that's pretty messed up
"scared to death of death? come to earth! ([sp]AND GET YOUR MIND DELETED AND YOUR BODY HARVESTED AND CONVERTED INTO A CYBERMAN[/sp])"
You know, all the cybermen we've seen as far as I know were modeled after humans, or mondasians I guess. I wonder what a cyber-silurian would look like, or a cyber-judoon.

I'd imagine they'd look identical as long as they had a compatible brain. Otherwise they'd probably either get incinerated or modified heavily in order to fit. I mean, cybermen aren't exactly big on the whole difference thing.
Would be cool to see it start with a different species as the template, though. Like, we've had Cybermen originating from Earth as well as Mondas, so it's within the realms of possibility that some other crazy corporation or mad scientist originating on a distant planet could come up with an identical idea, or reverse engineer the technology and have it spiral out of control. And then the Doctor could be like "woah, Cybermen! But from a different planet! Mental!" and then they'd be like "Cybermen? That's a pretty neat name. Let's go with that" and they'd all have a grand ol' time
I only just noticed the 3W logo is a Cyberman eye :v:

oh god what the hell it just ended, that felt like 20 minutes
I was disappointed in the Missy reveal, I knew who it would be by the very beginning of the series.
I wonder if Missy's TARDIS will be a red phone booth.
I wonder if Missy's TARDIS will be a red phone booth.
An emergency fire department phone box. Used by the fire department in the 60's to contain the fire before it could be taken down to the station for processing.
Maybe. If the Mistress escaped the Time Lock she mighta stolen another TARDIS while she was at it.
I thought it was a regeneration of River Song ro be honest
yeah, during the build up I was like "No Moffat, why would you bring Song back please don't tell me this is river song no please" and then I was pleasantly surprised.
So this is kind of cool.

The Cybermen reveal was a recreation of a scene from the 1968 series. It's neat when shows like this acknowledge their past.
EDIT: Hey, this hasn't been posted in the thread, even before the episode aired. I did my homework.
Whenever there's a regeneration, you can guarantee that there will be a video on YouTube that looks EXACTLY like this. Colour cycling and everything.

I thought it was incredible direction throughout the episode except the Cyberman scenes. It looked like blokes dressed up. Some didn't even walk properly. As they walked un-threateningly down a street with no resistance. It was just a bit empty
I really liked the organic matter water thing, made the Cyberman reveal tense as fuck
I'm kinda hoping next week will open with a flashback to what happened to the last Master and how he got involved with Dr Skarosa's 3W. Up until it was revealed the skeleton with Clara was Dr Skarosa I was expecting Skarosa to have been the last Master incarnation (Twitter spoiled the reveal for me).
Now I expext Skarosa is Seb
The Master luring the Universe with the promise of finding Paradise in order to raise an army.... all very Utopia :v:
Sounds like she gets her own *radio trail* [sp]peoples of the Earth, please attend carefully[/sp] moment, next week.

Have to return to the ratings. Look at this jump. I call it The Michelle Gomez Effect.
Live + VOSDAL: 5.266m

...But that's a picture of the Cybus Cybermen. :v:
One touch I really liked in Capaldi's performance was how despite him saying he had no idea who Missy was you could see it in his eyes. The utter fear and defeated helplessness as he stumbled backwards when he realised Missy was a Timelord but needed to confirm "which one". He probably knew the minute he felt her hearts. But couldn't accept it, afterall he just left The Master in 'hell' last they met without batting an eyelid.
The words "oh fuck" are almost printed on his forehead and underlined by his usually furious eyebrows, which are rendered utterly ineffective against his returned adversary. Divine performance.

better.
Be warned, the Death in Heaven screening takes place tomorrow night.

You know who I would have liked to see involved in all this? The Vigil. Those guys could have been creepy as hell.
Just saw the episode. Well, that's definitely one way to answer a very old question.
[sp]I like her character and I don't have a problem with a female Master, I'm a little on the fence about the Master returning so soon. But hey, that all comes down to how it plays out.[/sp]
As for the whole plot, boy this episode was weird. [sp]I'm not sure how to feel about the whole thing being a ridiculously elaborate ruse. I like the presentation though, very surreal atmosphere while I'm of course going 'ok, this is obviously fate, but how' the whole time.[/sp]
I remember seeing The Chuckle Brothers' Doctor What & the Return of the Garlics :v: I have a signed hat and everything.
The red telephone box! Missy confirmed for The Chuckle Sister.

It's been just about five years. In the classic series the character showed up at least once a year, if not several times.
was just thinking, [sp]3w stands for the 3 words: dont cremate me. didn't the doctor cremate the last master after he refused to regenerate?[/sp]

Yeah but he came back. The "Don't Cremate Me" thing is so they can keep using the body as a Cyberman.
Which is where I bring you some 3W Plot holes!
-Why take the clockwork man? He hasn't got a brain or even a skeleton, he can't become a Cyberman. He's a robot already.
-How did they take the girl from the Dalek episode? She's in the far future and not on Earth. So couldn't be a Cyberman. Her body was miniaturized, disintegrated and sent to the Dalek stomach anyway. She shouldn't be in the matrix.
-The one person we've seen Missy take who makes sense is the policeman from The Caretaker. But he was cremated. So he shouldn't have been able to exist in the matrix scene at the end of the episode. Plus he couldn't be a Cyberman... he's ashes.
I watched the last 3 eps this weekend. I just finished Dark Water.
Is it Saturday yet?

I feel that those are just retrofitted links to the promised land story arch so that fact they don't quite make sense is more because they weren't really meant to.
Oh well, if the BBC doesn't allow me to upload it to Youtube then I'll upload it somewhere else and post it here.

If I had to guess it involves something to do with them being killed in relation to the Doctor's adventures.

But if they had their bodies destroyed then it is a plothole because we established a destroyed body can't exist in The Matrix.

Anybody could think this was a Cyberman anniversary. Not only the St Paul's recreation but the obvious Tomb of the Cybermen reference with the shape of the tomb. Also Cybermen logo everywhere, and we know from promo shots that a classic Cyberman head pops up!

*worries Missy isn't The Master*
She also reveals she originally was up for another role but it all fell apart.

I said it at the time, but we didn't see the soldier die. She screamed and was taken by a bright light.
Transmat. Time Scoop. Who knows.
