Doctor Who only has an earlier time because Strictly finishes five minutes earlier every time a contestant is voted off. So it will keep dropping until Strictly decides to start airing a bit more filler.
Series 8 was never put on late because of the content. It's because putting it on before Strictly would be too early, it wouldn't be a prime time slot and get no audience. So it has go on AFTER Strictly. Hence the late start. Apart from one or two exceptions in the past Doctor Who has never been on in the same part of the year as Strictly so that's why it's never been this late before. I imagine the plan will be to get Doctor Who back to Easter time soon. That might mean if we're lucky Series 9 could start only a few months after Christmas but I could be wrong. It's just a bit mental for Beeb to have its biggest shows at the same time and they'll logically want to rectify that.
This episode was a lot about dimensions.

Hm...
Flatline will be my next trailer, my favourite episode of the season so far. Got an idea for it, just whether I can pull it off :v:

Romcom?
I didn't think I wanted a moment where Capaldi "becomes" the Doctor. I wanted him to just be the Doctor from the get go - and he was!
But if anyone has any misgivings, or they needed a little speech to help them along, that speech is perfectly suited for 12. I didn't expect much of it, but I really enjoyed that episode. It was all just "right".
Another really enjoyable aspect of the last two weeks was how small the stories were. There wasn't a planet at stake. There wasn't a universe hanging on the line. The danger was purely towards the onscreen characters.
An aspect I've enjoyed over the last three weeks is the "Classic-Who style". That's a pretty vague description which I think boils down to the story focusing on a mystery. The Doctor doesn't know. The rest of the episode is spent investigating who, what and why. Then once the mystery is solved there comes an obstacle to overcome- often moral (kill the moon? Let a young woman die? Give monsters a chance?). It's given the show a new vibe. The Doctor as a Super Hero era is over. He's a detective scientist again. That's good.
Best part about missing this the last 2 weeks was watching these two episodes back to back, best two of the season so far hands down.

I approve of this.

That felt like it should have played on some sort of 'farewell Twelfth Doctor' special. :v:

This video is making me sad already, thinking about the eventual regeneration. Hopefully Capaldi has a decent run, at least 3 or 4 years, and I'm sure the next Doctor will be just as fantastic as he is.
This is TheRealRudy - sharing videos so I don't have to.
( as a note, it was just for another forum member who insisted that he hadn't seen The Doctor smile since 11 regenerated - which made me sad )
People on Gallifrey Base genuinely misheard Danny greet Clara on the phone with "What up, bitch". They are outraged.
US viewers insist matters aren't helped when the subtitle captioning also claimed he said "What up, bitch"

First thing I thought :v:
God I love that scene with the hand, then the doctor dances and it falls back :v: Best moment
I'll never forget the cheer at the premiere when 12 flicked open his coat for the first time :v: All the set pictures had been leading to that moment.

Well I didn't know what to update my main channel with - so ultimately settled on the quick EG19 version of 12. It will probably get taken down :v:

Flatline was really really well written, seriously, Jamie Mathieson (who also wrote Mummy) needs to be a more permanent fixture, because the dude is great.

I did a double take at that, what did he actually say?

wow you actually picked every moment where i thought "jesus christ Capaldi is perfect"
thank you based Grizz
So was the tardis dropped because Fenton wanted the 2-Dis?
[editline]21st October 2014[/editline]
Oh god please make Capaldi the longest running modern era doctor. I hope it isn't 2 seasons he is signed on for next year right?
They've already finished the Christmas special, so unless he regenerates in S9E01, it's bullshit. Case closed.
[editline]21st October 2014[/editline]
Also, the headline of the source they quote is a question:
Doctor Who: Could Peter Capaldi's time aboard the TARDIS as the Doctor last only one series?
A fundamental rule of journalism is that if a newspaper headline poses a question, the answer is most definitely "no".
Monday, February 24, 2014
Capaldi has said that he has been talking to Moffat about some exciting ideas for Series 9, quite recently. So I personally believe he's not going anywhere.
I especially believe it would have leaked if a regeneration had been filmed. We can actually go all the way back to November 2013 for the original report.
Capaldi, 55, will star in two series of six episodes each before waving goodbye to the Timelord
[sp]he's not leaving after one series[/sp]
Maybe people are raising the 'one series' thing again as a very cryptic hint that Ecclestone's coming back next year for a special? This is the most wishful thinking I've ever done in my life, but I would cry if he came back as the Doctor just one last time.
