Really glad we finally got this piece, one of my favorites out if TOTD

i was quite gutted when that track didn't end up being the 12th doctors theme, although what they actually made for it instead is still pretty good

It's sortof like the music played at the end of The End of Time (...:v:) when Matt took over, that piece would probably sound great on Peter's showup, while the ToTD piece would go great on TEoT
Well the more you listen to the track that played when Tennant just regenerated, you can kinda hear wee cues from I am the doctor in it a bit. It's a bit faster and kind of a different style but its definitely there.
I desperately want this track to return, it was a part of one of my favourite story arcs and it suited the Doctor and the Master perfectly.

After 20 seconds I am just... immersed.
It did slightly return a few times.
So I think I might've figured out what the meaning for the extension of I.M. Foreman is.
It's supposed to be a modern cover of this.

The main melody of it has appeared almost every time galifrey is mentioned (although as far as I can tell it never appeared in s8 which is a shame).

just naming a few
People should remember that that's why he got the job in the first place - his scripts were the only ones that didn't need editing in the RTD era.
Not the only ones but he was among them. There were a few RTD didn't edit including the writer for 42. Paul Cornell too.

this was a quote I just found: “I write the final draft of almost all scripts – except Steven Moffat’s, Matthew Graham’s, Chris Chibnall’s, and Stephen Greenhorn’s.” from the writers tale, where did he say about paul cornell?
I'd personally love to see the Bad Wolf theme return to the show, really works well in moments when there are potentially catastrophic things happening.

What do you consider as the "Bad Wolf theme"?
it's the galifrey theme, it always returns

GB. But I could be confusing Cornell with Chibnall for some reason.
[editline]21st November 2014[/editline]
This idea of 'bad aliens' is a bit outdated now.
The Master is evil through insanity. The Daleks are evil through hate. The Cybermen are evil through lack of emotions. The Sontarans are evil because they're obsessed with destruction. The rest of the monsters fall very clearly into "evil" camp. Or occasionally "evil until it's revealed they're misunderstood" at the end.
I hope series 9 focus' on tangible races which can actually exist who have personalities and beliefs. A bit less cartoon bad guys who do bad things just because they're alien.
All I want from series 9 is a proper sontaran story. Preferably where strax has to decide where his allegiance lies.
But that's got a very predictable outcome. Strax turning against The Doctor and his friends? Won't happen.
So what you have there is a story where you already know the ending (because The Sontarans aren't exactly going to enter peaceful liaisons with humanity or even convince The Doctor their way of life is a positive force in the universe).
The menu on the Series 8 blu-ray is deliciously weird
Also!
The unnecessary sequel that YouTube didn't want you to see :v: Unfortunately there are some missing audio issues which I'll get around to fixing it at some point.

(had to try though, didn't I...)

Unless there was some other aliens, causing a threat, and the doctor was like "who will fight these threatening aliens?" and the sontarans are all "we'll save you!".

it's the journey - not the outcome - that I want to see
a good - or at least, interesting - sontaran story would be one where the sontarans are fighting a foe that's way worse than them, like, a proper evil, kill-everything-in-the-galaxy, torture-foes-for-information, red-eyed voodoo magic demon-type enemies, and the doctor has to actually side with the sontarans to defeat them, and both the sontarans and the doctor end up saving each other / helping one another to defeat the main villains of the story
problem is, chances are the writer would be forced by either the producers, the bbc or moffat to write an incredibly predictable ending of "with the main enemy defeated, the sontarans turn on the doctor and then he defeats them as well and runs off safe in the knowledge that the next time he sees them, the sontarans will still be villains". fuck
[editline]22nd November 2014[/editline]
also i would totally wanna see a more serious sontaran redesign instead of the potato-wrapped-in-a-blue-balloon design they have going on at the moment

Speaking of aliens, they should never have ditched this Silurian design for Series 5. Alien design is something of an annoyance for me at the moment. Series 8's highlight was The Teller for me (not that difficult in the face of mostly humanoid villains & robots)

That's a Menoptra though.
Anyone else think the track 5- No More should have been added on to Track 4- He was there?

I rewatched Matt Smith's final episode.
Goddamn you, Doctor Who. You are officially the only television program on these days that can bring me to tears.
I haven't cried that hard from a show since the "Death of Mr. Hooper" episode of Sesame Street when I was little. His mid-regeneration speech to the Daleks, followed by 11's farewell to Clara (and the memory of Amy Pond). . .
. . .damn. Right in the fucking feels.
I had a similar moment rewatching The Rings Of Akhaten. The Doctor's speech was sublime. . .but then, when Clara confronts "Grandfather," and offers him the leaf. . .I wept.
Edit: To the fellow that rated "Disagree. . ." Are you disagreeing that I got emotional while watching those episodes? Or are you mad that I didn't put spoiler tags on "Death of Mr. Hooper?"
. . .because Mr. Hooper totally died, bro.
Oh boy - here we go again.

so you know how a few years ago we would always be like "hey, let's write a bunch of episodes set between point x and point y and then post them here for everyone to read" after the series ended and then we would get a few pages into our scripts and abandon them, every time, without fail?
well
what if we wrote a bunch of episodes set between two points in the most recent series and posted them here for everyone to read. for real this time

Just to that to every episode, gain fanbase-wide recognition.
Where did the Doctor go when he ran off in Deep Breath? Saving Gallifrey.
What about when he was supposedly finding Orson Pink in Listen? Saving Gallifrey.
What was he doing after Clara passed out in Mummy on the Orient Express? You guessed it.
What did he do in that 45 minute period in Kill the Moon? Rescuing a certain planet in the constellation of Kasterborous.
Why was he really dancing in Flatline? Just saved Gallifrey.
