So my TV was on the other day and it was on BBC since I have it set to record Doctor Who. I walked into my living room and said "hey, that's an older episode I've never seen." but it dawned on my why, it was Love and Monsters.
honestly, i didn't mind it ending was pure shit, though but everyone complaining about the kids - kids ARE annoying. i think they did an alright job writing them, and they weren't the worst actors. plus, the reason they didn't flip out when they entered the TARDIS is that they're kids. they're far more willing to accept that it's bigger on the inside. i enjoyed the fact that they just sit around touching shit. that's what kids do. but the dialogue for capaldi was fun ('trippy sunsets' 'it'd be awkward if i was wrong and the earth was destroyed), i just wish they did more investigative work. and unlike kill the moon, i didn't want to turn it off. it was fun, but not perfect. 6/10. better than a lot of TV
The opening shots of the next time trailer look so similar to the Doctor's timestream it surely can't be a coincidence. Right? [sp]Maybe the episode ends with Eccleston or McGann coming out to help.[/sp] :v:
dont fucking toy with me here freeze
So All that character development with Clara this season was for nothing even the scenes where she got really pissed off with the doctor in kill the moon?

Why (How) would they be back there though?
does it seem like a coincidence that we've had so many school children refer to clara as "miss" this episode? or does that seem like it confirms the Miss C = Missy theory?
or its because school kids refer to their teachers as that
Wow Moffat just fucked Dr. Who continuity up something fierce. Earth gets hit by solar flares at least TWO times after this (Beast Below and The Ark in Space) and no magical trees came and stopped it from happening. GG moffat [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] Like I can understand him ignoring The Ark in Space but HE FUCKING WROTE The Beast Below.
Like I can understand him ignoring The Ark in Space but HE FUCKING WROTE The Beast Below.
Did the episode establish that they were going to come back and do it again every time there's a major flare? If not, job done. * I couldn't help but notice that the sun with the flare was the same shape as Missy's Cyber-Eye logo. :v:
The last episode was the worst of the current run so far, but seeing how good the series has been, and Peter Capaldi being a complete joy to watch, I don't think that can be taken to strongly.
I also noticed with clara saying [sp]She never existed she had a cyberman pointing a weapon at her maybe lying to get out of it[/sp]
Love and Monster isn't that bad to be honest. Better than fucking Fear Her.
Actually I quite liked Fear Her, and tonight's episode.
I thought the children were a mixed bag. Ruby spoke way too much and was irritating. But I think that's a consequence of her personality. Not her portrayal. They were all pretty bad though. Apart from the black kid in the hat. He was great. His lines were delivered believably and he gave me a few laughs. Maebh was great too, she managed to carry a bit of emotion very nicely. [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] Also was [sp]the missing girl in a bush next to their house their the whole time?[/sp] They probably should've looked harder.
Also was [sp]the missing girl in a bush next to their house their the whole time?[/sp] They probably should've looked harder.
Nah she was in the ball point pen they used to write that into the script when they realised that the episode was almost completely of no consequence.
So I tried that Doctor and the Dalek CBBC game, and for some reason Capaldi says "Fantastic!" a whole bunch.
it's a siiiiiiign
There's nothing saying that something couldn't stop it happening in future
Now what would annoy me in the continuity department is if Nelson's Column is in one piece next week :v:
or its because school kids refer to their teachers as that
that is exactly, to the tee, the kind of hiding in plain sight that moffat uses. [editline]26th October 2014[/editline] i'm not saying i'm right, obvs.
[sp]I thought they were going to call UNIT.[/sp]
What an absolute stinker of an episode. That last scene had me genuinely swearing at my tv.
So, my personal ratings of Series 8 so far; Deep Breath: 9.5/10 Into the Dalek: 8/10 Robot of Sherwood: 7.5/10 Listen 10/10 Time Heist: 6.5/10 The Caretaker: 7/10 Kill The Moon: 5.5/10 Mummy on the Orient Express: 9/10 Flatline: 9/10 In the Forest of the Night: 5/10
Ooo, ooo! Can I do a list too? Deep Breath: 4/10 Into the Dalek: 6/10 Robot of Sherwood: 6/10 Listen 8/10 Time Heist: 7/10 The Caretaker: 6/10 Kill The Moon: 1/10 Mummy on the Orient Express: 9/10 Flatline: 10/10 In the Forest of the Night: 3/10 ... Woah it seems I really hated this series. I didn't, I just thought too many episodes were weak. Capaldi is the goddamn boss, though. Change some of the writers (Get Madison back!), change the companion, and next series will be a golden age.
I'll wait until the end of the series before I start to dissect which ones I really liked or not.
the kids were utter shite, the story was utter shite, capaldi was bretty gud worst of s8. Felt like an episode of SJA, Bryce shouldn't write for Doctor Who again. Praise be to based Mathieson.
SJA was good tho (That shitty bush moment at the end did feel like a dumb RTD thing though)
SJA was good for kids, I couldn't watch it even at 14 because it felt too dumb. I've only seen s1 and then the episodes with the Doctor in them.
The episode was poor, but I wouldn't ban Boyce off the back of it. RTD still did some decent work after writing the worst episode of Doctor Who (imo). I'll give every writer a second chance - and we don't know what happened from pitch to script to screen. If Nightmare in Silver had been Gaiman's first to air, we may not have thought another episode of his could be so very popular.

I've watched the episode, and kinda liked it. Then I've gone to this thread.
