In the same episode Capaldi appeared in was also Karen Gillan before she became Amy, Army of Ghosts had Freema Agyeman before she became Martha, and The Daleks' Master Plan had Nicholas Courtney before he became the Brigadier. Those are the ones that came to mind.
it says that in that specific clip there is another doctor who debut (not capaldi)
is karen gillan in the background or something?
i thought that clip had the part where she peered around the corner but perhaps not
So do they explain in the new series how Peter Capaldi has been in doctor who before.
and what does Nass mean the doctor we have now is a "copy".
1) Apparently they reference it. Capaldi said at a screening in Sydney that his Pompeii character maybe wasn't who he said he was. No word on the Torchwood character yet.
2) Nass has taken a line of dialogue and interpreted it totally incorrectly and then made up some convoluted theory to support his incorrect interpretation. Then rather at any point briefly entertain the notion he's wrong and taking it all way too seriously- uses it to attack the show. A show he clearly dislikes but watches weekly anyway and makes charts about.

Is Moffat rewriting stories so severely that he has to be credited?
Or has the BBC decided they need somebody else to write with Moffat to keep him reigned in?
I wonder which theory the nay-sayers on Doctor Who forums will champion. Either way I think the Moffat haters will welcome it as good news.
[editline]18th August 2014[/editline]
Who am I kidding? Doctor Who forum users will never look at it positively and will be predetermined to find a way to turn this against him, even though it's something they've demanded for years.
I can't wait to read a ham-fisted comment along the lines off: "MOFFAT CAN'T TRUST HIS OWN WRITERS AND PREFERS TO INFLATE HIS OWN EGO BY STICKING HIS FAT FINGERS IN ALL THE DOCTOR WHO PIES"
He hasn't touched any of the newcomers scripts. Not enough to want a credit at least. That's nice.
I think it's good to see that he's had a good part in building up the first few episodes of the new Doctor. Good for continuity and development. Not that he didn't touch scripts previously.

If I PM someone a reaction to Deep Breath will they post it for me on Saturday?? I'm not here because Reading but I've already seen the ep and want to post an EG19 post to keep you all satiated.
I love the name 'Mummy in the Orient Express'. Reminds me of the Agatha Christie episode.

Apparently Armando Iannucci is talking to Moffat about writing a future episode.
The source is Armando Iannucci.

Holy shit they're making an actual episode out of it :D
Remember at the finale of S5 at the very last scene where he gets a phone call

Would be awesome if it were these, as unlikely as that is. Though they just got themselves into the Monsters series of novel re-releases, so there might be a cause for promotion.
According to Phil Ford - Moffat wrote what we have seen from Into the Dalek so far.
At that gets him a writing credit? Doubtful. RTD rewrote whole episodes without a credit.
All the writers with a dual credit are the ones I'd want to have a little hand from Moffat.

It's beautiful *cries*
I can't believe we're getting Capaldi. It's happening. It wasn't a cruel joke. The world didn't end. We didn't die. We made it.
It's happening. For some of us it's happened. Ahhhhhh.
(I'm starting to think I'm the only person here who hasn't seen the episode at some point)
He didn't say that's all Moffat wrote of Episode 2.
"If [the Twelfth Doctor] offers you the chance to come with him, and you hesitate, he's gone."
"My eyebrows, which I've never taken much notice of in my life before, [Steven Moffat has] decided are the most amazing comic devices. Now in the scripts, as a stage direction, insread of saying, 'The Doctor looks peeved,' or 'The Doctor looks annoyed,' they just write 'Eyebrows.' I'm supposed to do something with my eyebrows."
"What that means is, the character is finding its own tics and its own shape. That's a good thing."
The day after Deep Breath, I have to pack up and return to college.
So this is being like a very bittersweet weekend.

I'm still torn about Capaldi's outfit in some shots it looks well-fitting a slim and awesome, like so:

But then other times, well...

Looks well fitting in both. Jackets open when they run.
I think he tries to open it intentionally as a mannerism to show off the inside.

