Episode was alright but the best part by far was that fucking spotted shirt.
I felt really disappointed by that. Like, my expectations were super high and it was all just kinda meh

"IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, YOU SILLY HUMANS!!!!"

that explains the moon breaking in the time machine remake
There's nothing quite so deflating than reading Internet comments after an episode of Doctor Who :v:
It was my favorite of the series.
Agreed... and that's all I got.
The girl playing Courtney seems to have no emotion, she had a straight face the entire time, even during the time she was meant to be shit scared and wanted to go home.
I've been pretty uninvested in following doctor who since that time 11 got shot. I come here and apparently that was hyped?
I mean, that was pretty shithouse.
So did clara get killed off then like everybody said, or..?

Yeah, some reviewers gave it a 9.5/10, if anything, it was struggling to push a 6, at the very most.
Capaldi was pretty much the only reason it even deserves that high a rating.
One of the (many) things that annoyed me about this episode was how underwhelmed the girl character was, I mean really if I was on the moon 40-odd years in the future I would make a pretty big deal about it
And oh god the tumblr jokes
it's the twitter of series 8
So did clara get killed off then like everybody said, or..?
[sp]Even though it's not apparent in the trailer (deliberately) I believe she's very prominent in the next episode, so that ending fight was pretty much for nothing. By episode nine you definitely won't even know the fight happened.[/sp]
Watching the episode right now
I'm liking it so far. Loved [sp]the Doctor talking about his regenerations. He's unsure if he has infinite now? That could be useful in the future![/sp] :v:
[editline]4th October 2014[/editline]
Wait, how is there [sp]spiderweb in that base? Did they bring spiders to the moon that could survive on 0 oxygen...[/sp]?
[editline]4th October 2014[/editline]
Oh nevermind lol
load of gash
only decent bit in the ep was "I'll hit you in the face so hard you'll regenerate"
That'd certainly be a ballsy way to get rid of Capaldi
I think Ellis George is very good as Courtney, and did the Doctor say she was somehow going to be president of the US? Because I'm sure we've already been told the president will be someone we've seen before. Though presumably played by another actress since Ellis George is still in her teens.
Did you guys catch the Blink reference tho
Did you guys catch the Blink reference tho
yes
sry new to the tv area of facepunch
Theres so many things i disliked about this episode i dont know where to start,[sp] i liked the clara telling the doctor off, and the fact the space dragon thing in the moon would make an awesome album cover, other than that i felt kind of meh about the whole thing.[/sp]
Me and my friend both looked at each other and instantly guessed [sp] which astronauts died and what order which is pretty sad that it was so predictable.[/sp]
man this episode had probably the most robotic and awkward dialogue of the past couple years
also that child actor was abysmally monotone
a fucking [sp]SPACE DRAGON HATCHED OUT OF THE GOD DAMN MOON and the only thing you can say is a flat "Oh my gosh"[/sp]
you don't need to use spoiler tags once the episode has aired guys :)
Did you guys catch the Blink reference tho
I didn't:c

Also I thought the episode was great, definetely not the best, but definetely not bad either. I liked it. Adequately dark and pretty good story.
Child actress was terrible though. That's the biggest downside.

I assumed the writer was [sp] american, had to google it after the episode,he wasnt but this was his first episode seemed odd that a British girl would suggest the president of america making the decision, you'd think they would say parliament or somthing.[/sp]
In the preview where they say sacrificing an innocent life [sp]i was hoping it was the child actor, she was just written to be annoying 24/7[/sp]
Dont watch this vid if you havent seen the episode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-_MrkXrZow [sp] The entire time i was watching i couldnt stop thinking of the mexican aliens being like this[/sp]
I don't get the Courtney hate. Maybe it's because I'm an older adult but I thought her believable. Real people don't react with drama and face pulling, and she's supposed to be someone who puts on a face of being cool. Yes she's childish and sometimes bored scared and/or annoying but that reminded me of how I used to see my younger sister when we were children. Someone who needs protecting. Someone who should never have travelled with the Doctor, someone who is further evidence that the Doctor gets it wrong sometimes where his human companions are concerned
nah she's a really bad actor imo, as is Samuel Anderson.
"wow thats beautiful" in the most monotone voice imaginable
that episode was definitely my favourite of the series, but it wasn't 10/10 perfect as everyone hailed it to be. The Doctor definitely didn't go darker than we've seen him go before, it wasn't even that dark. All he did was let humanity make it's own choice. He wasn't even gonna let the three people he left there die, the TARDIS arrived straight back at the time limit. Capaldi was 10/10 again, though, easily my favourite Doctor. The stabilisers remark felt so Doctorish but so cold and empty at the same time, fucking great Doctor.
And holy shit that shirt is definitely the best he's worn so far, I didn't expect it because I hadn't seen it in any set pictures but it was so fucking stylish, I love 12's costumes.
Humanity didn't even make it's own choice, two humans made the choice against all of humanity (even if it was the right thing to do - which it arguably wasn't).
humanity didn't even make it's own choice, two humans made the choice for all of humanity (even if it was the right thing to do - which it arguably wasn't)
no but The Doctor let humans decide, which was the whole point of him jumping ahead 45 minutes. It wasn't his choice to make.
I seriously cannot understand why Clara is so annoyed with him, he did nothing wrong. I wouldn't expect to have a say on anything if it was the same situation but with Gallifrey. It'd be up to any Timelords with me.
I'd personally argue Clara and Courtney did the wrong thing in the situation they were in. Sure, overall it ended up good but that's was just luck, wasn't it? They were gonna let billions die for one single creature. They're crazy.
I think Samuel Anderson is one of the strongest actors of the whole series
i'm slightly worried clara may be a psychopath considering she decided a moon sized alien parasite was worth risking the entire human race
