It was refreshing to have:
- A 'good' character who disagreed with The Doctor
- A recurring character across a series who doesn't travel in the TARDIS
- A boyfriend who isn't a complete wet fish
- A recurring character killed off
it wasn't that she disagreed with him that annoyed me, its that she just outright acted like a total bitch half the time.
and dont even get me started on danny, jesus, i could fill a well with all the complaints i have about him
you'll need someone to dig that well first

Going through all the Doctor Who Christmas specials I have (Basically The Christmas Invasion to The Next Doctor). Started today with The Christmas Invasion and while not the best episode of Doctor Who ever it is pretty enjoyable, never noticed the Torchwood reference until now.
Capaldi fears "the Bill Hartnell chat" :v:
Apparently the special airs at 6:15pm? That's pretty early.
BBC One Twitter:
The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an arctic base and under attack, can Santa Claus help?
Which is interesting because a month ago somebody on GB posted that exact synopsis but added [sp]it was under attack by Sea Devils[/sp]
[editline]2nd December 2014[/editline]

It was only ever on later because of Strictly. Christmas is a whole different ball game, the kids are home all day, no harm putting it on earlier.

A Christmas tree ornament featuring the Eleventh Doctor.
In the shape of a t-shirt.
What the fuck is this

Obviously they decided to make an ornament based on the 'I slept with Chris Moyles' T-Shirts but when decided not to sell them as merchandise and the novelty wore off they were left with the ornaments which sat in a box under the stairs till today, with no Moyles and budget cuts a plenty they are making do with what they have!
I for one cannot wait for the Great British Bake-Off R.C. Police Car and the Strictly Come Dancing Egg Cups!
This is interesting.

Missed this Derrick Sherwin interview in DWM :v:
I've watched some of the recent ones, and what they're doing now I find pseudo-cerebral, in that you overlap stories. Moffat irritates me. All that happens is you get to a stage where to get out of it, he pulls out some computer graphics.

Well I don't think he's very clever, he gets on my tits frankly, the way he constructs stories. It moves so fast that audiences can't actually follow it. I know would never write for him, because I would write :'So-and-so-and-so-and-so. Pause. A moment to think.' He wouldn't have that. I'm sure he wouldn't.
He does have some great interviews.
So he probably watched Robots of Sherwood, Time Heist, Kill the Moon and In the Forest of the Night then right? Probably Deep Breath too.
Because I can't imagine he'd come back with that having watched Listen, Flatline or Death in Heaven. Or a fair chunk of Series 8.
Even more exciting: He says there'll be even more 2-parters!
I still think a whole series of 2 parters would be great.
How about a thirteen-part story taking up all of series 10 where Capaldi goes back to Gallifrey to try and steal his sixth incarnation's remaining regenerations
I honestly don't think Capldi's doctor is the valeyard

Trial of a Timelord is fuckin quality m8

He probably just reached the totally satisfying arc-concluding Time of The Doctor.

I can't help but question Michelle Gomez's desire for large Christmas trees.
Much like what happened after the Listen teaser dropped.
BBC are dishing out their trailers for individual programs this Christmas - expect we'll have our turn soon.
No matter what happens between now and regenaration, I feel Capaldi's era will at least always look beautiful
The red and orange lights in a cold dark environment. It's very Empire Strikes Back. Which works quite nicely with the show and Peter. I just feel this era is perfect stylistically.
yo heads up
One problem I've had with the past few seasons is how the TARDIS has this weird, unsettling, unhomely feeling to it compared to the first three or four seasons. And weirdly enough I know exacty why it feels this way.
The 180 degree rule is constantly broken in it.
During the time where it had the "coral desktop", the TARDIS set was maybe 1/2 to 3/4s built, so they had a quarter of the set to place the camera and film scenes set in the TARDIS from. This meant we always had a frame of reference; we were always viewing the interior of the TARDIS from a specific perspective, except from the few close-up shots of the console or characters in the TARDIS or whatever.
But since the TARDIS has become a full 360 degree set, it means they can film from any angle, which means that they do film from any angle, which... I don't know, throws me off-balance somehow.
Maybe it's just me, but I would totally prefer it if they'd kept consistent with the 180 degree rule, instead of going overboard with the 360 degrees they have available to them with the full set. Like, I would've been totally okay with them doing the odd scene here and there where they have the whole TARDIS set, like the bike scene in the 50th anniversary episode, but I felt like the TARDIS was a homely, consistent set from the first series, but as soon as they introduced the full TARDIS interior it felt off-kilter for me.
When they spend a few seasons establishing the entrance / exit on the left, before suddenly saying "actually the exit is wherever we feel like placing the exit", it is obviously gonna throw you for a loop. Whether you realise it's happening or not, it's happening.
The TARDIS, since the first series, has always felt like one of the consistent sets in the series. Never mind what time period or planet or city or wherever / whenever the Doctor and his companion(s) find themselves in, the TARDIS console room is there to help the audience feel as if they have a home base there. It's safe. It's homely. But you mess up the 180 degree rule, and have every other scene in the circular TARDIS set shot from a different angle, and it feels totally... "wrong".
I don't know how to specifically explain it, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who feels that way, but I feel pretty strongly about it. Hence the long as heck post.
but hell idk maybe I'm an idiot and deserve to be crucified for my awful opinion
Some longer shots would be nice, with less crazy camera stuff. Just plopping the camera in one spot, and letting the actors act out the whole scene would be an interesting way of doing stuff.
I'm not gonna lie, I want more episodes with weird stuff like the 2D aliens EP.
