I left Islam due to its views on homosexuality, but I still feel bad when I see people bashing it.
Thanks for making this thread, OP.
I always knew Muslim people weren't all like this. Also, Pjanoo, is wearing the Hijab and Burqa really necessary for Muslim women? I know they're supposed to dress modestly, but it bothers me a bit.
Different groups follow different rules, varying from very strict, to lenient. The same kind of sexist thing is in the bible as well, doesn't mean people are going to always act the same way.
example:
Ephesians 5:22-2: Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
It's a thing about not showing skin, especially ankles if I remember correctly from my visit to the local Mosque. Don't want a man to see to much skin and be driven to sin by the temptations of lust.

In some cultures the women want to cover up to show their belief. They aren't in all cases being forced to cover themselves, in a lot they are doing it of their own free will.

But Moses was and he led several military campaigns, wiping out entire nations. So did David if I'm not mistaken. It doesn't really matter though; people should take the lessons religions' holy book teach, and not always take them literally like the extremists do.
There is only one god (Allah)
You must submit to god.
Pray 5 times a day.
Must visit Hajj (First Musjid [yes it's musjid, not mosque...] ever built) at least once in lifetime.
Believe in word of God/ His messenger Muhammad.
Donate to charities
Respect all people (no hitting, name calling etc.) especially your spouse.
Thank you secret gamer for pointing out these commandments.
A question to you haters is how can a religion that is evil promote such good behavior?
Also don't let the iranian dumb ass president let you change your view about us, the things he said about gay people are not true and it is true that there are gay people in iran, but he claims there are none.
Muhammad only killed Jews in wars, and only killed when it was a war and its no problem in killing in wars, and mind you this was 1431 years ago. If USA and Russia didn't kill lots of germans the whole world would be nazi occupied now.
When the woman wears the veil, she completly decides this for herself, a man can want his wife to wear a veil but CANNOT force her.
Jews, christians and muslims were living next door and living THE life 679-1950 in Iraq. and Iraq is a muslim country.
Also I'm a haji meaning I went to haj, its expensive as hell from sweden, it costs like 3000 dollars. But it was fun an experience and bonding with my religion further, you know that square black thingy called the Kaabah, that thing is big as hell dudes.
Also there is extremists in everything, muslim extremists just stand out, these are people who missinterpret the qur'an to hope to justify their deeds, this is dumb. There are people who drink a glass of milk a day, but there are also people who drink all the milk in the house on one day, should the milk company judge those 2 individuals the same because of their common love to milk?
(Very stupid explanation it seems, but kudos to the man who understands :P)
Hello I'm a muslim.
It's not your specific religion I don't like, It's all religion which is horrible, no one should associate themselves with such crap. It's what people do in the name of religion which is horrible.
The wars, the violence, the ignorance, it needs to stop.
It's not your specific religion I don't like, It's all religion which is horrible, no one should associate themselves with such crap.
Thats good, but I wish to seek out the people who treat muslims bad because of their religion, or maybe these people have missunderstood the religion itself and the commandments, these are the people I'm trying to reach by this boring thread about islam :P, I feel no need to straighten your facts at all, it was just that thread that triggered me, and when I clicked on it there were many agreers (is that how you bend it?)
Yeah its sad but it is required at certain points for the interest of more people
Also, why are followers of Islam called Muslim and not Islamic?
Also, why are followers of Islam called Muslim and not Islamic?
Islam means loyalty, when you convert you become a muslim which means
"One who gives himself to god from trust and belief"
I fucking hate when people actually get a lot of agrees on FP when they say that Islam is a horrible religion and should be gotten rid of.
But then again FP is full of dumb-shit 12 year olds so I guess there's nothing you can do about it.
Islam is my favorite religion. It teaches respect, kindness and tolerance. A lot of the bs like the extremists and the burqa are just misinterpretations of the Quran IMO.
I'm atheist and live in America, so don't kill me if I get anything wrong. :saddowns:

Yes let us rip people of their beliefs because obviously what you see as right must to apply to every single person in the world. Everyone must think exactly like you and cannot rely on religion as a system of morals and faith.

