I'm too lazy to bother citing sources I'll admit it [editline]11th July 2011[/editline] No shit. I'm talking about meat not insects
AKA you don't have proof because you don't have sources.
No shit. I'm talking about meat not insects. Hardly any primates eat meat
a herbivore is a creature which relies entirely on plants for food last time i checked insects aren't plants
I'm too lazy to bother citing sources I'll admit it [editline]11th July 2011[/editline] No shit. I'm talking about meat not insects
wow insects are composed of meat they are living organisms composed of tissue did this simple fact suddenly escape you or what
XxTheAvengerxX you're probably the worst person I've had the unfortunate honour of being on the same side of an argument with
Thanks for the valiant honor you have now bestowed upon me [editline]11th July 2011[/editline]
wow insects are composed of meat they are living organisms composed of tissue did this simple fact suddenly escape you or what
okay but from a nutritional standpoint the tissues in insects and say, cows for example are vastly different. and my argument was on a nutritional basis mostly
Does the possibility exist that we can get on track? The argument from the lady in the OP is that it's OK to tell people they shouldn't eat meat. I speculate that the lady applies the concept of "do whatever you want, so long as it doesn't harm someone else", but considers animals to be "someone else". The only way we can resolve this conflict, is to know whether or not it's OK to kill animals.
Making products from animal processes (bee honey, milk) is A-okay with me, not removing said resource will likely cause problems for the animal involved. Making products from animals is much more difficult to explain. But hey, things die off naturally, we're artificially replicating the circle of life. Due to our lifestyle, we've made way too many animals to consistently feed if we all just stopped slaughtering. As such, we have to keep the killing (or neuter every single form of livestock we have) to keep the poor wittle animals from dying even more horribly than being jammed in a small box for years then sliced up.

That's what many animals do, they kill for food, only thing that isn't fine in the case of killing animals for food. Is how they do it in slaughterhouses with cramped up animals.
a herbivore is a creature which relies entirely on plants for food last time i checked insects aren't plants
Last time I checked, locusts were a type of vegetable. :v:
Thanks for the valiant honor you have now bestowed upon me [editline]11th July 2011[/editline] okay but from a nutritional standpoint the tissues in insects and say, cows for example are vastly different. and my argument was on a nutritional basis mostly
per gram, your average insect has considerably more nutritional value than most any livestock
Is the current debate about anything that really matters? It seems like you're debating about what's meat and what isn't.
okay but from a nutritional standpoint the tissues in insects and say, cows for example are vastly different. and my argument was on a nutritional basis mostly
they're both living animals made up of tissue and thus you are eating meat when you consume them the fact that you are over-trivializing the argument does not fit into my head in any shape or form
The tissues in chickens are very different from cows as well, are you saying chicken isn't a meat?
They are both composed of mainly saturated fats and proteins. The main criteria for "meat" in a nutritional standpoint [editline]11th July 2011[/editline]
Is the current debate about anything that really matters?
not really
per gram, your average insect has considerably more nutritional value than most any livestock
really this is something you should have learned in elementary school and before you go saying "herp derp we should be eating the producers then" no there is no protein in grass
the fact that you are over-trivializing the argument does not fit into my head in any shape or form
open your thick skull a bit more and maybe it'll fit you dimwit [editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
per gram, your average insect has considerably more nutritional value than most any livestock
I agree with this statement. I am arguing against consumption on a large scale of cows and other traditional livestock that are high in saturated fats and low in overall nutrition, not against insects
humans have been eating meat and vegetables of any caliber since we could develop the ability to do so what makes you think we'll stop now
nothing does in fact in no way did I ever imply at any point that they would
