because this fucks the natural time lord aging in the arse - why hasn't 11 aged in 300 years?
You're fine about the fact that The Doctor is a Timelord from Galifrey, with two hearts and the ability to regenerate, who travels in time and space.
But when he doesn't age right, you get mad about it not being realistic. OK then.
Guys, is Paul McGann's Doctor part of Classic Who, Nu-Who, or his own branch altogether?
Mu-Who?

Nobody said realistic, but it doesn't fit the show at all.
Why did 7 suddenly age in the TV movie? Why was 1 a boy but then grow into an old man within the space of roughly 300 years?

Maybe the first 300 years is when timelords go through puberty?

The production values, pace of the plot and so on fit more with nu-who, but it still retained a bit of that classic who campness and cheesy writing.
Don't read the rumors surrounding Matt's departure then.
But to make it better, I've heard more of Davidson and Troughton just wanting to go because they felt three or four or so years was enough of the role and they didn't want to spend a whole lot of time as the Doctor. Which is also why Tennant mainly wanted to leave.
I'll admit, I'm not a BTS expert like Dan up there, but it seems like not all endings were on bad terms.
And mind you, BTS stories can conflict. I also heard reports that Hartnell was a bit more upbeat about departure and commended Troughton as a worthy replacement.
I just assumed Matt was having fun when I posted it, I knew I could of been wrong, but yeah. What are these rumors?
So all the Actors for the Show leave due to not liking it?
So all the Actors for the Show leave due to not liking it?
Some leave because they get tired of how much energy is required for the role, some don't want to get typecast, others find other opportunities such as Hollywood or they decide theatre is a great place to go next. It all depends on the actor.
Or you get axed if you're Colin Baker.
So all the Actors for the Show leave due to not liking it?
Well it's a job like any other. Sooner or later you get tired of your job and want to move on.
How is this news to people?
[editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
Specially acting. You don't want to stay in one role forever as you run out of challenge. Need to keep your career fresh and active before people pigeon hole you into one role and thus limit your amount of work (money).
We will never see David Tennant play a deranged paedophile in an episode of Criminal Minds. He will always play either wacky eccentric types or emotionally vulnerable sorts. No matter which he plays he'll always be the right side morally.

Except that one film in 2005 where he infiltrated a boarding school with the specific goal of capturing a kid and watching another man murder him for gigs and shittles.
Before Doctor Who was irrelevant.
Matt Smith has kept himself pretty open though it's usually slightly unusual type roles.
Like that one where Matt Smith and this girl are in-love and he dies so she gives birth to a clone of him, raises it to the age it was when they were together, and fucks him. Clone incest.
[editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
Eccleston got out quick. I don't think he's played a character who smiles since 2005. I think that was a one off.
There was also that film he did in 2011 where he basically just goes to Germany and fucks men
Before Who he was gangster

Some rumours Julian Bleach has been in meetings for Doctor Who?
No idea if it's Davros or Doctor. I guess Davros?
There has been long standing speculation that the Daleks don't feature heavily in the 50th due to their 50th birthday being closer to Christmas than November.
[editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
Nevermind. The rumour mongers say he has met in connection to The Doctor. Interesting to say the least.
Equally Tom Hiddleston rumours have shot up.
Believe nothing.

He's already been in Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures and played Davros. Surely they must want him to play a villain, not the Doctor?

I'LL BE WELCOMED BACK AS A HERO
These have been the maddest few years of my writing career – so many ridiculous adventures, so many things I thought I’d never do – and I could not have shared them a with a kinder, more considerate, more entirely supportive friend than the man I completely refuse to call Smithers.
We’ve been to so many insane press launches, we’ve looned about New York, we’ve dropped in on a specialist Doctor Who bar to watch the show with some (fairly surprised) fans, travelled the country in a special Doctor Who bus (well he did, I just dropped in occasionally!) and shown the new Director General of the BBC how to fly the TARDIS. And we’ve spent a fair amount of time looking at each other, and wondering how the hell any of this happened, and how we ended up here.
Out there in the future, Matt’s finale is to be written and made and a new Doctor is to be summoned. Soon I’ll be lying on my sofa, in an agony of indecision again. Beyond that, some day I’m sure I’ll work with Matt again, and we’ll laugh about old times. But I don’t want to think about that right now. I want to think about the best of days. About the impossibility of replacing Russell T Davies and David Tennant in the two most brilliant jobs in television and the fact we didn’t entirely screw it up. About all those episodes, all those monsters, and those stories we’re never going to tell you.
I will never forget a moment of it – me and my mate Matt, making Doctor Who.
Steven Moffat, DWM #462
Steven Moffat, DWM #462
As a lot of fans are pointing out all over the place, that's all kinds of off.
There was already speculation that Moffat and Smith being paired together in public was a set up to combat the rumours floating around that they weren't getting on. I mean, since these rumours started, I've never seen Matt and Moffat compliment eachother so randomly? In the run up to an episode airing (such as a Moffat one) Matt would be doing his usual "Oh Steven Moffat is a genius". Steven would have some anecdote about when they last hung out. But in the middle of June. A month after he announces he's leaving, Matt uploads a goodbye/thankyou video with a very specific goodbye/compliment to Steven Moffat? Months before he even films his last scenes Moffat writes that in DWM?
One comment I saw put it best:
The Steven Moffat column in the new DWM has a curious air about it. I dunno. Just a bit melancholic, which I guess is to be expected, but not a trait Moffat often shows. Nostalgic for a period that hasn't quite ended
Also why the hell hasn't he written the fucking Matt finale yet? It's on TV in 5 months. Takes nearly a month to film. Takes a couple more for post production and pre production, you've got all the 50th publicity. The guy is incapable of running on time?