Radio Times confirms Chris Addison is in the finale.
Hot on the heels of bookies putting him down as a favourite to be the future companion.
Radio Times also has plot details and quotes for all the episodes. Blogtor put up some highlights:
Some are way more spoiler-y than others, be warned.
[sp]Deep Breath
"Who frowned me this face?"
A slaughterhouse restaurant and a buried spaceship lead The Doctor into a confrontation with a long-forgotten foe...
Into The Dalek
"Imagine the worst thing in the universe, and then don't bother because you're looking at right now. This is evil refined as engineering."
In the dying days of a bitter war, a beleaguered army has one last hope: a Dalek so damaged it has become good. But can it be trusted? To find out, a miniaturised team, led by The Doctor and Clara, embark on a fantastic voyage into the Dalek itself...
Robot of Sherwood
"There's no such thing as Robin Hood!"
In a sun-dappled Sherwood Forest, The Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars. But with of Nottingham at stake (and possibly Derby), there's no time for the two adventurers to get into a fight about who is real and who isn't - which is probably why they do very little else!
Listen
"What's that in the mirror, and the corner of your eye? What's the footstep following, but never passing by?"
What scares the grand old man of time? What horrors lurk under his bed? Ghosts of the past and future crowd into the lives of The Doctor and Clara; a terrified caretaker in a children's home, the last man standing in the universe, and a little boy who doesn't want to join the army...
Time Heist
"Welcome to the bank of Karabraxos."
The Bank of Karabraxos is the deadliest bank in the cosmos - only a fool or genius would tempt to rob it. Fortunately, for The Doctor, he's both. But nothing even The Doctor has encountered can prepare them for the Teller: a creature of terrifying power that can detect guilt.
The Caretaker
"Human beings have incredibly short life-spans. Frankly, you should all be in a permanent state of panic. Tick tock, tick tock."
Clara has it all under control: her life at school, her life in space; her new boyfriend and her mad old Time Lord. Everything is humming along just fine, so long as everybody never actually meets. And then, one morning, just before assembly, Coal Hill welcomes a new relief caretaker with a Scottish accent.
Kill the Moon
"The little planetoid that's been tagging along beside you for a hundred million years, which gives you light at night and seas to sail, is in the process of falling to bits."
In the near future, The Doctor and Clara arrive on a decrepit shuttle making a suicide mission to the Moon. Crashing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of eviscerated corpses, spider-like creatures scuttling about in the dark, and a terrible dilemma.
Mummy on the Orient Express
"Start the clock!"
Aboard the most beautiful train in history, speeding among the stars of the future, a legend is stalking the passengers. Once you see the Mummy, you have 66 seconds to live. Clara sees The Doctor at his most deadliest and most ruthless - and finally she realises she's made the right decision. Because this is their last adventure: it's time to say goodbye to the Time Lord.
Flatline
"Look, your home isn't going anywhere. And neither is mine until I figure this out."
Separated from The Doctor, Clara discovers a new menace from another dimension. But how do you hide when event the walls are no protection.
In the Forest of the Night
"D'you like the forest being in Trafalgar Square? I think it's lovely."
One morning in London, and every city and town in the world, the human race wakes up to the most surprising invasion yet: the trees have moved back in. Everywhere, in every land, a forest has grown overnight and taken back the Earth.
Dark Water / Death in Heaven
"You betrayed me. You betrayed my trust, our friendship, and everything I've ever stood for. You let me down."
In the mysterious world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn. Old friends and old enemies manoeuvre around The Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming over him.[/sp]
Sounds so bloody good. Very excited.
I'm looking forward to this series so goddamn much.
From that synopsis Mummy on the Orient Express went from being my least anticipated episode to my most anticipated episode.
Can't wait to take the Capaldick.
I think the only one I'm not looking forward to is Robots of Sherwood. The others I'm excited as heck for.
If someone relatively famous does it first and challenges them maybe.
i shall direct you to a tweet i made about it yesterday

[sp]"Old friends and old enemies manoeuvre around The Doctor"
Looks like we're going to be getting another typical Moffat ending. All past villains thrown in for no good reason and who don't do much, and the plot revolving around The Doctor.
Why can't we just have a normal series final for once; where the bad guy is trying to conquer Earth/the universe/something, with a believable motive.[/sp]
