Wooot, I'd help fund this shit if I could. More intelligent life, the better! And by intelligent life, I mean like Humans.
June 13, 2002 Posted: 6:28 AM EDT That's pretty old :v:
I have a load of stuff to show you. The goblin shark. "Prehistoric Shark" Some weird ass eel thing, I can never find the name of it An incredible octopus http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/03/the-story-of-the-lonely-whale-will-break-your-heart/ A surprisingly sad story about a whale There're probably more but I can't think of any at the moment. I'll leave you with this, it's not deep sea but it's still freaky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySXCdcnKBgg
Some animals can indeed live completely devoid of the sunlight. But without a planet that is fueled by sunlight to an extent? I don't know.
I've read a lot of stuff about ridiculous types of animals living really deep in the ocean. Usually huge mutated-looking things we've never seen before, they apparently never come up simply because they don't have to, and it's uncomfortable or some crap for them to be near the surface.

I was born too late to explore the world. I was born too early to explore the universe. But I'm born at the perfect time to explore the bottom of the ocean :v:
No, I refuse to believe that thing exists, that is one of the most terrifying things I've seen, if i ever saw that when i'm swimming at a beach, the ocean will turn brown
It exists. I used to have the same reaction as you, but look how happy it is! How can you hate something like that? There are a few other pictures of it but I can't find them
What if someone sticks their dick in to that and that thing chomps on your penis?
then that person would've gotten more action then half of Facepunch.
I hate basically everything on this video. Still, amazing.

Lots of the nasty fuckers exist:

Those are its actual eyes. Dunno about the hole.
I always think of the deep sea creatures as rejected animals that weren't good enough to be on the surface.
I always think of the deep sea creatures as rejected animals that weren't good enough to be on the surface.
That can't be right, half of facepunch would be down there too.
I think it was stated somewhere that every time they dive into the deep ocean, they tend to find a new species or something like that.
There are possibly thousands of undiscovered species in deep ocean. Actually, even in places like Madagascar they find about 30 new species every year it seems... I just read about how there are so many fungal species out there that a team of college students for a project, went into their local woods to find maybe 10 new fungal species, one of which was named after sponge bob square pants and was an interesting find. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline]
I hate basically everything on this video. Still, amazing.
My step dad was a marine biologist and would routinely net catch Nautilus like the one at 3:13. He told my once that when they pulled out the deep sea nets they would find all kinds of mutilated deep sea creatures that would also get captured, but could not cope with the pressure change and would bloat and die when being pulled in. Creepy stuff.

the ocean is like space in our own backyard lets explore
the ocean is like space in our own backyard lets explore
You go first
I dont understand why people talk about stuff in space all the time when we dont even know about half the stuff on our own planet
I dont understand why people talk about stuff in space all the time when we dont even know about half the stuff on our own planet
Think about it, one has zero gravity and no air, and the other has bone-crushing pressure at a certain depth and no air. Which one would you start with?
We actually know more about space than we do about our own oceans. [editline]6th July 2011[/editline] Ninja'd