Or one blog post and inside sources have made them paranoid.
BBC wrapped in fresh cover-up to make it looks like showrunner and actor are best mates.
The PR department would have told them to ignore it, the blog that initially started it was confessed bull. Nothing the BBC does now seems right?
So glad to hear they have a new BBC controller. I hope she likes Who

That regenerations box set is getting attacked on the net. "Rip off" is a term I've seen thrown around a fair bit.
That regenerations box set is getting attacked on the net. "Rip off" is a term I've seen thrown around a fair bit.
What does it literally only have the individual episodes that contain the regenerations?
It's got the all regeneraton stories (i.e. all four episodes of Tenth Planet, all ten episodes of War Games, etc.) and a book about each doctor and their regenerations.
I got it for £36 because of the Amazon preorder price guarantee, and imo it's worth it just for the episodes, nevermind the fancy box and such. Buying the individual stories on DVD would set you back around £60 (plus whatever Tenth Planet will cost when that comes out), but you don't get any of the extras that any of these DVDs would have.
I reckon a lot of the box set bashing will come from fans who are upset that Tenth Planet came out as part of this months before a general DVD release. Seriously, Amazon was flooded with negative reviews before it was even released saying things along the lines of "now I'll have to buy this to get Tenth Planet even though I already own all the other episodes argh bbc are just money grabbers rant rant rant"
A prime example:
Let's face facts, this is the most cynical ploy yet to milk loyal fans. Yes, there are some who might buy this as an introduction to Dr Who, but Dan Hall et al know fine well that many of those reading these reviews will be desperate to see the 10th Planet on DVD to the point that many will pay for this whole repackaging of rereleases. The fact that the 10th Planet is being released again later this year as a solo release actually makes it worse and rubs our noses right in it. They know fine well that many of those with a love of Dr Who lap up all releases and news, so will not want to wait until the solo release (which will no doubt contain at least one extra that was missed off the box set release, in order to further drain pockets). If those responsible for sanctioning this rip off think that they can justify it, they are mistaken!
I'm not often disgusted enough to spend time writing such reviews, but this really has disappointed me. No excuse, the loyal fans who have purchased releases during the last decade and who have propped up the range's sales are being exploited.
I refuse to buy this and I hope that many others do likewise in protest.
written on 11th April
It's something that would be good to get for someone who's just getting into the show, and - for people like me - a good introduction to collecting the DVDs.
[editline]dsd[/editline]
Another:
I have never written a review on Amazon before, but have bought every single Doctor Who release from them since they first began selling them. However, this box set has angered me so much, in its callous disregard for the long-term fans and collectors of Doctor Who, that I am compelled to write something in protest. To release The Tenth Planet as part of this box set is fine, but ONLY if it is also released AT THE SAME TIME as a stand-alone DVD release of this story. Sure, the casual viewer will be looked after by purchasing this set, but where's the regard for the die-hard Who collector? Without us, this DVD range would be nowhere near as successful in sales as it is.
The BBC knows perfectly well that any fan willing to purchase The Tenth Planet has almost certainly purchased each and every single DVD of the rest of the stories included as part of this box set, and the only reason they're doing it this way is to please the newbies, and rob the long-term fans of their hard-earned cash. I am extremely upset with the BBC and all associated with this release, for its unashamed statement of "F*** You!" to the very fans who have supported them from the beginning. The Doctor would be disgusted.
In an absolute first for me, I am cancelling my order of this item and suggest that if you too feel like sending a message that this is unacceptable to the money-hungry suits at the BBC, that you join me in avoiding purchasing this set. Let our voice be heard Whovians!!
Written 12 April
I particularly like how people are talking about buying it as if it's some sort of moral obligation
oh and also how he had already preordered it before deciding it was terrible and a money-grabbing scheme, seriously how naive can you be
[editline]fdf[/editline]
What the money & power hungry BBC clowns have done here is ridiculous, the obvious only other reason that this Regeneration set has been created other than for the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who is so some spoilt little brats can have their rich & stupid parents & grandparents buy it for them at an outrageous price because the kids all have no clue about the classics & only think that New Who is better, which it is'nt,I for one really cannot stand Modern Who at all.
Anyway the decision to put The Tenth Planet out as part of this set only has got to be the next bad move along with Terror Of The Zygons being moved from a summer release to a late September release, that's such a stupid idea.
If the BBC & 2 Entertain are going to make classic series fans like myself happy, then they really should put The Tenth Planet out as a seperate release, that's when their marketing skills will start to make sense, but right now I am really annoyed.
I highlighted the bit that nearly made me burst out laughing in the middle of the night.
My word, why are people so bitter about some DVD box set
[editline]ssd[/editline]
Also I was just looking on amazon and the price has gone up to £50 now, they must have nearly sold out of them
What does it literally only have the individual episodes that contain the regenerations?
I kinda figured that would be it. What were people expecting?
Is Torchwood any good? Im in season 2 of Doctor Who at the moment and its mentioned a lot and I know that its a series that aired alongside Doctor Who (I think) Should I watch it as well?
