So apparently the monsters from Pitch Black exist in the deep ocean
Our fears of water and the like are exactly the same. I freak out swimming 20 feet from the shore around Lake Erie, only because I can't see the ground. It's even freakier when you get the glimpse of a bass just floating there staring at you, plotting to rip you to pieces and drag you to the bottom for a feasting.
I saw a huge gar looking at me in Lake Keystone, they are big, and scary.

Isn't that the squid that kills people and krakens?
I was recently reading about the bloop out of boredom, and ran into a few other sounds related to it.

There might be giant thingies like this lamprey in the ocean, which sucks.
Lets talk about how horrible these thingies might be.
Did no one notice it looks like a trolls mouth under it?

They stole my idea!
Who knew the deep sea could get this fucking weird?
I sure as hell did not need to sleep.
Thank go I just woke up. Time to forget everything in this thread before I sleep.

If you are actually concerned about creepy deepsea creatures when you are trying to sleep in a dark room, you got some problems.

On-topic. What I find interesting about deep sea life is that the animals down there are some really hungry motherfuckers.
Let's say some nice fleshy eel of some sort dies. During the next couple of days / weeks / months even, all kind of animals will be all over the body. Some don't even get the chance to take a bite of the body, but still crabs and other scavengers too they will gorge it down to the last nutrient fragment.
It's insane!
I think I'll just listen to these sounds now.
*Is now googling shit about unexplored deep ocean.*
What if someone sticks their dick in to that and that thing chomps on your penis?
"Hey guys, there's tons of crazy species on the bottom of the ocean that we've never seen before!""
First thought of Facepunch:
"What happens if I put my dick in them?"
I'd really like to see Mining companies figure out how to mine metal out from a place thousands of feet underwater. Any mining equipment/human would crumple like a can under the pressure.
Sup.

They're getting ready. In a decade underwater mining will be the new deep sea oil drilling.
Also, I feel late to this party.

That's a Pacu. They live in the Amazon, are a relative of piranha, but only eat fallen nuts hence the teeth. You can actually buy them at petsmart for some horrible reason despite the fact that they can get huge.

Well I assume they'd be like gold fish.
Gold fish can get very big, but only if the space their in allows it.
If you put them in a standard sized tank with like 3 others, they wont get too big.
Isn't that the squid that kills people and krakens?
No, it's a vampire squid. It's really small, so I don't think it kills people or krakens. Also, it lives deep under the sea.
Y'know, if H.P Lovecraft were around today and saw those few deep-sea creatures, he'd be freaked out and yet have a bounty of literary inspiration.
I'm always interested by the animals they find down there, I remember seeing a video where they found a crab that looked very similar to a headcrab.
It's just a yellow moray eel in low light. Lots of the nasty fuckers exist:

Oh my god that looks like a person's face.
That's it, I am going to explore the deep ocean when I grow up. Let's build a Facepunch submarine.
Ocean you so crazy.
It looks like a giant dick that eats you through the urethra
So I am reading through this thread, about to go to sleep, thinking "Oh, these are some cool animals! I wonder what else is underwater?"
Not thinking that there was too much to worry about, I casually scrolled down.
Until I got to this, plastered in screen-filling glory into my psyche

Fuck exploring the oceans, what is down there is not for sane minds to comprehend.
In all seriousness, we need to explore the oceans, there is so much cool shit down there that we have no clue exists.
