Filming for Series 9 has begun!
Get the bucket, it's time to watch out for leaks!

... oh.
Holy heck! Just decided to take a look at the Matt Smith article on uncyclopedia!

nothing out of line there
No nod for Capaldi (or Tennant) at the NTAs - the first time The Doctor hasn't made it -_-
& DW is against Sherlock so Downton will win.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't vote anyway.

There is a Twitter report that Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr, for GoT fans) is filming (along with cinematographer Ali Asad).

I am really so disappointed Capaldi didn't get his deservered recognition.
He knocked it out of the park.
I've seen quite a number of people saying they voted for Jenna - so it's possible that just like when Waterloo Road (now relegated to 10.35pm or something) beat Doctor Who and Sherlock, the vote was split.
Heh, didn't notice that the Dark Water next time trailer music was from The Caretaker
Hey EG, did you gauge RTD's opinion on female Master? :v:
Where did he post it? I wanna read it.
Also 10 years of Doctor Who, 10 years ago Christopher..left..and never returned.
Russell T Davies: thanks but no thanks to Doctor Who tenth anniversary offer
The former showrunner has revealed that he replied with a polite 'thanks but no thanks' when approached by the Corporation. “Someone from the [BBC's] branding team sent me a very lovely email saying do you want to do something", Davies tells RadioTimes.com.
“I don’t know what they imagined: a talk or a convention perhaps. I just said no, to be honest. A programme can’t have its fiftieth and then it’s tenth. I think that’s just confusing. It's marvellous and glorious; let it carry on.”

The lovely Steven [Moffat] invites me every year to come and write one. And I love him and I love them and I love watching it, but here I am, moving on. I love Doctor Who with all my heart but nothing is more important to me than my own stuff.”
from what i've seen on twitter, the adverts for his "own stuff" at the moment literally consists of a triptych of dick jokes
i'm... i'm ok with him not coming back
that's a shame :(
Say what will about Davies, at least he can sustain a storyline.
RTD is my best friend and i support his decision fully
Say what will about Davies, at least he can sustain a storyline.
Personally, regardless of quality or effectiveness, I see that's largely down to how succinctly the storylines were inserted. Each one followed roughly the same format.
"I've heard Bad Wolf before, this series. We'll find out what it is in the finale."
"I've heard of Torchwood during this series. We'll find out what it is in the finale."
"I've heard of Saxon during this series. We'll find out who he is in the finale."
"He will knock four times. We'll see this happen in 10's finale."
...and so on and so forth. Thankfully RTD's era felt much more connected so they all overlapped in a way.
RTD's strength was character over long term story, IMO. Moffat tried to be more ambitious - I can see what potential there truly was in a multi-threaded-multi-series arc - though ultimately failed (still IMO, of course) for numerous reasons. It overran and the finale wasn't half as satisfying as it should have been. That's where series-by-series arcs hold together.
I think Series 8 tried to do both, better. Plenty of running themes and recalling past episodes. Though for me, Danny really let both sides down (I didn't like the character and therefore didn't care about his integral part in the story). I'm just glad I found the Missy reveal so satisfying, even-though it had been predicted. The Nethersphere being part of The Matrix was a nice bonus :v: Dark Water was superb.
I hope Series 9 nails it without so much Doctor/Clara baggage.
Is a mini-sode with Capaldi and Eccleston that much to ask for?
It's pretty weird how they're not doing anything for 10 years of Nu-Who. I know the 50th was only just over a year ago but 10 years of Nu-Who is such a big thing. If it wasn't for Nu-Who Doctor Who would be a fringe mega geek thing.
The DW Tumblr shared an article some guys wrote up talking about how revolutionary Ace was for the archetype for the companions or whatnot. This bit in particular got to me:
Who knows, future show runners may just pick up on Russell T. Davies' idea that had The Sarah Jane Adventures continued, Ace would have made an appearance - and it could yet bear fruit in some form or another. Perhaps, that baseball bat really will live to swing another day.
It would be fantastic if we could get another School Reunion-type episode and revisit old companions, I know fans have been begging for them for various old companions for ages. But how likely is this? Whenever it's brought up, Moffat or whoever talks about "The right story" to bring them back and kinda shy away from the query. Is there really any hope here?
Bring back Ace so we can finally find out if she died during her time with the 7th Doctor or not.
If shes alive then no, if not then yes!...
Or something...

VNA are canon i dont care what anyone says
I don't think a classic-companion resurface would serve any purpose beyond fan service. Sarah-Jane worked as it gave Rose (and by proxy the audience) a glimpse at her potential future. Her 'happy' ending. Jo and Brig in Sarah Jane Adventures was flat out fan service. Brig less so as he played an role across the whole show.
Ian would've worked nicely for the 50th as a nod to the past. But to get him to pop up now would just be for the sake of it and I'd rather not have that kind of writing. Nor would I want to risk retredding old ground.
There is literally no need to bring back Ace beyond fan service. It would be nice to explore things like that in Telltale adventure games that don't exist.
A Telltale adventure game that was overseen by Big Finish featuring 5, 6, 7 and 8 would literally be the best game ever.
Could serve to introduce the younger generations to classic Doctors too. Fucking fund it.

They will probably mark it in a subtle way.
RTD already said he was asked to do a convention/public thing but turned it down. They were probably hoping to screen Rose at BFI with a Chris, RTD and Billie Q&A.
There were heavy rumours that if Jenna stayed around into Series 9 then she would be part of a 10 year reference. Didn't her mother's grave say she died on the day the Rose was set? 5th March 2005. The general rumour is that Jenna was leaving and now is gonna do a bit of Series 9. Wouldn't be surprised if they convinced her to stay so they could still do their planned 5th March story. Maybe it'll feed into Clara's exit. Maybe The Doctor will take her to that date in a Fathers Day esque story. Have 12 and Clara narrowly avoiding 9 and the Autons. Maybe even work in a cameo from a Series 1 alumini.
10 will be referenced. But there's no need to make a big deal of it. Like we're getting a new Ninth Doctor story in a comic!
Chris returning to do something would probably make my entire life worth it
Imagine if in s9 there's an episode with no next time trailer, no promo material, no nothing. We all tune in to watch and it turns out to be a surprise multi-Doctor ep with 9 and 12. Obviously it would have to be shot entirely indoors and they'd have to smuggle Chris in somehow. But it'd be so worth it.
The episode begins:
We see a fruit stand in Central London, we hear the TARDIS materialising, the camera is moving into the food store. And goes in for a close-up on a banana. From behind the camera, we hear the words:
"Fantastic!"
-Cue intro

A five-episode series, with each Doctor having their own episode in 1-4, with the fifth being the one where they all come together and confront the villain.
It would give each Doctor time to develop and show themselves as they are before being thrown with another version of themselves.
But I agree. A Telltale Doctor Who game is something I would die for. Well, not die, but you get my drift.
Fuck it. Make it 13 episodes long and feature all 13 Doctors. Draft in the soundalikes and old companions. Do some multi-doctor shit. Chris doesn't want to do? Then soundalike him up whatever.
Tom Baker back as The Doctor alongside Doc 1, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi.
Honestly after the survey which basically said "would a Telltale Doctor Who game be a good idea?" I'd be surprised if we don't get one or at least one that plays very similar.
Peter's mother has sadly passed away.
The Sun decided to publish pictures from the funeral apparently. Sigh.
:(
I don't mean to be insensitive but.. how will this impact filming? Will it push the release of s9 back?
