Nick Frost is not the real Santa.
But we see the real Santa, in silhouette, talking about what he had to do. Nick Frost turns to him and says 'But not in the name of Santa.'
The silhouette turns around, and we hear: "You are a sad, strange little man."

Now that I can believe.

I'll stop being the Grinch now. At least until the Grinch turns up in a future special.
That's actually Mr. Clever. Pretty much a Cyberman intelligence in the Doctor's brain.
Ah ok, I forgot about that.
Most Who fans are young adults and older adults who used to watch as children and never stopped. Very few are young enough to believe in santa.
My understanding is that the original of santa was a pagan figure who wore green. Christians combined the old winter festival with Christ's birthday, he was actually born at another date, possibly in October.
I would never want to ban you Freeze, but its not a good idea to say "worth it" as that in itself can be a ban reason. Just saying
I'd be fine if it's the actual Santa. It's a family show and by children's perceptions Santa is real and thus for them it's not actually stepping outside the realms of reality.
Also Santa is real in Doctor Who.
This isn't even the first time he's been introduced. It's the first time he's had a plot relevance. But not the first time he's been mentioned or even seen.

But the Doctor mentioned to Rose (in a roundabout way) that he was responsible for her getting a bike for Christmas one year. So the real question is... Is Father Christmas really just a future incarnation of the Doctor? He just spent a few thousand years delivering presents to all the children on Earth throughout time.

as joking. Making a random guess.
Either way Eleven says he's friends with Santa and provides photographic evidence.
I don't have context, but from this year's Simpsons Treehouse of Horror

Your forgetting about Peter Cushing who played Dr. Who in those two movies.

That was the first thing I thought of. And in hindsight that would've made a better punchline.
finally caught up and finished watching series 8
is it just me or was the finale really anti-climactic?
First episode of series nine is titled 'The Magician's Apprentice'.

It started as a criticism of the new costume, then it was referenced in the show, now there's a whole episode about it. Jeez.
Would be a great companion introduction title now :v: Shame it probably won't be.

Top xmas ep of #DoctorWho. St Nicholas Frost the stand-out as your perfect Santa, but some scary stuff too

So impressed to see Peter Capaldi spend so much time with young fans (and much older ones!) after the show. What a complete pro #DoctorWho
If they're concerned about people not understanding the term "sorcerer", I fear that they might rename the first Harry Potter book a third time.
Imagine if there was a Smith episode titled "The Adventure of the Coffee Table". Or maybe "The Secret of the Easter Island"?
Hey, to be fair, there was an episode called 'The Bells of St John', which turned out to be the fucking telephone (although this ended up being important TWO WHOLE SERIES LATER).
I look forward to more people being told to 'shut up' when doing 'a thing' next week :v:
Also Listen is Capaldi's fav episodes of Series 8.

If Clara does leave at Christmas, I kind of hope the new companion will be someone with a background in science, so they're not just all 'ooh aah space' but more like 'I know how several of these processes work'.
Like, it would be cool if they were a student or something
maybe a physics student
in third year
at glasgow
i'm waiting capaldi, come and get me
We know the drill by now – once bitten and twice shy, and all that. Whatever your expectations are for Doctor Who during the rest of the year, at Christmas, you should expect an episode that’s a little flabbier than usual – a little less lean in the telling.
Except, this year, Steven Moffat does something a little different, proving that, no matter what his critics may say, he is, in fact, someone to rely on. From the pre-publicity, you’d assume that this was the most Christmassy Doctor Who special to date, and yet, what’s notable is: if you take a certain Mr S. Claus out of the equation, it’s an episode which could happily play in Who at any other time of the year.
:)
My favourite bit of ITFOTN was the really awkward and long shot on the "missing" girl's face just after she'd come out of a bush. It really was amazing.

It's like hearing the crew compliment their efforts on Love and Monsters.
You know, the classic series BTS features on the DVDs frequently come clean with how they fucked up (like Dragonfire's infamous "cliffhanger" scene). Wonder if it might take a while for them to talk about that with new series episodes.

Well going off this years christmas special, I suppose we can expect the easter bunny to make an appearance?

It takes at least a year for Moffat to admit these things. Except The Beast Below. It took three years.
