and now we get to feel superior for knowing about matt smith leaving for ages
That's the only problem with reading this thread, when all the big shocking reveals or announcements happen (The Hurt Doctor or Smith leaving), we don't get to be excited with everyone else because we've known for a while already
Hello I am home after a week in Wales Any massive Doctor Who news I missed?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/doctor-who/10093520/Matt-Smith-to-quit-Doctor-Who-after-Christmas-special.html
Reassures Clara. Says something awesome. Grins like a madman. 'Geronimo.' Regenerates.
i just realised that I have been watching Doctor Who for half of my life, starting in 2005 from Rose. Scary.
man I was so late cut me some slack I just woke up :(
"Run you clever girl. Remember me."
i just realised that I have been watching Doctor Who for half of my life, starting in 2005 from Rose. Scary.
Same, I was 6 when I started (2006)
What is stopping you? Or do you mean as in "I wish I could watch Doctor Who from when I was 13 again"?
Yeah second one. 12 and 13. Can't imagine browsing Doctor Who forums when I was 12/13. Everybody in school watched it back then but I was a shy kid so never spoke to anybody about it really apart from some girl I liked. Once I brought a Doctor Who book (The Clockwork Man) I was reading to school for silent reading. When people saw it everybody started asking me about it. "IS THAT A STORY THAT'S GONNA BE ON TV?". I remember a group surrounding me once asking me what I knew about Doctor Who. I explained to them the regeneration limit and about past Doctors. They were fascinated. I knew so much about Doctor Who and for a brief moment I was cool. When Tennant came into it a lot of people instantly grew out of it. Those that didn't never really mentioned it anymore. Most of my school life I exclusively made friends with Doctor Who fans. Actually one of my old best friends from my childhood posts in this thread occasionally. It's weird that these days most of my friends don't and never have watched it. I guess you guys are my Doctor Who friends.
Blimey Xonax, you're certainly a young 'un. Dunno why I'm surprised but I am. Personally I started back around the early 2000s; the first thing Who I remember is a documentary special series of sorts, recorded on VHS. I forget exactly when it was, but it was certainly after the Doctor Who movie since that popped up at the end of the string of documentary specials. But the first full Doctor Who episode I watched was Rose back in 2005, when I was 12 and "homestuck" after I was taken out of secondary school. Even though the past holds some good memories, there's a reason I don't usually look back on my own past (sometimes it's painful).
God, I really want to know who the doctor is goign to be now. Hope its ben daniels [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] or stephen mangan (or michael gambon I mean come on please)
'93 represent
All of my friends have grown out of Doctor Who, I never will though. Massive part of my life. I know more about the history of the Doctor Who universe than I do of the history of the UK, which is pretty scary.
Blimey, you're certainly a young 'un. Dunno why I'm surprised but I am.
Writes far more coherently than I did at 13. I look back at my posts at 17 and feel ashamed. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline]
'93 represent
Aye.
Fun fact: I only got properly into who at the start of S7, because I watched the first 5 episodes, thought "this is bullshit" and started watching all the classic series. Before that I just watched it when it was on and that was that.
Writes far more coherently than I did at 13. I look back at my posts at 17 and feel ashamed.
Like I said, there's usually a reason why I prefer to not look back.

Massive part of my life. I know more about the history of the Doctor Who universe than I do of the history of the UK, which is pretty scary.
Because of Doctor Who I did Drama in Year 9 to Year 13. At the start I was convinced I would one day be in Doctor Who. Then I got an interest in film making. Specifically directing and editing. I was convinced one day I would work on Doctor Who. I had a skill for directing and editing more than I did acting so was convinced it was my future. Started a uni course in media production, part of the course was radio production. I'm now heavily involved in the student radio station (I'm in line for a manager job) and I owe it all to Doctor Who I guess. it sort of guided me on the path I'm on? A bit cheesy but it was a massive part of my life. I guess being in this radio thing, part of me is convinced one day I will interview people from Doctor Who. Which by October may be a thing that I've done but more on that as I learn more and actually have something in writing. How did we start talking about our lives and Doctor Who? I'm so tired, I'm blaming that on being unusually open.
The biggest Doctor Who fan in my family (Besides me, I guess I am the second) is my dad, he has been watching it since it aired in 1963, and he still watches it till this very day.
The biggest who fan in my family is my autistic 43-year-old uncle but we don't really talk about that

She's the only one that does now. One of her brothers died as a teenager. When it came back in 2005 she just switched it on to be reminded of him. She now watches it every time she see it's on because it reminds her of him and how much he loved Doctor Who. He was a severely ill child and would work himself up to the extent he would run out of breath before every episode.
I am sincerely hoping for an aged Doctor next. Someone like William Hartnell. I can't see it happening though, due to all of the "OMG I LOVE MATT SMITH~~" tumblr girls.

Given the good rolls and use of skill you've exhibited, I think you could do it.
Well one of those shortlisted actors (if it's to be believed) was older than Hartnell when he took the role.
Imagine if Richard Madden got the role. He's out of a job now with Game of Thrones, and his girlfriend is JLC. Stranger things have happened.

It wasn't so much the reaction when he left but the reaction when Matt Smith was revealed. I think it was the most awfully handled situation ever. We got loads of great shots of Doctors in action and then BAM. A messy, nervous young adult trying to say something interesting when he really had nothing to work with.
Speaking of tumblr
It's from the BBC news story earlier. I made a high pitch noise and pointed at the tele. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] Lizo just tweeted that in the clip Matt and David were walking towards lunch. They had chicken. [editline]2nd June 2013[/editline] According to DWM a video of Matt is coming at some point Sunday.
Wow some of you have been watching doctor who for a long time, I only came into white remakes before then it was always some old cheesy show in my mind.
