Oh, and the Whisper Men were a bit rubbish.
There was really not much point to them.
but I think maybe he is [sp]it's the Doctor we have followed all these years who possibly isn't really the Doctor - he just borrowed his name?[/sp]
[sp]Everyone in his timeline in the last couple of minutes (except Clara) was him. It was basically Clara finding herself in the Doctor's soul. A shadow of every version of him was around, she was just sort of in the middle of it all. John Hurt's character and Matt Smith's character are basically the same character with different faces. And I'm pretty sure the Doctor didn't steal someone else's name - he has a name that he's kept a secret, and he has the name that he goes by that he gave himself (the Doctor).[/sp]
thanks evlbzltyr I see what you mean also it's fine to post about what happened in an episode that has aired but some people like to spoiler tag anyway as a courtesy to people who haven't had the chance to watch yet
There was really not much point to them.
They had a point, to make the Doctor go to Trenzalore, and they did it.
Also, there was one little thing that sort of ruined the immersion for me at the Strax bar scene: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/99717/ruinedIt.jpg - No spoiler (Look at the wrists)
A word from Mr. Moff about the 210 fans who received their DVDs early http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2013/may/18/steven-moffat-fans-saved-doctor-who-finale
Well that episode certainly was pretty neat; it explained how [sp]Clara was the Impossible Girl, and introduced the missing link[/sp]. Though I'm not exactly a fan of the Infinity Leaf, it probably worked as symbolism, even though we didn't see her actually float off with it. Also, the Whispermen did seem a little throwaway; even though they served their purpose in getting the Doctor to go to Trenzalore, they weren't exactly the kind of thing you'd use multiple times. Also, even though [sp]the Great Intelligence aka Yog-Sothoth is technically dead, I suspect this isn't the last we've seen of him, being that he was shattered into countless pieces that each worked to try and destroy the Doctor's life. I suspect that one of those copies will still try to find where it's original body was entombed.[/sp] But that's probably a story for another time, and time beyond counting. Also also, we didn't learn the Doctor's name; not like we needed to know it anyway though. Still the theory of his name being the key to a lock held true, even if it wasn't used to [sp]allow the Great Intelligence to return to it's original body[/sp] as I'd theorized.
Clara got reborn as a Time Lady at one point. Neat. Or at the very least a Gallifreyan.
They had a point, to make the Doctor go to Trenzalore, and they did it.
snip, dumb theory
"On the fields of Trenzalore, at the fall of the eleventh, when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a Question will be asked, a question that must never, ever be answered."
Oh that sly, sly Moffat. [sp]"when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer" - River was the one who opened the tomb, and she is not a living creature.[/sp]
Is there a original video of when the doctor stole the TARDIS?
Is there a original video of when the doctor stole the TARDIS?
I believe that bit was entirely reshot. Except the closeups of Hartnell, which were archive footage.
Is there a original video of when the doctor stole the TARDIS?
No, it's totally original apart from archive clips of Hartnell being cleverly spliced in.
No, it's totally original apart from archive clips of Hartnell being cleverly spliced in.
It was very well done, to say the least.
Just saw this episode, and holy shit it was amazing, so glad too, there had been a couple of not so good episodes this season
Soooo Will we ever find out how River knows his name?
This was posted on the last page. Don't want it to get lost. Want to bet the advice was "Don't sleep with the female cast"? Which Tennant was very good at.
Tennant said 89% of doing Doctor Who is good. 100-89 = ... oh Tennant, you clever bastard.
Soooo Will we ever find out how River knows his name?
He whispered it in her ear during their wedding, or so I remember.
He whispered it in her ear during their wedding, or so I remember.
He said "Look into "my" eyes."
So, any theories on how River is mentally linked to Clara? :v:
So, any theories on how River is mentally linked to Clara? :v:
It's explained in the episode. From the trance call.
It's explained in the episode. From the trance call.
I was thinking of how she went all "Spoilerrrsss" on him. I suppose the "spoiler" was "You save her in a few minutes", then?
I was getting worried most of the episode River never said Sweetie, I was glad when she did I think the universe would implode if she didn't. Also every does know Matt is returning for series eight right? He's going to start filming after the film with Gosling. End 2013 early 2014.
The "Stop their hearts" scene was so well scored. Damn. I need this soundtrack. What's quite amusing.. [sp]The Silence wanted The Doctor not to reach Trenzalore so that the tomb could not be opened... but by fashioning River in to what she is, they let it happen. Just like The Alliance in TPO.[/sp]
This is only ever so slightly off topic, but I wish the Master would return in one way or another.
so... I really don't understand [sp] how that was the Doctor's "big" secret, doesn't everyone already know he ended the time war like that? Also, John Hurt, what does this even mean? Other than a recap episode of how it all happened, why does it matter that it showed us John Hurt? Also, what were the exact words of that "Word of God" saying about how a timelord can only regenerate 12 times? Was it the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times, or a timelord in general? If it said the Doctor, that's a clever play on words. So, what do we call the Gallifreyian who ended the time war? John Hurt, 9th Doctor, GWETTW?[/sp] Besides that, AMAZING EPISODE, fucking loved it, wasn't expecting the past regenerations showing up to be that epic, but it was really amazing. Hartnell's part omg Does anyone have the original scene where he goes into the TARDIS in the series, or did they actually just make that?
Androzani name drop!
also did anyone freak the fuck out thinking the Doctor's name was Please
