Any nationality can play The Doctor. It just hasn't happened yet. There's a fucking massive list of Australian actor I'd want to be in Doctor Who. Companions, Doctors and Masters. At the moment I want the next companion to not be a female. It's 2014. We should be beyond "girls won't watch it if there's not a girl".
If I can pick three things I want toned down from Doctor Who they would be the special companion, Clara is the Impossible Girl, Rose is Badwolf, Amy is the girl who waited. All stuff that involves the Doctor, why can't we just have another Average sidekick like Martha and Donna? And all the previous companions from 1963-1996, the second thing would be same old enemies, we keep seeing the same old enemies every season, Angels, Cybermen, Daleks and more. I know they are the major enemies of the Doctor, mainly the Cybermen and Daleks, but we keep seeing them each season, even during the finale and it is getting old. I want to see new enemies that plan to stick around for a while, or bring back some one timers like the Slitheen or the Gas Mask kids, and the third would be the location. We haven't been the any other planet in ages, or atleast one that doesn't look like a direct copy of Earth, I want to see Mars, see it back before whatever happened to it, see some sci-fi planets. In fact one I would like to see would be a Planet made by an Enemy, like a full blown planet, and not just another copy of earth, of course that would cost a lot, actually no it wouldn't, 1963-1998 Doctor Who managed to go to other planets on a small budget. Even if they were on earth it had a twist, my favorite one is Planet of Giants from the second season of Doctor Who. Kept it on earth, had a cool twist and had to actually try and get help.

I leave for a land of cider and camping now, enjoy the first episode, I'm jealous of you all.
I haven't seen a single episode of classic who. Are there any companions that see the Doctor as an actual father figure?
I leave for a land of cider and camping now, enjoy the first episode, I'm jealous of you all.
Enjoy Arctic Monkeys. I'm jealous. I actually want to kill you and wear your skin.
I haven't seen a single episode of classic who. Pertwee also had that relationship at times. After Tom it was Friend/Teacher all the way. [editline]20th August 2014[/editline] I want to start a Doctor Who podcast. Hmmmm *gets thinking on it*

Typical that I was over in Vancouver while they were in New York. It's just a few hours drive from Montreal :(

It's funny that people are surprised by the 'Written by X and Steven Moffat'. I don't think everyone realizes that it's always been this way, except this time Moffat is just taking credit for it (and rightfully so). Same thing with RTD (if not on a larger scale) - some of the best scripts are only as good as they are because of the rewrites. *cough*[sp]the doctor's wife[/sp]*cough*
What happened with the Doctor's Wife?
What happened with the Doctor's Wife?
Presumably Gaiman submitted a script which was extensively re-written by Moffat to make it into the gem it is.

