Dude, I've been lurking for years. Seems a bit unfair for you to call me out. I'll respond to the rest of your points in the morning. Gotta get some zzzzzs in. ;)
Watching the reaction of somebody invested in Danny Pink is a whole other experience.
I am now asking you to do is to stop watching a show you seem to dislike so immensely - or at least stop posting about it. You've just made a Facepunch account that currently (as of time of writing) has twelve recorded posts. Eleven out of twelve of those posts are you shitting all over Doctor Who with almost nothing positive. Now I'm not saying you can't have your own opinions but when the only thing you do is bring negativity to the thread, what's the point of you being here? !
Poi, I am really sorry you're having to put up with this shit. I agree with you entirely, I think your posts have been interesting, constructive and valid criticisms of today's episode. I do not confuse criticism with "being negative", nor do I think "being negative" is a valid reason to tell someone to leave a thread or stop watching a show you plainly have interest in. -That- is freaking appalling behaviour defying the point of having a discussion thread, as you pointed out. I've often given up on posting in this thread due to that very reason, I thought that was stupid of me but it seems we quite literally have negative police to stop all the hating on their favourite show :((. Christ. I'm really sorry. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] My own awful negative hating opinion of this episode (that I probably shouldn't voice because we only accept positive comments) is actually born of the fact I've watched dr who since Ecclestone and massivley enjoyed watching the show grow. However I think I've said before that since Matt Smith I've felt the entire show changed in its tone and intended audience, to a more silly, quirky style that just felt.. too far for me. It's possible I just got older, but suffice to say I rarely enjoyed Matt Smith episodes, though I have no particular resentment towards Matt Smith himself. I was really hopeful with Capaldi, and he has proven to be a fantastic actor. I've really delighted to see the little good script he has been given, but sadly let down with the majority of this season in just general plot holes and bad writing. I felt that before this season Clara had zero characterisation, but she was given actual reasons for existence and backstory this season beyond the doctor, and I appreciate that. It was slightly shat upon after Kill the Moon and her going straight back to the TARDIS, I think it's going to be shit on again with a return at Christmas, but I can hope she'll be fully out of the picture soon - she gave a good performance this episode. But overall (tl;dr having my negative opinion and voicing it doesn't mean I don't like/care about Dr Who, or that I should leave. I'm freaking dedicated to this show, and I get to be upset when it is poorly conceived.
It's funny because I was actually one of the people that were most negative about this episode beforehand. Sorry if I've not made it clear enough for you, I thought I was - I'm fine with negativity. Negativity is what makes things become better. What I have a problem is is when the only things you're saying are negative (which is pretty much what poi was doing) and then you're spreading those thoughts over and over again. That just brings the thread down as a whole and ruins it for others. If you're going to be like that, and obviously I can't speak for everyone when I say this so maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd rather you didn't post about it so much. As I said - one negative post is normally enough to get your point across.
I just keep watching the meltdown scene at the end. Reminds me of this The way he shuts the door and calmly walks to the console. Then the explosion of rage which saunters into quiet depression. It's just beautifully touching. I was so excited for him when he opened that TARDIS door. The Master. What a dick.
Completely agree, that scene was one of my favourites from the episode. The fact that he's hurting his one true constant companion shows how hurt he is by it.
Jesus, this isn't EastEnders
Dude who wrote Mummy on the Orient Express and Flatline needs to write more. And by more, I mean preferably everything.
We said this about Moffat, cerca 2005
I'd like to see Moffat and Mathieson form a partnership and run the show together.

