weird and if they don't it will be weird. It's just gonna be weird.

I can also confirm that in the five minutes post-watershed, The Doctor really lets rip in a string of what are sure to be controversial scenes containing what some would call violent sexual imagery. Also something about tearing off Vastra's skin and wearing it to her mother's birthday party... the dinosaur takes offence.

Also it wouldn't be right to cast Matt and Steven as Matt and Steven. It's supposed to be a fiction, you risk blurring the lines getting the real people in. It'll also be well weird.
