I hope John Simm returns in some way, he was my favourite Master and couldn't have aced the role any better. We need some kind of flashback or something, like him regenerating into Missy in that raggy apparel he wore in "The End of Time".
There's no flashback. She's [I]after[/I] Simm.
As pointed out before; Simm was the only Master to get a regeneration. The point of The Master regenerating in past stories is you don't know who he is. Before Youtube compilation videos people didn't really care about having to see every regeneration.
I guess there could be a [I]Night of The Master[/I] mini episode but I'm doubtful. Simm is done. Last we saw his Master, the body was on the very edge of death due to a dodgy resurrection. He probably would've regenerated very soon after going through the portal. I like that as a goodbye and ending to Simms Master. I imagine he does too.
I'm sure when Moffat came up with a Master story he asked Simm first. They could've kept the surprise intact by having Seb do all The Missy jobs and revealing Simm as the [I]master[/I]mind at the end. But things haven't worked out that way.

They probably won't since it's unnecessary. We know it happens/happened (like we did with the Doctor taking River to the singing towers) and that it succeeded, so there's no reason to revisit the scene through the 12th's POV.

My idea of a flashback (that's right, fuck you Dan) is so that John Simm / The Master (once escaping the Time War) clutches his heart and laughs triumphantly over the absence of his drumbeat, his laugh turns maniacal as he trembles to his knees with tears of joy pouring down his eyes. The Master digs the terrain and throws pieces of soil into the air, showering down onto him. Now slightly aware of his crucial condition (close to death) he stands back up and swallows, double-checking for the key of Rassilon in his pocket. The audience are shown the key (which he/she used in Dark Water) in his grasp covered in blood. Time vortex starts to emit from the Master's palm and his facial expression becomes more serious and sophisticated, staring at his hands he mumbles "Here we..." ending with a loud "GO!" as he regenerates in the same pose as his last regeneration. The dark alley, where his regeneration is taking place, is swarmed with strong winds and a large amount of debris such as newspaper and leaves. The intensity of the soundtrack becomes stronger as flares and blazes leave his body. Once done with the process, the Master speaks "And do--" only to realize his now feminine vocal tone. Feeling his hair, he notices his change of gender and so he (she) resembles a shocked yet amused expression. Unfortunately, the Master / Mistress becomes aware of her lack of inhumane power she had acquired previously and moans in grief.