Recurring Capaldi adversary. Like Delgado to Pertwee. Kate must return too. She had a great dynamic with The Doctor. I would like a whole episode done in the same vein as a Pertwee episode once The Master is established as a non event character. An attack the base story with The Doctor working with UNIT, driving around. The Master behind some crazy scheme to rule the universe. Maybe get Terrance Dicks to outline the story. I know it's not always best to get caught up the past. But if written correctly it will stand on it's own and only us fans will realise it's a throwback.
I have a feeling Missy will end Capaldi's run as the Doctor.
I have a feeling Missy will end Capaldi's run as the Doctor.
Yeah it would seem The Master is doomed to be an event character (I mean the reaction to last weeks cliffhanger has been huge, the character is a ratings grabber I imagine). And what better event than the end of Capaldi. But I would like it if Missy could appear again between now and 2024 when I will allow Capaldi to leave.
Yeah, Danny wasn't strong as a love interest. Maybe he would have if 90% of his screen time wasn't him angry at the Doctor, or angry with Clara. Maybe if this anger didn't make Clara unbearable for several episodes while she threw a fit at the Doctor for being the Doctor which didn't make any real sense and was just straight up forgotten about. I just, I don't know why he was given so much emphasis. A relationship with Osgood would have made more sense, there was just no on screen chemistry outside of implied fucking and them saying I love you just before [sp]he died the first time.[/sp]
Glad Danny is dead dead now
Yes and until recently he had great ideas, remember he was the one who conceived the new Doctor series and Blink The past two episodes have been very smart as well at least taking out a lot of dumb tropes, being a smart tv series is what made me love the show
True, but his tenure should have ended at the end of S6, in my opinion.
We said this about Moffat, cerca 2005
I was using hyperbole mostly. But he should definitely write more episodes. Dude has a definite knack for it. Hell, Moffat knows this too, letting him write two episodes on his own when barely anyone else gets a single one not cowritten by Moffat. The guy took a ridiculous throwaway line from an earlier episode and made it not just good, but excellent.
Of this series I think only 4-5 were good episodes, and only 2 of those top-tier. IMO the weakest series of the New Who so far. Shame, as Capaldi is amazing.
ok this may be unpopular but i loved it. i'm usually pretty damn critical, and yes i hated kill the moon and fear her and love and monsters so i'm not one of THOSE people. but i really did love it. they could have cut the crap with danny's speech, though, i think it'd have a much larger impact if he just did the thing without a bad speech. the "am i a good man?" theme coming together in the graveyard, with all the flashbacks, was great. really well done. that's what this series was truly about. they killed osgood. those a-holes. cyber-brig? amazing. i had goosebumps. missy dying? i don't even care. it's the master/mistress. anyone who has seen the TV movie can understand that the master doesn't need to make sense. anyone who has seen 2005 who knows that. s/he dies, comes back. it doesn't matter. my only gripe is the danny-related things; i wasn't invested in him. i wasn't invested in the kid. it made complete sense to send him back, though, so i'm not mad about that. i'm not sure what anyone hates about the episode; one unpopular actor (samuel) and love saves everything? when has that ever not been in Who? at least this time it made relatively contextual sense. missy's cybermen were waking up, they were like newborns who were slowly working out what was what. you could see them stumbling around the graveyard doing that. they were probably still just like danny. but danny had recently died, recently remembered being hurt, and his hurt was right there literally in front of him. so he could act on it and voila, the episode. i can't believe they killed off osgood, though. i was hoping she'd be a regular series companion, like Jack. When the Doctor said "All of time and space - add it to your bucket list" I was excited we'd have just a normal companion or regular character for once that had good chemistry with the Doctor. missy's plan was foiled because she doesn't understand the doctor and she never will understand why he acts the way he does. she still thinks she needs to rule the world by force, and this was outlined when the doctor says "all this time you wanted to rule the world - simple!" or something to that effect. so the fact that she gives him an army is just a trait of her character. the doctor is always willing to help her and forgive her, and she thinks this is a way to help him but is wrong. it makes a fair bit of sense. pick it apart out of context and this post and the episode falls apart, but i loved it. i didn't love ALL of it, but i loved it. the end where they both probably realise they're lying to each other but carry on anyway... goosebumps. and the console smashing had me shedding a tear. michelle gomez best master/mistress greatest of all time
i think the doctor and clara knew they were both lying when he said it was a way to hide their face
rip missy November 1st, 2014 - November 8th, 2014. I thought it was a pretty good episode, save for Danny's speech there. Like how Danny sent the kid back, and how the Doctor and Clara lie to each other at the end there. like I really did like it, overall a strong episode imo.
i think she was going to tell the doctor that she was pregnant until she figured out he was lying so she might as well.
do you really think that cybermen possess the tech to just fucking vaporize a time lord like that
Time Lords are almost as vulnerable as Humans. If they get shot in the head, they're dead. They get disintegrated, they're dead. All they really have over Humans is regeneration and 2 hearts. Probably some Virus resistance as well.

yeah there's no way clara isn't pregnant
To anyone kidding themselves, I think it's fairly obvious that she's pregnant. She called The Doctor to lunch for a reason that wasn't "I'm settling down with Danny" (but then didn't tell him anything when they both lied), she had post-it notes to prep herself to tell Danny something that wasn't just "I love you" (but she didn't), and we've seen the future which involves her descendants. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] Freeze isn't it like, four in the morning for you? It's the middle of the day for me, and I'm in bloody Australia.
and hypnosis and psychic control and the ability to sustain large amounts of physical damage before regenerating and the ability to retain astronomical amounts of information and... and...
I'm just going to hand in my card and leave. Point still stands though, I'm pretty sure a Time Lord could be as easily disintegrated as a human.
Freeze isn't it like, four in the morning for you? It's the middle of the day for me, and I'm in bloody Australia.
I've been ill recently so my sleep schedule is messed up. So yes, it is currently 4am and I should probably be asleep. :v:
I've been ill recently so my sleep schedule is messed up. Great episode some flaws such as St. Paul's tardis like features I hope moffats isn't a dick about gallifrey and only mentions it now and again I loved the politics of it in the classic series [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] Also a shame none if the characters we saw snatched by missy were brought back

Maybe if someone made a good Doctor Who strategy game.. :v: I hope we both get better soon too. For now I'm spending all my down time playing Isaac Rebirth (and watching Doctor Who reaction videos, of course). :D