Where RTD and Moffat have never mentioned it in the past. Doctors Wife stinks of Gaimen's style. Was it really that heavily rewritten?
Return? It never left.
Well... it's been a long time since the doctor last used it. Unless I forgot an episode
Last episode I can think of is Hide. But there may be a more recent one.
I do enjoy the psychic paper. This is a pretty big jump, but most of the times (from memory, heavily biased) that he's used it it's always been the Doctor infiltrating somewhere and having to use his smarts. Always a good time.
Remember those Radio Times plot outlines? Have even longer ones:
[sp]8x01 Deep Breath Writtten by Steven Moffat Directed by Ben Wheatley "Who frowned me this face?" In late 1890-s London, swashbuckling detectives Vastra, Jenny and Strax are summoned to the banks of the Thames for a big surprise, and the an even bigger one. A new Doctor is in town, with mayhem in his wake. As Clara struggles to recognise the man she thought she knew so well, killers stalk the capital. A slaughterhouse restaurant and a buried spaceship lead the Doctor into a confrontation with a long-forgotten foe… but how far is this new man ready to go to protect his friends? 8x02 Into the Dalek Written by Phil Ford and Steven Moffat Directed by Ben Wheatley Introducing Samuel Anderson as Danny Pink "Imagine the worst thing in the universe, and then don't bother because you're looking at it right now. This is evil refined as engineering." What’s the most dangerous place in the universe? Where is the last place the Doctor should ever stand? He’s faced with his deadliest mission yet - a journey into the heart of darkness, one even he is scared to make. In the dying days of a bitter war, a beleaguered human army has one last hope: a Dalek so damaged it has become good. But can it be trusted? To find out, a miniaturised team, led by The Doctor and Clara, embark on a fantastic voyage into the Dalek itself… 8x03 Robot of Sherwood Written by Mark Gatiss Directed by Paul Murphy Guest Stars Tom Riley (Robin), Ben Miller (Sheriff) "There's no such thing as Robin Hood!" They meet at last! This island’s greatest hero and defender of the innocent comes face to face with Robin Hood! The only trouble is, according to the Doctor, Robin Hood can’t be real. In a sun-dappled Sherwood Forest, The Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars. But with all of Nottingham at stake (and possibly Derby), there's no time for the two adventurers to get into a fight about who is real and who isn't - which is probably why they do very little else! 8x04 Listen Written by Steven Moffat Directed by Douglas Mackinnon "What's that in the mirror, and the corner of your eye? What's the footstep following, but never passing by?" What happens when the Doctor is alone - pacing the TARDIS by candlelight, poking the shadows with a stick, listening for a footfall among all those endless, empty rooms. What scares the grand old man of space and time? What horrors lurk under his bed? Ghosts of the past and future crowd into the lives of The Doctor and Clara: a terrified caretaker in a children's home, the last man standing in the universe, and a little boy who doesn't want to join the army... 8x05 Time Heist Written by Stephen Thompson and Steven Moffat Directed by Douglas Mackinnon Guest star Keeley Hawes "Welcome to the bank of Karabraxos." The Bank of Karabraxos is the deadliest bank in the cosmos - only a fool or genius would attempt to rob it. Fortunately for The Doctor, he's both. With the help of a beautiful shape-shifter and cyber-augmented gamer, the Doctor and Clara fight their way past the most dangerous security system ever devised. But nothing even The Doctor has encountered can prepare them for the Teller: a creature of terrifying power that can detect guilt. 8x06 The Caretaker Written by Gareth Roberts and Steven Moffat Directed by Paul Murphy "Human beings have incredibly short life-spans. Frankly, you should all be in a permanent state of panic. Tick tock, tick tock!" Clara has it all under control: her life at school, her life in space; her new boyfriend and her mad old Time Lord. Everything is humming along just fine, so long as everybody never actually meets. And then, one morning, just before assembly, Coal Hill welcomes a new relief caretaker with a Scottish accent. With Clara’s world about to explode around her, terrifying events near the school make it clear that the rest of the world is about to do the same. The Scovox Blitzer is ready to destroy all humanity - and worse, any second now, Danny Pink and the Doctor are going to meet... 8x07 Kill the Moon Written by Peter Harness Directed by Paul Wilmshurst Guest stars Hermione Norris, Tony Osoba "The little planetoid that's been tagging along beside you for a hundred million years, which gives you light at night and seas to sail, is in the process of falling to bits." In the near future, The Doctor and Clara arrive on a decrepit shuttle making a suicide mission to the Moon. Crashing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of eviscerated corpses, spider-like creatures scuttling about in the dark, and a terrible dilemma. When Clara turns to the Doctor for help, she gets the shock of her life. Is the man she’s trusted so long really a hero after all? Is he even her friend? 8x08 Mummy on the Orient Express Written by Jamie Mathieson Directed by Paul Wilmshurst Guest stars Frank Skinner, Foxes, David Bamber "Start the clock!" Aboard the most beautiful train in history, speeding among the stars of the future, a legend is stalking the passengers. Once you see the Mummy, you have 66 seconds to live. No exceptions, no reprieve. As the Doctor races against the clock to defeat this mythical foe, Clara sees him at his most deadliest and most ruthless - and finally she realises she's made the right decision. Because this is their last adventure: it's time to say goodbye to the Time Lord. 8x09 Flatline Written by Jamie Mathieson Directed by Douglas Mackinnon "Look, your house isn't going anywhere. And neither is mine until I figure this out." Separated from The Doctor, Clara discovers a new menace from another dimension. But how do you hide when even the walls are no protection? With people to save and no madman in a box to help, Clara goes against an enemy that exists beyond normal human perception. 8x10 In the Forest of the Night Written by Frank Cottrell Boyce Directed by Sheree Folkson "D'you like the forest being in Trafalgar Square? I think it's lovely." One morning in London, and every city and town in the world, the human race wakes up to the most surprising invasion yet: the trees have moved back in. Everywhere, in every land, a forest has grown overnight and taken back the Earth - an impossible stranglehold of vegetation. The Doctor soon realises that the final days of humanity have arrived… 8x11/12 Dark Water / Death in Heaven Written by Steven Moffat Directed by Rachel Talalay Guest stars Michelle Gomez, Chris Addison, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Jemma Redgrave, Ingrid Oliver "You betrayed me. Old friends and old enemies manoeuvre around The Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming before him. Death is not an end, promises the sinister organisation known only as 3W - but, as the Doctor and Clara discover, you might wish it was.[/sp]

Doctors Wife stinks of Gaimen's style. Was it really that heavily rewritten?
yes why do you think nightmare in silver was nowhere near as good
I'm getting more and more giddy for series 8 now, the short plot summaries sounds like it's going to grandly top series 5 which is my favorite series in New Who
yes why do you think nightmare in silver was nowhere near as good
Didn't Gaimen's PA or somebody close to him post on GB explaining that his story was cannibalised when he lost the script and had to do a last minute re-write to take in changes Moffat had issued. Including changing the companion from a victorian who had two children as her charges to a modenr day nanny. And the script was slower paced and eery. The Cybemen didn't even stomp. Then another insider said that the production team was furious with the episode as the director had totally fucked it up as he didn't really understand Doctor Who too well. Hence it being so CBBC and cheap looking. It's obviously potential bull if you have insider info I'd be willing to sway that way. Otherwise I also don't think "Nightmare was rubbish- therefore Gaimea can't write so Moffat must've done it" is reasonable. He's a really good writer. One of the best authors this country ever produced. I don't think Moffat would need to rewrite him. Specially as it's so him.
yes why do you think nightmare in silver was nowhere near as good
Because his ideas for silent Cybernen and the like were nicked for marching sounds, the "Gotta Go Fast!" scene, and "UPGRADE IN PROGRESS" cries before doing the Borg's thing. Or what Dan said.
I don't know much about that, all I know is that the script for the Doctor's Wife should have had a 'and Steven Moffat' on the end of the writing credit. (as should quite a few scripts)
