I think she'll become that thing that freaked The Doctor out in 'Listen', maybe not as a direct result of the events of the next episode but possibly rom whatever happens at the end of the 'Promised Land' story arc.

I wouldn't really call it a twist, the episode title kind of gives that much away.

Kill the Moon is the episode filmed in Lanzartote that Moffat said would be a return to the scene of an old adventure. The Moon scenes are what they filmed abroad.
The Doctor visited the moon most notably in Series 3 in Smith and Jones. That's your return to an old adventure! It's also worth noting Sarah Jane Adventures claimed Liz Shaw was working in a UNIT base on the moon.
Somebody told me that Moffat said a yet unnanounced monster is set to return this series. I've not seen the quote so I don't know if they were misinformed. But could it be the [sp]Eight Legs who could have a new Great One feeding and growing on crystals in the centre of the moon[/sp]?
[editline]29th September 2014[/editline]
The writer of this episode is actually concerned about how people will recieve the episode.
He says it's totally different in tone and style to anything before it and is the new template going forward. This is the big change episode we've been promised. This is where the Golden Age makes or breaks.

I thought that the scene of an old adventure just refers to the filming in Lanzarote. Hence the 'Return to Sarn' gag. :v:
Remember that Minecraft 360 pack coming in September? I would've assumed (as there's going to be at least 2 packs) that pack 1 would launch at the halfway point of the series which was last night. But it didn't. There's not even a release date announced. It's not even been announced it's delayed. So I guess it's either 100% tomorrow or somebody has fucked up.

then you're, excuse me, a fucking idiot
12 isn't a hero. He isn't a nice guy. He doesn't care about individuals. He has a job to do (usually saving the world) and he does it.
He isn't your friend. He's 100% renegade Time Lord.
12 is perfect to me. 10 and 11 were too human.
I can hear people saying "but 11 was so alien! he loved bow ties and weird shit like that!!" yeah, and he was still too human. 12's professional detachment is exactly what I imagine the Doctor to actually be like, especially after spending hundreds of years methodically taking out aliens in a small town.
no, you're not an idiot if you don't like the 12th doctor - you just have different taste
there's two types of doctor who fans (obviously there's more than two but I'm gonna generalize) - the ones who watch for overall story and the ones who watch for the doctor
the people who watch for the story (aka most people) are fine with the new doctor because they're in it for the overall story, not just that one character
the people who watch for the doctor aren't liking 12 because he's actually developing as a character, rather than being the same thing over and over again. if you look at nerd³'s twitter he also disliked the waters of mars but for the majority of people that episode was one of the best because the doctor actually changed. these sort of people want the doctor to always remain good and that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that - you're just a bit boring. : /
[editline]29th September 2014[/editline]
also the people saying that the doctor hates humans so much and isn't a good man anymore are very clearly only listening to the words rather than watching the actions.. he just saved the entire planet at the near cost of his own life, just because his words are sharper doesn't mean they actually hold that much weight.
actions speak louder than words.

1. He hasn't been cruel or cowardly
2. He didn't kill. I believe the robot jumped or fell.
3. Aren't 11 and 10 the only two to run around the TARDIS like idiots? Excluding 7 in the TV Movie when he was desperate. Flying the TARDIS pre 9 usually involved pressing a button and then standing around looking at a screen. Or statically pulling a lever.
4. Humans ARE idiots. Look at us. We're constantly at war with eachother. We've got much smaller brains compared to other species. We're just lucky. 9 was happy to remind us we just stupid apes. His time on Trenzalore won't effect that. 12 still LOVES the Human Race. "They're never small to me" speech from Deep Breath made that painfully clear. The whole point in Deep Breath was showing you that 11 and 10 were only so friendly and amiable because they want to be liked from all the Timewar guilt. That was the point of Day. That guilt is gone now. The Doctor isn't a hero- he's a scientist. It's stripped back now to Pertwee standing in a lab asking Jo to fetch him things. He doesn't need to pretend to be a super hero any more. He doesn't need human approval to keep us safe.
5. 12 is so much fucking more. Jesus christ. I don't get this "he's only angry". He's displayed more curiosity and intellect than in years. For the last 4 years, as much as I loved 11, he wasn't a character. He was a series of emotions that were called upon when the script needed it. A caricature. Now The Doctor will be happy. Now he will be silly. Now he will be mad. Now he will be silly. He just went through motions. 12 is a tangible existing person who is only 6 episodes in. Who knows how he will develop in 2 years. Sadly Smith started with this amazing Old-man in a young body routine. Then between 5 and 6 it just went. 11 changed to silly hand gestures and occasional frowning. He didn't develop. His whole character changed between series with no explanation. It was wasn't Matt's fault. The writing had 0 development. He was happy. Then sad. Then over it. Then happy. Compare that to 10 who changed forever after Rose went and then slowly healed until he became somebody more cynical and worldly than he was before. Or 9's perfect development from difficult loner to warm best mate. 12 is not just grumpy. He's complicated and mysterious and fresh. He's not cruel or nasty, he generally doesn't realise he's said something mean.

I didn't say that, I said he wasn't nice. He isn't nice. He's still a good man and would rather die than sacrifice the human race as a whole. But if he was in a situation where he had to choose between saving one human while killing himself in the process or letting the human die but he could save a whole lot more, he'd choose the latter in a heartbeat. I think 9/10/11 would have a problem with that.
And I think that's exactly what the Kill The Moon dilemma is gonna be. He's gonna have to kill something/someone to destroy the moon, thus savingEarth, and he's gonna do it in a heartbeat, alienating Clara.

[QUOTE=Freeze;46107561]wasn't referring to you at all lol[/QUOTE]
oh ok fp but i made my position clearer for anyone who didn't quite get what i was trying to say :~)
+1 to all
These people down here... they're never small to him.
He didn't have to save Journey Blue and get involved in the Galactic Resistance's war - he just did.
He didn't have to investigate the Robin Wood / Sherwood Forest mystery - he just chose to.
He didn't have to seek out the answer to a recurring nightmare across all of Human history - he just wanted to.
He didn't have to help the Teller reunite with it's other - but he set up an elaborate plan to do so.
There are those who say 12 doesn't have a desire to explore the Universe's mysteries. Those people are wrong.
I think that in the finale something will happen that makes it obvious that this Doctor IS a good man. Maybe he'll have the opportunity to kill or something and then be like 'I AM a good man' then walk away. B)
"Am I a good man?"
...
"I am no man!"

Definitely leading to something like that IMO. When Capaldi was asked what his arc / story was...

The Doctor disliking the military is not a new thing. Watch Season 7 from 1970 to see how much he resents the Brigadier et al.
Wait and see [why it has been turned up for this Doctor][/QUOTE]

it's pretty safe to just ignore nerdcube's opinions most of the time. he urged people to avoid buying ground zeroes / the phantom pain because he thought the serious themes and storyline didn't belong in the metal gear series. that and his comments on the new doctor show he's completely stupid when it comes to franchises changing, maturing, or just doing anything other than staying exactly the same forever and ever.
also, I've never really seen any of the original series, but from the descriptions the Time Lords have always sounded pretty cold and distant, but mostly having very strong opinions on what is right and wrong, what with the whole "we absolutely must not intervene" schtick they had going on. what we as an audience mustn't forget is that the doctor, while very different from the Time Lords, is still, at his core, a Time Lord with slightly different morals. and since Gallifrey is still around, it's probably a good time for a reminder of that. the whole "hi I'm the Doctor, I'm a Time Lord" line that pops up every now and then now actually means something other than "I'm a dude who travels in Time" that it seemed to mean before 12.
