Okay stop this picture is just making me fume with anger. In like less than a second. Stop. As for the news, I'm REALLY excited now. Unlike most people I can't wait to see the departure of Matt. Not because he was bad, in fact I love him as the Doctor, but it's the whole refreshment, you know? The whole bit where we get someone completely new, that strange feeling of "Ooh, who's this guy? What's he gonna be like?".
I'm sad to hear that it can't be Stephen Mangan, he would've been great

+1 for Stephen Mangan, he could have been great.
Only one and possibly-a-bit episodes left of Smith / Coleman. Now I'm sad.
It's so strange to think at first I didn't like Matt at all but slowly grew to love him in the roll thought he pulled of the switch from comic to serious/threatening brilliantly.
man... I loved Matt from the beginning mostly because I had a bad impression of him when I first got into the series (idk how that works, I started watching during Series 6), and idk, I feel like he hasn't finished yet :(
11th, not 12th. The one where Matt Smith got the part - you seem likely to know
Oh no idea. BBC-Cardiff is essentially a leaking ship at the moment. Stuff is always slipping through the cracks. People who were in line for 11 only came AFTER he was cast. Benedict Cumberbatch Ben was a name thrown around and was asked casually but he didn't really want to do it. He has since changed his mind. Matt auditioned for the role of John Watson in Sherlock and producers put him through for The Doctor after deciding he was too odd for Watson. Patterson Joseph Apparently had press photos taken and everything. When David announced he was leaving Paterson was the Ben Daniels of his time. Heavily rumoured to the point people were 100% certain. Here's something that was floating around when Matt was announced and people were shocked (some sources had claimed it was Matt but were largely ignored) He did an interview after Matt started saying he was "really close" to getting the part but something happened at the very last minute. Robert Carlyle Before Petterson Joseph become the "100% likely" it was Robert. I think the general accepted fan theory is he had a choice between Stargate and Doctor Who and focused on Stargate. Robert Tovey and Harry Llyod (from Family of Blood) If RTD had continued these are the two people he thought would be a great Doctor next.
I wonder if Clara will witness the regeneration. That's another thing to look forward to, the companions reactions.
I wonder if Clara will witness the regeneration. That's another thing to look forward to, the companions reactions.
Nah, I hate this shit. I know what the Doctor regenerating is, and I know what it entails. I don't need some companion screaming "ahhh you're not the Doctor! The Doctor was the wacky guy in the fez!" It's why I really dont like the 9/10 regeneration.
I wonder if Clara will witness the regeneration. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
Nah, I hate this shit. I know what the Doctor regenerating is, and I know what it entails. You need an audience surrogate. Plus seeing a companion accept a regeneration eases the transition.
Yeah but Dan, 10/11 didn't have a companion crying over her lost Doctor, and that's why the Eleventh Hour was so great.
Cumberbatch as the Doctor... ehhhh, I just feel that's kinda appeasing to people just to appease, and honestly, I'll associate him as Sherlock no matter what, so it'd be kinda weird. I can't be the only one.
Can't help but feel like it still seems too soon for Matt. Maybe it's because most of his tenure was with one specific pair of companions. Amy & Rory (I mostly consider their tenure as combined even if Rory wasn't all there in Series 5) got 2 & 1/2 sets of episodes, and now we're just getting in with Clara after nearly the whole season was dedicated to her Impossible Girl status. I mean, just the Ponds and Clara. That's harkening back to 6 & 7's companion numbers right there.
Yeah but Dan, 10/11 didn't have a companion crying over her lost Doctor, and that's why the Eleventh Hour was so great.
Uh, when David regenerated, it was pretty great, too? I honestly thought that scene was good simply because Matt looked pretty badass in David's gear.
That could be quite emotional if she sees it and knows straight away what's happening and gets upset by it.
I don't want Jenna to leave.
Cumberbatch as the Doctor... ehhhh, I just feel that's kinda appeasing to people just to appease, and honestly, I'll associate him as Sherlock no matter what, so it'd be kinda weird. I can't be the only one.
He's a skilled enough actor to make it his own unique take but Benedict was in line BEFORE he was cast as Sherlock. He wouldn't look the same either, he'd probably return to his natural hair colour for it too as the shoot is so much longer. If he was cast tomorrow he wouldn't play it anything like Sherlock. But he wouldn't be, he is now 100% associated with Sherlock and it'll stay that way. Actually speaking of natural hair colour: Ben Daniels is a natural ginger. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] I wouldn't want Clara to be upset during a regeneration. I'd want The Doctor to re-assure her that no matter how many times he changes, no matter how many different faces, there is only one Doctor not twelve. I want 11 to regenerate with smiles and hugs. You know when you're saying goodbye and it could be the last time and it hurts so much you smile? Like that. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] Okay. Somebody has just said that as of 20 minutes ago, Ben Daniels is no longer The Doctor. This is probably just somebody showing off. Not sure what to think.
WAIT, I can also say that the announcement also confirms my suspision of parallels that has been going on for this season: -Starting off with 2 old companions, letting them go partway through for new ones. -Doctor gets a new costume and opening titles. -Encounters an unknown being that is infact a version of himself. -Regenerates by the end of the season. I'm not the only one who feels that's familiar, right?
It's why everybody has been tweeting "It's the end but the moment is prepared for"
I dont get this.
Have you watched Logopolis? Unpopular opinion: Don't it's shit.
Have you watched Logopolis?
I am only 13, so no. I haven't even finished the 1st season with the 1st Doctor.
and now we get to feel superior for knowing about matt smith leaving for ages
I am only 13,
Thanks. I now feel way too old to be watching Doctor Who. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
and now we get to feel superior for knowing about matt smith leaving for ages
But it doesn't make me feel better. :(
Thanks. I now feel way too old to be watching Doctor Who.
I feel old myself due to kids watching Doctor Who. Even tho I am young, younger kids are watching Doctor Who.
I feel old myself due to kids watching Doctor Who. Even tho I am young, younger kids are watching Doctor Who.
I was about your age when I started. It was exciting and wonderful. I wish I could watch Doctor Who from that age again. I think a few of us were born in 92/93/94. So I think most of us are the same age and know what I'm talking about.
I was about your age when I started. It was exciting and wonderful. I wish I could watch Doctor Who from that age again.
What is stopping you? Or do you mean as in "I wish I could watch Doctor Who from when I was 13 again"?
