Because it is music.
I really like Philip Glass, I cannot find much of his music on youtube, but i can find covers, this is called 'Music in Fifths', it's very repititious, you have been warned
this can't be noise, the noise i've heard is just like, distorted screams and stuff. just shit, tbh.
The Books - Tokyo (it's been my favorite song for some time)
Endure the initial noise assault for a few seconds if you don't like it, it's the rest of the video that's really good

[editline]08:14PM[/editline] Also, Courtship - HEALTH [editline]08:15PM[/editline] <3
Because it is music.
Enlighten me. I'm talking about pure noise here. If I can't detect a noticeable change in anything then to me it's just a sound (regardless of duration) rather than something I'd call music. [editline]09:14PM[/editline] Philip Glass is pretty neat.

But yes, a pure wall of unchanging white noise is not music.
If you're trying to be cool and say Merzbow's just a bunch of noise then you're not listening deep enough. But yes, a pure wall of unchanging white noise is not music.
I didn't mean Murzbow, but I remember hearing some noise "song" that was like a distorted powerdrill combined with a highspeed jackhammer (which was on the verge of becoming white noise,), and was relatively unchanged throughout. I'm not saying all noise music is like that, I'm saying that people go a little too far with their definitions of music.
I really don't understand people's need to define what music is. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not music. The same applies to art. If someone says it's music, it's music. If someone says it's art, it's art. If it weren't for experimentation and people pushing the limits of what art and music is, we wouldn't have a lot of the music or instruments we have today, so go fuck yourself.
I'm not saying it's not music, I'm just saying that I can't figure out what there is to enjoy about it.
A lot of noise and experimental music is harsh or completely incomprehensible. Artists like Merzbow and Masonna are an example of this. But there is experimental music out there that is enjoyable. Aube is a great artist to start out with if you can find his stuff. A lot of it is limited releases.
Yeah, I like some experimental music with noise influences. Does this fit in to the genre?
Anamanaguchi. A band that uses Gameboy/NES noises mixed with guitars, drums, etc. http://www.myspace.com/anamanaguchi I personally recommend Helix Nebula and Dawn Metropolis.
Yeah.

People saying something is music is the same thing as defining what music is. Each person has their own definition of what music is, and the people who create the different types of music (even if someone else wouldn't consider it to be music) have defined what they think music is. So you are wrong. Also, nice flaming there at the end. Very immature man.
Resurrected this from deep within the music section. Turns out it was actually a good discussion :3:
Oh it's this thread, nice to see it again. I rarely listen to any but Black/Noise can be pretty awesome at times. Gnaw Their Tongues Dead Raven Choir
It is one of the most difficult genres to become accustomed to, but I'm starting to appreciate it a hell of a lot more than I thought I could. Although I knew it was possible for me to enjoy it before, I stayed away from it for thinking I may go insane from it. :psyboom:
Justice is experimental. Most music really is experimental. Im not into noise though.
