Also Clara [sp]opens a door, sees an explosion, and decides to crack a one liner instead of running for her life.
Then seconds later it's gone. Problem over.
I would've liked it if Clara still knew about The Time War at the end, If those guys actually died in The Eye of Harmony (which was very awesome), if The Doctor knew he could trust Clara.[/sp]
Acting was great, Smith really shined when he [sp]locked The TARDIS down.[/sp] Well acting was great apart from the brothers who seemed like they were too lazy to really give a shit. One of them was abysmal, sounded like a 6 year old read out loud. Basically Coleman and Smith were great.
I didn't really like the ending that much. To me, it's essentially the same ending as [sp]The Girl Who Waited - those older versions of the Doctor and Clara are basically as dead as Old Amy was :([/sp]
At least they remember old amy and it had some impact at the time.
Here it was "OH MY GOD CLARA THAT'S YOU... oh well moving on"
[editline]27th April 2013[/editline]
This episode would've been fantastic if:
- The three brothers weren't in it
- The ending wasn't ctrl+z
Seemed pretty quick for an episode that was meant to show off a lot of the TARDIS
[sp]there's that pool that's always referenced -nope now here's a library -lolnope here's the eye of harmony -just kidding here's the engine room[/sp]
The Doctors Wife remains the best TARDIS episode.
also what Dan said about it being resolved with ctrl+z
Friend of mine mentioned the fact that the [sp]scrap guys seemed to remember atleast something, maybe Clara does as well?[/sp]
Nah they just treated him nice for half a second. [sp]He'll continue to live a lie thanks to his greedy brother who he is now forced to live with for the rest of his life. [/sp]
Also it was a stupid twist.
A good twist should make you say "I should have seen that coming" not "I didn't see that coming".
They were just two guys who we didn't care about, found out a major revelation, dead.
Imagine if a better writer had written this episode, oh the possibilities.
I didn't give a FUCK about the scrap guys, [sp]I wanted them to die straight away or to just get lost. They were pointless, I didn't give a fuck about the fact the guy was human, and I didn't give a fuck when they died.[/sp]
I thought the heart was a really cool scene.
I dunno, I'm assuming that little fragments were remembered. Like how Rory was initially erased from time but came back. Also was it me or am I thinking that the crack looked the same, but vertical?
Yeah, I think they might have re-used the crack effect there. I guess a "crack in time" might always look the same though.
when the [sp]magnaclamp control thing[/sp] rolled into the TARDIS at the start of the episode and Clara picked it up, did anyone else think it was a grenade?
They missed a trick towards the end.
"Out of ten, how safe do you feel?"
Clara should've said "eleven." Unless they've already done that and I just forgot.

they did that in the first episode of season 7 speaking of which why am i in this thread i need to finish season 7 so far
Yeah, I think they might have re-used the crack effect there. I guess a "crack in time" might always look the same though.
Remember though that all the cracks were caused by the TARDIS exploding.

do you mean the giant one?
cause at the end, where he goes "HEY ROBOT MAN MAEK ME FOOD" from off-screen in a voice more robot than the robot dude, i was kinda wondering if his character was meant to have, uh, handicaps.
Just finished Series 4, got The Planet of the Dead coming in the mail from Netflix. The OP says there's some S4 Specials, anyone mind telling me what they are? I can't seem to find anything.

[sp]I did call it too; the scrap guys were gonna die in this episode. Also the whole "reset" thing did feel like a bit of a cop-out; that particular trope seems like lazy story-design if you ask me, since it essentially means nothing that happened there actually happened and the adventure was all for nothing, with no consequences for the actions in that timeframe, and essentially no plot development.
Good time travel stories don't need a reset button to resolve the plot;[/sp] they need a good writer to design a better ending.
Still, it was nice to see new parts of the TARDIS like [sp]the library and the swimming pool[/sp]; they should show more parts of the TARDIS more often, like a workbench where the Doctor tinkers with some new gizmos.

Yeah, it felt like Thompson was trying to do a Moffat-esque wibbly wobbly thing [sp]with the reset button being shown in the first few minutes of the episode, only for the Doctor to plant it himself later.[/sp]
But it didn't work, it was cheap and made the whole episode pointless.
Yeah, wasted potential if you ask me; I prefer my time travel stories to have consequences that [sp]don't fizzle out like tears in the rain thanks to a big friendly button.[/sp]
episode was meh
i was really hoping clara was going to read allowed about the time war, i'm interested in finding out what exactly went down.
It was either Undo Button or The Power of Love
Take your pick
EVERYBODY LIVES!!!!
EVERYBODY LIVES!!!!
The Doctor, Series 1.
Then pretty much very Moffat story.
Then most of this series.
The Next Doctor
Planet of the Dead
Waters of Mars
The End of Time Part 1
The End of Time Part 2
Great! I've seen all of those except Planet of the Dead. (I know I said Waters of Mars was in the mail, but I got confused. I meant PoTD) I don't know why PoTD isn't available on Instant, while the others are.
But I'm good to go and continue with Series 5 having not yet seen PoTD, yes?
Really not missing much if you've seen the ones after.
Excellent.
Really not missing much if you've seen the ones after.

1st relax don't take it seriously
2nd relax don't take it seriously
3rd things star to pick up
4th-5th good liners, good conclusion.
I didn't get much on what the eye of harmony was, the transition before becoming a back hole? I always liked the nucleus of the black hole, didn't hear if that was it as well.
Awesome episode. I'm not going to bother reading all of the 'it was meh' comments because that'll just ruin it for me.
I didn't get much on what the eye of harmony was, the transition before becoming a back hole? I always liked the nucleus of the black hole, didn't hear if that was it as well.
My guess is it's nature changed due to the events of Time Crash, in which Doctor Five and Doctor Ten ended up crashing their TARDISes into one-another; at the end of that little short, the Doctor caused a supernova to explode in the heart of the TARDIS to cancel out the black hole that would end up swallowing up both instances of the ship.
Or do we not count Time Crash as canon?
We always count it as canon
Oh ok; I thought because it was Comic Relief it didn't count.
The Doctor and Clara were teetering on the brink of having an actual conversation this week.
