Earth Conquest was a lovely showcase of Doctor Who around the world - and a spotlight for some of the most passionate and creative fans that a TV show could ask for. Also a nice reminder that homegrown ratings are only a fraction of the Doctor Who story. ...and boy, does Latin America love Moffat :v:
"I've been very lucky because in the past I've received awards for my acting," he said, upon winning. "This is the first I've received for my personality, which I assume means they've never met me. The reason I've got this award is because I got the chance to play the roll of a lifetime twice. Malcom Tucker in The Thick Of It. And I also got to play Doctor Who. The real people who know the personality of the year are my family - my mother and my sister and my wife who have put with with my personality and endured it to the point that I can get this."
I like how he just turns up as The Doctor: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BwjmVaGIgAAFiYB.jpg [editline]2nd September 2014[/editline] Oh my.. Just read on GB that Ian Cheserton was in the 50th. He pulled out in the end due to ill health. Hence his name on the sign outside Coal Hill.

So from the universe reboot and onwards do people now remember the earth being stolen?
Cultbox Spoiler-Free Review
This is ‘Robot of Sherwood’, an episode that is unmistakeably by Mark Gatiss in its execution and which is as pun-packed as its title might suggest. Gosh, it is fun. Incredibly fun.
Link Den of Geek Spoiler-Free Review
Robot Of Sherwood may not be one that wins too many fan polls, but it is very funny, and sits well as episode three in a 12-part run. Especially given the dark and menacing teaser for episode four, Listen, that sits at the end of it...
Link Doctor Who Online Spoiler-Free Review
Where the episode really sings, though, is in the direction. Paul Murphy makes his Doctor Who debut here, and he certainly arrives in style, keeping you hooked throughout. Right from the start, and the way he chooses to shoot the TARDIS set, you know you’re in for something rather special, and that doesn’t stop as the story goes on.
Link
What, so it's shit?
unmistakeably by Mark Gatiss in its execution
ahh fuck
That means it will have dialogue that isn't genuinely funny but everybody acts like it should be so you end up thinking it is without actually ever laughing at it.
This time it's different. This time... it's Peter Capaldi. Pretty direction. Good to see more of what we saw filming long ago.

Why is The Doctor fighting with a spoon? What makes that funny? It's a fun image, Robin Hood locking swords with The Doctor who is wielding a spoon- but... It's like somebody wrote it down and said "THIS is funny" and everybody laughed at the idea of the Doctor using a spoon and nobody dared ask "I don't get it? What's the punchline? Why's he using a spoon?" The middle-finger thing though... that's funny.
We don't know why he has the spoon yet, Dan. There might be a reason. He might just have it earlier in the episode and it happens to be the only instrument he has to battle. Perhaps the read-through didn't have the cast and crew scratching their heads in confusion. We will revisit when it airs - or you can watch the screener. :v: Dislike the extreme pessimism for this one on the Internet - thankfully they are balanced out by extremely positive reviews of hilarious Capaldi. If Eccleston can pull off a banana, Capaldi can pull off a spoon. Into the Dalek Ratings update: Live + VOSDAL: 5.195m + Day 1: 6.474m + Day 2: 6.806m + Day 3: 7.000m
Richard Young wins the Most Unflattering Pictures award.

Meanwhile.. But it wouldn't defend a blow from a sword. It's a spoon and Robin is an armed savage criminal.
I think the fact that he needed a glove to "wield" the spoon means that it's not an ordinary spoon. No matter how silly Doctor Who is capable of getting, I don't think the Doctor would just casually carry an ordinary spoon incase he is assaulted by a Robot Hood.
It could be like the spoon the tenth doctor had in the infinite quest which rusted away metal
i can tell that spoon scene is going to make me cringe it's stuff like that that bugs me about Who but it's part of the show so I guess it has to be in there
Ultimately kids are going to love it. And there hasn't been much for them to fully love in the last couple of episodes. It's a bit of fun. So we can enjoy it.
Don’t over-analyse this one.
Too late :v:
Scottish Doctors and spoons. Scottish Spoon Agenda is obvious. Moffat is a hack.
John Culshaw just did his first Capaldi impression on Radio 4's Dead Ringers Not madly impressive, but whoever was doing Clara was pretty good imo
"Listen" to air at 7:30pm - I can't handle this regularity.
"Listen" to air at 7:30pm - I can't handle this regularity.
It's like they've taken the last three years of criticism on board. What the fuck are they doing!? [editline]3rd September 2014[/editline]
John Culshaw just did his first Capaldi impression on Radio 4's Dead Ringers Not madly impressive, but whoever was doing Clara was pretty good imo
Was there any Tom Baker this series? He's my favourite impression. I didn't even know it had started. How embarrassing if I had gone up to Culshaw the other day and gushed about the "upcoming series"
Culshaw's Tom Baker says "Dead Ringers" at the beginning of the show every week. I don't always listen so I don't know if he's been in it much or at all this series. [Editline]Edited:[/Editline] I've been told it was actually someone called Lewis MacLeod who impersonated Peter Capaldi, not John Culshaw.
Just incase any overseas or younger thread users aren't aware: Robin Hood is not real. He's a fictional character of folklore. An outlaw called Robert did exist, but that's only because Robert was a popular 12th Century name and there were lots of outlaws. 'Robinhood' was a term occasionally used to document highwaymen. There's currently a GB user insisting it's debatable. It's not. It was 100% fiction. It's debatable in the same way Doctor Who is debatable because a scientist called John Smith was around in the 70s.
dont listen to dan i am robin hood
people believe robin hood is real? o_o
people believe robin hood is real? o_o
If people can think the Titanic was only the Cameron movie, Robin Hood being seen as real is not far out of the imagination.
people believe robin hood is real? o_o
The same people who think Game of Thrones is based on real events.
Too late :v:
I am sort of curious that as I wonder what horrors await me as I get into more classic Doctor Who post Davison, only seen Rememberence Of The Daleks so far which is great but even then the presentation is incredibly dated I find even for my high tolerance levels. This video is intensifying the gritting of my teeth that started with the regeneration scene at the end of The Caves Of Androzani.
