To be fair, the TARDIS never used to fling people about everywhere unless something was going wrong. I'm guessing that ever since the Doctor went from not knowing 'how to fly this thing' to being the confident, cold person he is today, he decided that making it harder for himself was a little too inefficient. Although he still doesn't seem to mind keeping the brakes on..

nah the TARDIS used to fling people around all the time before s6, the most notable example i can think of now is in Smith and Jones.
i thought the explanation is that a tardis was meant to be piloted by multiple people and it flung people about because only one person was piloting it

Personally, I think the thing with the brakes should not be consider as an actual fact in Doctor Who as in the classic even other TARDISes made the same noise while landing/taking off (The Masters for example). Unless every Time Lords leave the brakes on because they love the sound too
So far, Series 8 is really great, but there are two I wished that would be different.
Firstly, I wanted 12 to have his own screwdriver, instead using the same one as 11. Secondly, I really wanted 12 to have the "new" 2013-now Tardis interior in Deep Breath, and that 11 used his interior the entirety of series 7 instead of switching the last couple of episodes to the new one (Ofcourse they couldn't had know Smith was leaving during filming so it's understandable.), as I find the previous interior so much more fitting to the energetic personallity 11 has and 12 would have a new fresh coat to paint on. It would also give 12 a bit more of that; An entire new era has began, new Tardis, new Screwdriver, new Doctor, etc. Now it all feels a bit reused, and I really think Capaldi's Doctor deserves better than that.
Still, I'm loving Series 8 and I don't think the previous things I said are that big of a problem, but I would have been a nice thing to have. So far I've been enjoying all episodes and I really can't wait what the finale has in store for us, and series 9, and ofcourse tonight's episode.
11's TARDIS change makes perfect sense. He changes when Amy leaves. He goes from the whimsical madman in a box (which his first interior fits) to this cold, unfeeling isolationist (in the Snowmen, at least) which his second interior fits. He grows up a bit.

Surprised you're complaining about the sonic screwdriver when no one complained about the tenth doctor having the same one as nine
I think the screwdriver is a nice continuity nod.
9 and 10's screwdriver aren't the same.
9 and 10's are different you philistines

be careful what you say, that bottom one is from celestial toystore :tinfoil:
Reposting for anyone that didn't see it just before the episode airs:
Here are some advanced warnings about Flatline just so you don't all faint when you see such horrors. They don't relate to the story AT ALL (like seriously) but I'll spoiler tag them just incase for some reason you don't want to be mentally prepared for such monstrous technical difficulties:
[sp]At one point in the episode the Doctor's hair randomly changes length. The hair stylist(s) messed up. I know, I know - I wanted to sue them too.
Also at some points the effects don't completely hold up. This is probably the hardest episode to do effects wise so give the effects team a break. They're generally pretty damn good but there's a couple of scenes that make you go 'eh'.[/sp]

9 and 10's screwdriver aren't the same.
didn't he use 9's for series 2 and get a new one for series 3 and 4
well that would make sense, considering s3 was martha series
and his sonic blew out during the first episode of s3
remember his whole spiel about his sonic?
"i love my sonic!"
/tosses it over shoulder
So far the special effects have held up well, bravo to the effects team on such an effects heavy episode.
Woah woah woah
This episode was the anti-trope in so many ways
Aside from there being [sp] no rescue for the lost people in the walls[/sp] and the fact the shithead side character never changed, I was surprised no time was wasted on a WTF are you doing sub-plot
dat "I am the Doctor" speech, hot damn. Shame his hair distracted me from that great moment.
Next week's child actors look worse than Courtney, so there's that to look forward to :)
Have to say that 12's celebratory dance was the best thing I have ever seen on television.

Got a picture of it?
That was a great episode.
That was pretty good episode in my books, resolution was too instantaneous mind but on the whole i liked the episode, loved the monster and the effects while not fantastic, were commendable for a BBC show.
dat "I am the Doctor" speech, hot damn. Shame his hair distracted me from that great moment.
if you want a reason behind that to calm yourself like I did other than it just being a mistake - the air and life support vacuum out of the tardis made his hair go a bit flat and by the time they got back outside it had time to re-puff
yeah that episode was actually really great. Clara's "TELL ME IM GOOD" moment at the end kinda soiled it, fuck you Clara you egotistical wanker.
Capaldi is 10/10 Doctor, definitely my favourite of all time. That speech just cemented it.
Those paint monster things reminded me of the stop-motion Terminator. Really freaky man. Creeped me out the way they moved.
So, with Missy saying that she chose well with Clara, I now believe that Missy could turn out to be a future Doctor. "I might keep it" when talking about Capaldi could refer to the face, as in, she might revisit it, as (s)he did with the Fourth Doctor as the Curator.
Just crackpot theory tho :tinfoil:
"...goodness had nothing to do with it"
Well... as a companion, she's pretty much done.
I liked the kid, Rigsy, he'd make a really good companion. Hope they bring him back.

Another solid episode in a solid series. Even if the resolution was quick - it was one hell of a fun sequence. Hope FCB delivers! Until next time...

I think if they ever mention him again, it'll be that he becomes a world famous artist or something.
Fucking top class episode.
There were so many moments where I just went "oh, shit". Like the nervous system, or the "you are the monsters" speech, or [sp]when Capaldi dragged the TARDIS along with his hand[/sp], I just burst out laughing at that.
Quality.
so why could that dick see through psychic paper? i thought it'd be a big thing but it wasnt.. did i miss a quick line explaining it? Freeze?
