I would rather something Gallifrey based. Maybe Timewar. A past Doctor Mcgann/Hurt could feature somewhat but wouldn't be leading cast.
If not the Time War, the lead up. Shady goings on in the high council, Gallifrey in turmoil, the verge of war. A tense drama set in the heart of an ancient civilisation splitting at the seams. An excellent chance to really expand the mythology to the show and add depth to a race previously criticised as being boring. For some reason I think of thematic comparisons to the fall of Rome. Visually I see Gallifrey as great anchient temples and buildings mixed with advanced technology. The Lord-President as a sort of Ceaser type role.

Not sure how you feel about the prose, but according to Frayed, Susan is a name she chose. She chose it on the same day the Doctor chose his.
However this occurs after he steals the Tardis. Which does conflict with with tv canon in a way seeing as Clara called out to the first before he first set out by saying "Doctor" and he responded.

I dunno about it being on the verge of the Time War, but I hear [url=http://www.bigfinish.com/ranges/v/gallifrey]Big Finish's "Gallifrey"[/url] series is pretty good with stories of politics on the planet. Follows Leela and Lord President Romana (don't ask me how she left E-Space, Doctor Who expanded universe lore just decided one day that she did) through various dramatic events going on with the Time Lords.
Supposedly it'll end next October with a final box set season.

If they went more adult, they could make the show even more scary. Unlike it was when Matt Smith was The Doctor.
it was a lot scarier when matt smith was doctor than when david tennant was doctor
thats kinda the thing i noticed about doctor who, it shys away from... "typical" adult situations, like, it's real easy on blood and only hints at sex blatantly occasionally and most other times, subtly.
i just got series 7 part 1 and 2 on amazon instead of waiting a year for netflix so now it's time for a watching marathon so i can catch up with the current latest episodes
currently just finished the cold war episode, it was cool (then again im new to doctor who so everyone probably has a different opinion.)
i really loved the gunslinger episode, even though i usually hate western stuff.

Maybe some Time Lords were born naturally, whilst others were "woven" from the looms? Kinda like how some people are conceived naturally whilst others were created in test tubes and petri dishes through IVF. My guess is the Doctor was a natural-born, if he had a cradle.

Some results:
- Seems David Tennant is the runaway favourite Doctor with every gender, age group, location, and political allegiance
- Tom Baker and Matt Smith clock in at 2nd and 3rd.
- Matt Smith is most popular with younger fans aged 18-24
- 2/3rds of those surveyed are not interested in Doctor Who
- Doctor Who is most popular with Lib Dems, least popular with Ukip
- Steven Moffat isn't the only one who forgot poor Paul McGann
- Majority of those surveyed think The Doctor actor should be British and Male
- An actor over 40 would not be popular with women
- Most people hated Sylvester McCoy. Way more than Colin.
- Chris is the least liked Doctor for the 18-24 bracket
Goes to show the majority is really easy to predict isn't it? Wasn't expecting nearly 70% of people to not be interested though :tinfoil:
It's also worth noting people filling out the survey would've just chose their favourite Doctor. If they had to number their first, second, and third I think the top order would be David, Matt, Tom. A lot of people that watch the show haven't much knowledge of the classic show and Matt would be the natural second choice. Hell what do I know? Maybe Eccleston would've moved up.