Nice dude, I wouldn't blame them if they knew this and still criticized islam at least they know, but when unknowing criticize islam they can't be held responsible, with all the brainwashing going around in the world. Facepunch has really showed a different side in this thread, they may like the occasional trolling who doesn't? But when shit gets serious they also get serious! I like the fact that they're supporting and actually listening to what I'm saying. When I made this thread I thought I would get alot of boxes and be criticized.
Kudos, Facepunch.
Also one different thing about me as a muslim, I'm ready if its the wrong religion or if religion is wrong in general, because with these commandments I'm atleast gonna die a happy man, cus what matters in the end is that you live a good life and be good to people, thankfully I can do this while being muslim (because I don't missinterpret the qur'an) so even if my religion is wrong, I have at least been friendly.
Hell why not just get of opinions while you're at it. Obviously you always correct and people can't believe what they want to believe anymore.
I don't hate religious followers at all, just religion itself.
I don't hate religion, I just hate some "religious followers".
Religion in my eyes is a set of codes and morals to help you through your life. If I am going into a war, I would defiantly feel better to know that someone is watching over me, as opposed to the actual cruelty and coldness of it all. While I don't agree with some aspects of some religions, that doesn't mean they should be taken away completely.
Extremists like the WBC are complete shit and should not and do not represent religion in any shape or form.
I would love to believe you, but your statements just aren't backed up by fact.
- Mohammad led conquests himself and killed many people.
- A good 20-50% (based on location) of Muslims in the Middle East sometimes support terrorist attacks/suicide bombings.
- Women are SEVERELY mistreated in many Muslim countries.
No offense to you, but I think your doing more generalizations of your own faith based on your personal preference. When we look at the MAJORITY of Muslims worldwide your position crumbles. How can you proclaim to know about Islam when you don't even follow one of the main pillars?

Muhammad led conquests (crusades) since when was conquering wrong I don't really see any fault with it, atheists believe in natural selection (survival of the fittest) doesn't that rule apply now?
a good 20-50% of muslims support suicide bombings/terrorists attacks?
try 0.1%. Those numbers are so off that it is not possible, I'm iraqi the country widely believed to be full of religious fanatics I have met more muslims and arabs than you have because I've been in saudi arabia and almost all arabic countries, and I have never NEVER, met anybody
that supports terrorist attacks and suicide bombings, by your thesis I should watch out of each other muslim because he may blow me up, I dare saying that your statements are not backed up by valid sources and by valid sources I mean no brainwashers!
My fact, notice I said fact is backed up by wikipedia which is backed up by thousand of islam pages.
No wonder people think so bad about muslims when people spread numbers like that.
Because even though I don't follow one of the pillars that doesn't make me unknowing about Islam, the qur'an is like the pessimist and the optimist test, some say its half full some say its half empty. one of those 2 is the missinterpreters
I suggest one thing, why don't you travel to an arabic islamic country, and if one as much as touches a hair on your head I will grant you anything you want except things that money can't buy
You cannot make this thesis based off nothing, 50% Are you realizing that you're saying 600 million people approve of suicide bombings and terrorists.

20-50% isn't a majority
O: you live in Gothenburgh, they have the best Metal.
20-50% isn't a majority
Prismatex, BRB 2.5 inhabitants in this house are suicide bombers.
Rathat48 are you talking about metal rock or?
Prismatex, BRB 2.5 inhabitants in this house are suicide bombers.
Shit, I should have known!
:derp:
- Mohammad led conquests himself and killed many people.
Meccans seized Muslim properties after their emigration to Medina. That was justified. Also, people don't see Alexander the Great as a horrible person, yet he killed many more people and took over a lot more land. And don't forget about the Quranists.
- A good 20-50% (based on location) of Muslims in the Middle East sometimes support terrorist attacks/suicide bombings.
herp derp misinterpretations
:siren:also this just in 20-50% of terrorist groups (based on location) support terrorism!:siren:
- Women are SEVERELY mistreated in many Muslim countries.
herpity derpity more misinterpretations plus some added brainwashing for good measure

Do your research and try again, kid.

2. A muslim man is required to make his own bread, and his wife's and his childrens, living off welfare is not the ideal way to live for anyone, and you can't generally say that all muslims live off welfare when there are a few doing it, I myself plan to become an engineer when I grow up (See the difference).
Nope, how is different? Many people PLAN on being something but then don't end up that way and become poor and on welfare, that is such a stupid thing to post.

Music.
On topic, the media always misinterprets things or exaggerates stuff. Some muslim kids hang around our group at school and they're the coolest people you could ever meet.

What if I told you that I have a job right now? And what if I told you that this thread is a response to lionhatkids thread, which implied that almost all muslims live off welfare, read that thread first then read this.
