hey doctor let's travel through space and time

It'd be my one 'turn off the show until Moffat leaves' level.
so i just realized i managed to skip that Rings of Akahtan or whatever episode due to the website I used glitching out... I saw the Christmas Special in its place and thought it was RoA and I was just so confused...
JLC is now JC.
She's dropped the Louise.

McGanns screening at the BFI has been pushed back to September (odd).
Meanwhile reports coming in that Mcgann Month at Doctorwho.tv and Facebook page is going to have more support than any other Doctor. As in new material.
It'd be my one 'turn off the show until Moffat leaves' level.
I'd watch it. It'll be the first time the doctor actively works towards regenerating asap. It could be 5 episodes or whatever.
Bringing back an actor (beyond a multi-doctor/flashback) is unfair on every other actor who hasn't been offered the opportunity. Specially when that actor is the last one to appear on TV, utterly unfair on Matt Smith.
I don't think any self-respecting person would want to be in the middle of a David Tennant sandwich.
Except for
y'know
tumblr

I don't understand. Every recent doctor quit while they were still having fun. Who is it unfair to again? Also, i think Matt would manage not to be outdone. Christ he was better than i could've hoped.
I don't understand. Every recent doctor quit while they were still having fun. Who is it unfair to again?
All The Doctors they don't bring back.
Also "Every recent doctor quit while they were still having fun" isn't true at all. Tennant was the only one who was still having fun.
Hartnell = Forced to quit due to illness
Troughton = Quit as was tired of being typecast
Pertwee = Delgado died, Pertwee was deeply upset. Manning and Letts leaving pushed him over the edge.
Baker = Had been threatening to quit for years, had become abusive and violent on set
Davison = Fear of being typecast, shoddy production
Baker = Sacked
McCoy = Basically sacked
McGann = Basically sacked
Eccleston = Never had fun, was bullied
Why not bring back Eccleston who expressed interest in returning recently? Why not Colin Baker who has been hugely popular in the audio books? Why not Tom Baker who had the most viewers in the shows 50 year history? Why not McGann who didn't get a fair crack of the whip? Why not McCoy who is experiencing a slight fame increase due to Hobbit? Why not Davison who is Moffats favourite?
It's unfair on all of them. Tennant wouldn't do it anyway because who knows it would be against the mythos of the show he loves so much.
[editline]24th June 2013[/editline]
Which is why people are so angry only Tennant has been announced to return. It's hugely unfair on the actors and terrible way to reflect the show's history.
Even if the 50th special is ground breaking and breath taking, everybody (even the casual fans) will be left asking "where the hell are the other actors?". Then somewhere in London Steven Moffat will be on stage in a panel forced to answer the quesiton "Why didn't you bring back Tom Baker" to roars of boos as he comes up with a flimsy excuse. I like to imagine all the other actors are on stage at the same time repeating "We wanted to come back" and Eccleston pips up "I was going to but Moffat never gave me a script". It turns into a full on riot.
[editline]24th June 2013[/editline]
[Steven Moffat puts the box containing Sydney Newman's head on the table. Steven is appropriately bare chested after narrowly escaping from the Doctor Who Convention]
Newman: You still have to answer the question
Moffat: What question?
Newman: The question you have been running from all your life. And when you answer, silence will fall.
Doctor Where? Doctor Where?!
[editline]24th June 2013[/editline]
And now for something completly diferent.
The guy who does all the promo posters tweeted he has just received the materials to make the 50th special poster.
Exciting. Can't wait to see it, I love the posters.

Notice Recent. as in after the re-start in 05. And why is it against the Mythos? The mythos is basically bade up of glorified polished awesome-shaped bullshit. I don't see the unfair. But if you're going to argue by usage of unfair, why don't we stop doing anything new, because that's seriously unfair to our ancestors who couldn't do it.
"Typecast" is on their own bill imo. They could just get over themselves.
Bringing back David Tennant isn't doing something new. The show is about change and accepting it.
The Tenth Doctor is dead. He died nearly 4 years ago. David Tennant is older and chunkier. He will not be coming back to the role of The Doctor ever (beyond anniversary things and the like).
I don't think I'd want the older doctors back for the special. Seeing them all grey and wrinkly and fat, trying to reprise a role they were famous for about 30 years ago would just be depressing i think.
Offtopic a little, I grabbed a silly screenshot of Tennant's face and made some OC

the stars were going out in "the name of the doctor"
doo wee doo
Just finished Season 1 of Doctor Who. Christopher is gone and David is here. I dont know why no one liked the 9th Doctor. I liked him a lot, hopefully David is as good as everyone says he is. Happy Rose is still here though.
Everybody loves the 9th doctor, were just angry about Eccleston.

I agree with your point (Colin's on record for saying that's why he doesn't really feel like returning) but would McGann be an exception?
Also, Time Crash went over well in spite of Peter Davidson's age, but would he be considered an exception too? They say he's retained some aspect of youth over the years.

Then Tennant duels the fork-tongued Moff monster, finally tricking him into a black hole and ending his reign of love and friendship over Doctor Who.

McGann and Davison are probably the only two that'd probably work out well from the classic era. It'd be cool to see Peter again, actually.

The way Peter played 5 in Time Crash was vastly different to the 80's. He played it with age, wisdom, and gravitas. Actually far superior to his younger self. It's a shame he was cast then and not now. Age really isn't a problem. It was explained in Time Crash nicely.
McGann is an exception (hint hint)
(not that he needs to be, we don't know how long his Doctor lived before regenerating or how much he aged)

this is why i hate the random 11 aging
because this fucks the natural time lord aging in the arse - why hasn't 11 aged in 300 years?
Yeah, Matt as an actor looks like he has aged a bit but 300 years? Let's be real here
[editline]25th June 2013[/editline]
I just said let's be real while talking about Doctor Who, sorry guys.
He's aged, but is it the equivalent of a Timelord. Who knows.
(That's how Steven Moffat makes jokes guys. Who knows. Get it? Guys?)

Am I correct in saying that Timelords are immortal unless killed before regeneration?

And when they run out of regenerations.
RIP Rassilon
RIP The Master
oh shit wait they all managed to come back in the end.

I suppose it's silly but we don't really know how it works.
1 aged because he had never regenerated I assume.

He has changed a lot, though.
I'd say 300 years time lord wise is reasonable.
Rassillon is like 7000 years old or something.
I remember reading that 8 was going grey towards the end of his "life", but that was in the books and we all know how they like to fuck with the mythos.

Damn, really? All of the doctors (Except Matt and David) weren't having fun? That makes me really sad.

Time lords can age, How else did the 1st become old?

Don't read the rumors surrounding Matt's departure then.
But to make it better, I've heard more of Davidson and Troughton just wanting to go because they felt three or four or so years was enough of the role and they didn't want to spend a whole lot of time as the Doctor. Which is also why Tennant mainly wanted to leave.
I'll admit, I'm not a BTS expert like Dan up there, but it seems like not all endings were on bad terms.
And mind you, BTS stories can conflict. I also heard reports that Hartnell was a bit more upbeat about departure and commended Troughton as a worthy replacement.
