The problem with having Cardiff substitute for every city in Britain.

I think it was probably deliberate, since it's the place where she first begins to truly trust the new Doctor, and then the place where he finally leaves her. Same angle and everything.

But why would she be in Glasgow?
Time Heist was a really great episode but the ending could've been better. All of the Harold Saxon references throughout season 3 were great, felt like they could've easily added more hints to the finale.
I think it's the most underrated episode this season. One of my favourite things about Doctor Who is cool alien designs and I thought the Teller looked pretty good. That's also why I didn't rank Listen very highly, I appreciate the idea of a the episode and it was well written but I felt a bit ripped off at the end since I would have preferred it if there was actually a monster.

i really loved the caretaker, i know other's might not have as much, but i did. listen was SUCH an instant classic that it gets the top spot. mathieson (flatline, motoe) was an incredible writer and i hope we get him back for s9. not a fan of the premiere or finale. forest and moon were shit.

I thought I remember you quite enjoying Kill The Moon? Even complaining that everybody bashing the episode was causing you to doubt your own enjoyment of it and leading to a thread hiatus (which I agreed with and also failed at)

I did and do quite enjoy Kill the Moon - most of it, anyway. You'll notice my list doesn't have categories :v:
Forest is now the only episode I actively dislike of Series 8 after at least two watches of each (more if you count reaction videos). Even Death in Heaven jumped a few places. I've had a very good series. Probably the only series I could come out with just one through-and-through clunker.

I reject your rating systems and substitute my own

★★
Kill the Moon, Time Heist, Into the Dalek
★
Robot of Sherwood, In The Forest of the Night
I need to go back and finish the first episode. I will admit that I found the first half so horrible I never finished the second half. It took everything I hated from Eleven's run and turned it up to, uh, eleven.
Wow so you haven't even reached the disgusting, offensive second half which children shouldn't be exposed to because the BBC briefly became a gratuitous porn channel....
...according to six people.

That's kind of intentional. The Doctor is still technically 11 in a new body. It's basically 11 in a mad panic. It mellows out by the end. The episode immediately after feels far away from 11's era.
After Deep Breath the 11 vibes go pretty quickly, there's only a couple of episodes which have an 11 vibe (Roots of Sherwood, Time Heist and In the Forest of the Night) but that's for story content not style.
My ratings:
Deep Breath - 8.5
Into the Dalek - 8
Robot of Sherwood - 7
Listen - 9
Time Heist - 8
The Caretaker - 7.5
Kill The Moon - 7
Mummy on the Orient Express - 9
Flatline - 9.5
In the Forest of the Night - 7
Dark Water - 9
Death in Heaven - 7
how would you guys feel if danny was somehow revived in christmas/whenever clara decides to leave to give clara a happy ending?
It would be the least surprising event in the whole of Doctor Who... and make Death in Heaven even weaker.
how would you guys feel if danny was somehow revived in christmas/whenever clara decides to leave to give clara a happy ending?
I would be very disappointed. He had his chance, and he decided to send a kid with absolutely no significance back instead. He can go off and dig all the wells he bloody wants now, I guess, since he obviously doesn't give a damn about Clara.
It would be the least surprising event in the whole of Doctor Who.
But would that necessarily bad?

Serious question, what did you like so much about Missy?
But would that necessarily bad?
Yes. I don't want inconsequential Doctor Who. Death in Heaven was the first Moffat finale which wasn't undone (the debate about Name of The Doctor remains, but for all intents and purposes, his tomb is no longer there) and Danny's death is a crucial point in the character arcs which permeated the series. It was bad enough not being a Danny fan when the episode largely depended on you being so - and in Clara's love for him. Knowing that he'll be back and everything will be fine will just be another Moffaty Woffaty ending.
Would he be revived by the power of love? Probably. Human weaponry is ineffective against Cyber Technology. But those pesky feelings keep getting in the way.

I wonder if he also shot his parents, since apparently he shot up his whole house. Now the kid's an orphan, and Danny Pink's a bigger idiot than he was before.
No, I'm not a fan of P.E, if I'm honest. He's just not a well-written character.
You mean like Death in Heaven?
The events of Death in Heaven were not undone. No timey wimey bs. That was my point. Danny not being saved was probably the most surprising thing I took from it... even if he had the opportunity. It's a shame his consciousness is still somewhere in the netherspace. Easily revived, no doubt.
If The Master hadn't received yet another fake death, I would have been doubly surprised!

No, but you can't argue it wasn't a very Moffat episode with a very Moffat ending.
No, but you can't argue it wasn't a very Moffat episode with a very Moffat ending.
That's because it was written by Moffat - though I thought it bore much more resemblance to an RTD ending (bad guys arrive, defeat the bad guys, part ways, job done) - but irrelevant to Freeze's question.
Danny should stay gone. Not just because he was a bore.
I loved Danny. But he should stay gone. I thought the whole point of building up his relationship with Clara across the series was so when he snuffed it we felt it.
Though I can almost see it now. Clara all depressed because Danny isn't around. Isn't really celebrating Christmas as a result. At the end of the episode she says goodbye to The Doctor to find Santa has left her a Danny under the tree.
[editline]11th November 2014[/editline]
But he's been wrapped up and suffocated. So Clara has to unwrap and dispose of his cold dead body.
