I have hated all the Doctor Who intro's until this one.
There was nothing wrong with the original delia derbyshire doctor who theme and yet they keep going and changing it every few years
that said, no particular piece of music stood out for me i don't think we have another doctor theme yet
Soon as I saw those robots with the body parts and spaceship, I immediately thought of "The Girl in the Fireplace" and assumed it was the same beings. Guess I was right haha
I liked the variations of the impossible girl song
I have a weird feeling the lady at the end was River Song. If the Doctor ended up getting new regenerations, theoretically why couldn't she? Just seemed a similar persona. I thought the ending location was set in "the library" though
Really didn't think much of this episode, first half felt too long with unfunny jokes (and that stupid cartoon noise) and dialogue that added nothing. It definitely picked up in the second half but it definitely did not need to be 80 minutes long
I thought it was great. I'm now getting really, really angry on Twitter because half of the people are saying "it was boring and I didn't understand it!!" and the other half are crying for David Tennant to come back.
[sp]Too bad Ser Dontos of the House Hollard died again[/sp]
I thought the ending location was set in "the library" though
I thought you would find the [sp]Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere in the Nethersphere[/sp] - whatever it may be :v:
I thought it started of pretty bad. Was all over the place plot wise and it was rife with "we're married, in case you did not catch it the first 5 times". Saving grace is i like Capaldi and there was moments where he got to shine. And the matt smith throwback worked really well. Also not enough Strax

All suggestions though, or I'm overthinking it :v: [editline]23rd August 2014[/editline]
There is no way it's River Song, River gave up her remaining regenerations to help save the doctor in Let's Kill Hitler
And the Doctor used all his before getting more. Timey wimey stuff, but I'll be wrong anyway. It wouldn't shock me if it was the master though, although I'd like to see John Simm again before he's changed.
O captain my captain D":
Pretty awesome start to the new series, well put together with a few surprises put in. Interesting to see that [sp]Jenny is married to Vasta now, (Waiting for the Daily Mail to blow a blood vessel) and was under the impression she was topless in one scene for a moment (Still good fan service mind). 11th Doctor cameo was pretty well executed and unexpected.[/sp]
That strange lady... Well we've certainly got a new mystery thread this season. Is she planning to collect the Doctor's fallen enemies or something?
They've went with this intro then t
We've known that for like a month now :v:
[sp]Those people down there, they're never small to me! Don't make assumptions about how far I will go to protect them, because I've already come a very long way! And unlike you I don't expect to reach the promised land![/sp] Best line(s).
Things what I liked: - Capaldi - 12 and Clara dialogue - The enemy - Strax - That cameo - The second half - Send the paper up Things what I didn't like: - The first half - "That's why we're married", "We're married by the way", "Hello we're married", "Look at us flirt" - "Don't worry I can keep more air in my lungs- KISS ME". I've seen less contrived lesbian kissing in porn. Clara didn't need to do it to survive. We didn't need a dramatic close up. We didn't need the sequence at all. Why not just have them kiss naturally without it being a giant plot mechanic that needs all the attention drawn to it. It was tacky and weird. - The sound effects were more looney than Looney Tunes. When The Doctor got put to sleep at the start? Unnecessary. It sounded like Granny just wacked him over the head with a frying pan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first half had all the hangovers from the Eleventh era that I didn't like. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this episode much. I never enjoy regeneration episodes much until we've had time with the new Doctor and can effectively reflect. Then I enjoy them. It's hard to say "LOOK HOW OUT OF CHARACTER AND WEIRD THE DOCTOR IS ACTING" when we've never seen him before. But I enjoyed it more than expected. I'm looking forward to next week. I've actually been more excited for next week than this week. I'm more looking forward to later in the series when the tone supposedly changes. Episode 6 onwards is supposed to be markedly different in style and approach. So I'm awaiting that most. Capaldi though- he's excellent.
this is the blurriest series yet
Strax is always such a joy. You have that scene with Jenny and Vastra flourishing in like Cirque du Soleil, and then Strax just drops in with as much grace as a pig with a malfunctioning jetpack. And let's not forget that thing with the memory worm over a season ago, where he's looking for it under the carriage and all of a sudden "ARGH HELP I've been struck down by a carriage!" And I wouldn't have it any other way.
Not a fan of the OMGZAMAZEBALLZ narrator - but eh, good to see some behind the scenes stuff, and Peter playing scenes differently than we saw them on screen. What do we think 12's theme could come from out of DB? Some combination of the chalk / doors are boring / escape to the rooftop / horse pieces?
oh shit is this the new confidential?
I loved that episode, and I feel like it got better as it progressed. Can't be certain whether or not I liked it more than the Eleventh Hour, but it's close.

I really like Capaldi as the doctor and feel he has a lot of potential but I think the writing is still iffy. I'm just not a fan of Moffat's writing.
While I really adored 11, I didn't like the style of 11's episodes after Series 5. Obviously as a trasition this episode was very 11 up until when 12 officially becomes 12. Which is round about the time the escape pod launches. It's hard to tell as we don't know him yet. It could be when he rips the face off. I don't think Moffat's a bad writer at all. I just think he's been approaching it in a way I don't appreciate. I think a new tone and approach as the series develops would be perfect and give Moffat a chance to remind everybody he's a great writer.

Think about it: when the script was leaked all it got was GLOWING reviews. Everyone loved it. Now that the episode is actually out people don't like it as much so it surely can't the writing that's at fault THAT much.
The fate of 11's clothes. Left behind. Forever.
