I would chalk it down to the character being a misbehaving big mouth. Every school had them. I think she's supposed to be unlikeable for now. She's well performed. Reminds me of a girl I went to school with down the inflictions in the speech.
I think she'l continue to be a pain during The Caretaker and then by the end of Kill The Moon she'll be quite likeable.
