I would say OS X itself is superior, but you end up paying around $500 for it when you buy an Apple computer. But the compatibility you get with Windows is much better, which makes PC's a much better deal.

I agree that the hardware is overpriced, but they do perform well.
I've used both and I like both equally. Pc for casual stuff, mac for professional.
